Great village pub with lovely accommodation and wide choice of very tasty food. Atmosphere was very friendly and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful location. Quiet but subtly lively. I'd love to come back to rekindle my experience especially in the summer months. Had an amusing conversation with the landlady and one of the pub's regulars about spam! And not the email type.

Fantastic pub with great food and great staff. We were late and called to ask when food stopped, were told we'd definitely get fed. Arrived, checked in and put our bags in the room, then went for food.Scampi and a Burger, both were very tasty and big portions. Noticed a few spider webs in our room but nothing major, we were in the countryside and the windows were open. Next morning we notice a few smaller cleaning issues, ring on bedside table, that just wiped off and a few older cobwebs and dust, but nothing to complain about, linen was clean and beds were comfy. Shower, water pressure was low, but usable, so we mentioned this when we went down for breakfast, which on the first say was cooked to order, great poached eggs and lovely bacon, sausage, tomato, mushroom and beans, all really good quality. Went out for the day, came back late. Second morning, shower was unusable, water pressure was almost non-existent, then we noticed there was no more loo roll, so I went and got some and queried why there wasn't any, if you want your room refreshing you must ask, we didn't know this. Breakfast day2: buffet, same ingredients but no where near as good, dried out fried egg, hard beans, soggy bacon, no glasses. It seemed very chaotic, odd as it was the same staff. Mentioned water pressure, a guy came over had a look, was very apologetic. A lovely place with lots of potential, but needs some proper TLC. I would go back for pub food, but would want a cleaner room and working shower.

The staff in the pub are very friendly and the food is delicious, the portions are very generous. The pub is a member of camera so some nice real ales to choose from. The room was basic but clean and comfy with tea, coffee, bottled water and biscuits. We would definitely stay again

Visited September 24. Have been visiting this lovely pub and Inn for the past 30 years due to my links with the nearby 100th Museum at Thorpe Abbotts . My American friends has supper and it was super , the shrimp cocktail was up there with the best, my vegetarian lasagna was delicious. We stayed 3 nights and the breakfast was also delicious..see photo. The rooms have been upgraded and the owners seem to be passionate about investing in their business and making sure customers are happy .the serving staff are lovely particularly Helen who works so hard and courteously to make sure you have everything you need. Highly recommend this pub for its amenities and a stay in beautiful tranquil Norfolk

A lovely return trip after many years. Food and service were both great. A friendly country pub, just the sort of place you'd hope to find if on holiday! Rooms available too, although for us it was just for their food as an anniversary present to ourselves! Reasonably priced, both for drinks and food.

We booked a very last minute stay over the bank holiday weekend. We were looking for a pub/restaurant with accommodation and came across the Half Moon. Pub/restaurant The weather was lovely so sat outside in their gardens. Staff were cheerful and helpful. We had booked a room for the night and informed that last orders for food was 4.45pm. Although early for us to eat, we had no other choice. We were then disappointed when people were coming in at 5.30/5.45pm and still ordering food. Can only assume these were locals as they were greeted by names. Food was well presented and nice. I had a pork roast dinner, lots of meat & Veg, disappointed with the roast potatoes. Very rubbery and hard. Hubby had fish & chips, again was very nice. We both opted for desserts, and the bottled wine, excellent. Breakfast the following morning was plentiful with plenty to choose from. Room Sold as a courtyard room, which is basically a very basic room in their carpark. The room was clean but dated. Really could do with being refurbished or just being touched up in places. The bathroom had no frosted Glass and also couldn’t leave the window open as it could have been easily accessed from the outside, which meant the whole room was extremely warm as there was no fan to cool down the room. The bathroom, although clean had a large amount of toilet paper pushed into the corner of the ceiling over the shower! Can only assume there’s a hole there and this is being used to fill it in. Quite noisy as the rooms are in the car park and the car park is gravel. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

Basic Not as well finished as a premier inn, more suited to the caravan set than a business stop.
