This was our first stay and first time experiencing a Melia hotel. The grounds of the hotel are stunning especially at night and well kept by lots of hotel staff cleaning throughout the day. We stayed in room 220 - I do not recommend staying in this room! The room is beside a staircase which had a lot of foot traffic. Early every morning we would hear people talking and footsteps. We could also hear: - what I think was cleaning trolleys, moving above us along the outside corridor - people talking above us as it came through the bathroom vents (this was quite bad at night time when people returned to their rooms) - the people using the bathroom above us - the entertainment at night time which was held on the 5th floor. We stayed for 10 nights B&B and there were x3 times when our room was not serviced, even though I had placed the service card on the door. I had to phone reception to ask for fresh towels which we waited for approx. 30mins. There is no balcony or terrace with this room, the door opens out onto an area which is used by all so there is no privacy. The pillows in the room were amazing and the bed was a great size and very comfortable. There were loads of options at the breakfast buffet, hot and cold food and pastries however numerous times I had to ask for milk and glasses for juice and the coffee machines broke down a few times. 9.30am seems to be the busiest time for breakfast. Wifi and phone signal is not great in certain areas. The hotel is not a 9min walk from the beach as stated. The hotel is on top of a hill, if you want to spend everyday in the hotel this will not be an issue but if you like to get out and about, there is a 24hr shop at the bottom of the hill and a couple of shops/cafes/restaurants are a further 5-10min walk. The centre is a good 10-15min walk, it is ok walking down into the centre but not walking home! There are major hills coming back from the centre (I heard a traveller call it 'cardiac hill'!), then the hill to the hotel! The main pool was over crowded which made it difficult to get a sunbed and for the amount of sunbeds, there are not enough sun umbrellas (maybe 1 sun umbrella for every 20 sunbeds). The hotel stated they provide towels for the pool area, not once did they have towels when we asked and each time I asked when they will be available I got an answer of 'I don't know' or I got a shoulder shrug. I would highly recommend getting up very very early to get a sunbed. There was a waiter at the pool however we were never approached by this waiter and constantly wondered why - I think you need to 'look the part' and you will be approached. There are circle employees 'hovering' around at reception and the lobby bar and they will hassle you everyday until you agree to signing up for their 45minute talk, we gave in and attended however the talk was 1.5hrs! We didn't sign up for anything but we did get a dinner voucher for our time though. We only dined at the hotel twice and both times were
