This was a positive experience. The hotel is undergoing renovation but does seem fully functional. Our room seemed a little quirky in that it was arranged fairly different from most hotel suites. Still it worked very well for us. It was very comfortable. The hotel does not include breakfast but it does have a good restaurant. You can choose between a very good buffet or order off the menu. I was a little hesitant when we first drove up to the hotel. Like many cities, the downtown does feel in decline, but we felt very safe in the hotel and same for our car in the lot. I would stay there again.

Dripping with historic vibes, this gorgeous 110-year-old building houses a modern hotel with all the modern touches. This corner has had a hotel on it for nearly 200 years, and has hosted Abe Lincoln, Mark Twain, and Al Capone! It's location is perfect--views of the Mississippi River from the rooms, and walking distance to everything in the very happening downtown area. The lobby makes a first great impression, making you feel like you've gone back in time. The clerks were kind and funny, and very helpful with suggestions about what to do and where to eat. Our room had a comfortable, single queen bed (although the pillows were a bit small and flat). The bathroom had frosted glass doors and an adequately sized shower. Our only complaint is that the toilet paper fixture came out of the wall, which we reported immediately, but it wasn't fixed during the 4 days we were there. The restaurant on site, Carolines, had really delicious food and attentive servers. It was also very handy having a spa on site (Potosa Spa), and it was amazing. At $179, the room rate wasn't much more than the Holiday Inn down the street, and I'd take this historic beauty any day over a chain hotel! We will stay here again!

My wife and I are over from Scotland visiting our daughter and we all stayed here while visiting Galena. The hotel is in a convenient location for shops and restaurants and for travelling to Galena. It is well maintained and quiet with a nice pool, hot tub and fitness room. Special mention must be made of Tanisha who was always helpful and set up and serviced our King Suite in a very customer focused manner and, importantly, always with a smile on her face. She is definitely an asset to both the hotel and Hilton.

We were able to get the last room available on a holiday weekend. The room was advertised as a suite but consisted of a king bed and queen bed and nothing else that you would not get in an ordinary room. The bathroom was one of the smallest I have ever been in a motel/hotel. There was a very small pool that we did not use. A group of college students in town for a tournament took over the seating area for their meals and were so loud we had trouble hearing the staff. Parking was limited due to a truck with a large trailer that took up numerous spots. Breakfast was very limited. Didn’t expect much and got even less. However dining area was clean. Staff were very pleasant and were very busy but maintained their composure during a customer’s tirade. Not easy to do. Easy access.

I stayed at the Redstone Inn while on a business trip. This hotel transports you back in time in a very cozy atmosphere and I loved it! It's very nicely decorated with pictures and paintings from older times. Yes it would need renovations here and there but this does take any of the charm it provides. Nice breakfast too. A must if you don't want to stay in a standard hotel that looks like any other one!
GGuest UserHorrible! Stay away from this hotel!! Stayed 6/9/2022 through 6/13/2022. GM Kimberly Paxton and Operations Mgr Derek Autobee refused to address noise issues (I got zero response from either of them on the messages and 2 emails I sent during our stay) even though I asked daily to speak to a manager and to be moved. Why would they leave their business cards on the counter if they don’t want to be contacted? Tia at the front desk was not helpful when I asked to be moved to another Holiday Inn Express (she offered to give me the phone number so I could call them myself claiming they are not the same company). Owen repeatedly told us stories and did not follow through on one single thing he promised (new room, points, etc.). On Sunday he was completely confused and kept telling us how tired he was (join the club, we were exhausted!!). There was some kind of kids baseball tournament over the weekend with hundreds of screaming kids at all hours in the hallways. Plus we were situated next to the elevator even though our profile asks to be away from the elevator. One of the vending machines was extremely noisy. Our room key had to be replaced 5 times. The breakfast buffet was ravaged and packed with kids. We saw the kids handling the muffins and danish; touching them and putting them back… ick!! We tried to no avail to find another hotel. Had we been made aware a few months ago that they were hosting an event we would have had plenty of time to find a different hotel but we didn’t know until we walked in and experienced the zoo. The lack of hospitality and courtesy by this staff was a huge disappointment. We traveled a long way for a wedding and our stay was completely ruined. I have recorded some of the noises, any single one of them would be unbearable, imagine the yelling, elevator and vending machine all screaming in symphony…
We received a very warm welcome from the front desk employee who checked us in and was very informative and helpful. The room had a bad smell and there was a bottle cap and some food on the carpet next to one of the beds. Otherwise the room was clean and a very nice size for us (3 adults, 2 kids). The waterpark was a lot of fun, the kids had a blast. A lot of the structures were rusted and old-looking but that didn't take away from the fun we all had. Unfortunately we were not there for the days the Kidz Klub was open, it looked like a lot of fun. The arcade was great, and I wish we would have had time to try the laser tag they have. Breakfast was included in the price which is unusual and really nice!
NNoreen TSome of the negative reviews must be false or talking about a different place. No extreme upticks in cost. Exceptionally clean. Pleasant staff. My room appeared to have pretty much new everything. Pretty comfortable bed. Decent bedding, quiet AC. Much better than some of the much pricier and “luxury” places I have stayed in.
This is a two-story motel with all room entrances to the outdoors. There is no elevator to the second floor. The facility is conveniently located near downtown. There is a bar and grill on-site. An outdoor swimming pool is also on the property. Vending machines with credit card capability were available for soda pop. The staff was friendly. The room with a king-sized bed was very clean. There were several small square pillows on the bed. I used two pillows side by side to prop my head. The mattress was a little harder than I am used to, but I slept well. The bathroom had a strong full-flow shower. The room was equipped with a TV, refrigerator, and microwave, but no clock or radio. The desk has an outlet *****, but there were no outlets near the bed in my king bed room. (The closest outlet was on the bedside wall within reach of a six-foot extension cord.) The interior of the motel looks better than the exterior. Breakfast was included. The morning of my stay, the options were coffee, juice, breakfast cereal, yogurt, boiled eggs, granola bars, instant oatmeal, toast, bagels, and fruit. There was a microwave available. There was no waffle maker and there were no hot entrees. The motel is located near a hospital atop a bluff on US Highway 20 (Dodge Street) which has a fair amount of truck traffic that is climbing or descending the bluff. This part of the highway has limited access like a freeway. The sound did not keep me awake but was noticeable at times. Much of the other lodging in the city is also located on Highway 20 (Dodge Street) further from downtown in areas with traffic lights.

Definitely will return, came for my 55th bday and the hotel was perfect for us. Went to see the field of dreams. The 2 ladies at check-in made us feel very welcome. Not at all like we didn't belong. Housekeeping was also very sweet. The people who work at the hotel are what a really base ny review on. We will return Location was PERFECT Thank you for being exactly what I expected someone living in Iowa would be like
