We travelled from Ireland to stay in your premises for 3 nights. Everything seemed OK on arrival. We went to the room but I had to make a complaint to reception about the shower which was not working correctly ( as stated on your website ensuite rooms are refurbished to luxurious standards), I wouldn't call a shower hose from a mixer tap luxurious. To this I didn't get a satisfactory answer. We left immediately without having  a good inspection of the room as we were pushed for time to meet with friends for dinner. On return that evening as we were about to go to bed we pulled back the bed clothes and saw what looked like body hairs  on dirty sheets. On closer examination we saw a filthy duvet cover, undersheet and a badly stained mattress which was absolutely disgusting. There was also a bad smell from the bathroom among other descrepencies which I won't go into now. We made the decision not to stay so I went to reception to complain and request the return of my payment as the room was not fit for purpose and I feel that it was mis sold to us. I brought your supervisor to the room and  Of course he dismissed my complaint and queried why we left it so late to bring this matter to his attention in a way that was condescending to me even after explaining  the reason. This was extremely inconvenient as we had to find elsewhere to accommodate us at short notice which proved costly, having to book into numerous hotels to cover our trip.

I really wanted to leave a great review for this hotel. We stayed for an ultimate spa break to celebrate my daughter finishing her exams and leaving school. She was really looking forward to it. Our initial impressions were good, the grounds are beautiful and the reception staff were attentive and friendly. When we reached our room we were a bit disappointed as the room wasn’t to the same standard as other McDonald hotels we have stayed in and sadly that became our constant thought throughout the whole stay. The decor is very tired and the whole place could do with an overhaul. Paper peeling from walls, we had tissue paper stuck underneath the handles on the windows to keep them closed. The relaxation room of the spa was horrible as the ceiling looked mouldy and the paper was peeling off the walls. We had dinner the first night. We had looked at the menu online however it was totally different when we went into the restaurant and the choices weren’t great. We ordered cocktails and both agreed they were the worst cocktails we had ever had, they cost £9.95 each and I didn’t drink mjne at all. Breakfast the next morning was shambolic, there was 8 of us in the restaurant and the staff were running around like headless chickens saying they were so busy and tables weren’t cleaned, we waited a ridiculous length of time to order our food and it took forever to come. We had afternoon tea booked as part of the deal, again it wasn’t great. It had obviously been made well in advance of our booking time and the break on the sandwiches were hard and the cakes cheap and uninteresting. We ate out elsewhere our second evening. We both enjoyed our spa treatments which helped rescue the weekend. Breakfast on our final morning was better as it was a buffet style although we had to wait ages to ask staff for plates as there were none available to lift up (apparently the plate warmer was broken so they weren’t leaving plates out). I think that the staff of Crutherland House are doing the best they can however something has gone wrong with the running of this hotel and it needs attention . We wouldn’t recommend it to friends and next time will go somewhere else

Two days at The Open at Royal Troon this week (Jul 24) and searched TA & Google for convenient hotels. Stumbled over The Redhurst - 30 min drive from golf course. So - took a punt. WOW - WHAT A FIND! OUTSTANDING value for money. Very modern and lovely furnished small hotel. Restaurant was excellent. Bar - well designed and great buzz. Bedroom, though not huge, was good enough and really well furnished, equipped and super comfortable bed and delightfully presented. Ver clean, well furnished with great in room nibbles ( be warned!). Ensuite with shower was well designed and furnished. Dinner menu was not large but more than adequate - simple straight forward good nosh. Crispy BBQ chicken strips , as a starter, is a must- delicious . Their steak & ale pie - WINNER! Meat quality was excellent & plentiful. All freshly cooked, hot and very very tasty. BUT.. the absolute star(s) of the show were the staff. Rarely have I met such young, motivated and customer focussed staff. From front desk, through bar to breakfast & dining staff - all were simply outstanding. They could not have done anything to make our stay any more pleasant. OUTSTANDING! I would highly recommend this hotel whether visiting on Scottish golf tour or Glasgow.I will be organising a golfing trip back to the West coast & will definitely be visiting again this lovely hotel. Thank you to the staff, as a solo traveller I was quite nervous but I felt so safe. Check in was smooth and friendly. The hotel is clean, stylish and smart. You need your room key to use the lifts so I felt so safe going to my room. I stayed in a double room and it was so spacious! Everything was tidy and well placed. Even though there was a fun fair on the next street it didn’t really bother me when I shut the window. It was my first time staying in an apart-hotel and I would definitely recommend! I didn’t know that having ice in the freezer and cutlery would make me so happy haha. I could chill my water and have a lovely meal in my room without having to fork out for a more expensive takeaway. I used the Tesco express down the street to get myself fresh food. The bathroom had a lovely heated towel Rail too so I had the warmest, fluffiest towel! Down in the lobby they have a Brita water filter, board games, extra kitchen equipment and food and drink. Will certainly return if I ever visit Glasgow again!

Parklands Hotel & Country Club is a hidden gem. From the moment we stepped into the hotel it was well decorated, given a wedding vibe to us. The wedding area for ceremonies and evening reception gaves you an insight of how the big day would work. It's very well structured and thought out so it flows well and no cross over with guests staying in the hotel. The surrounding area has loads of space for wedding photos/videos such as a close by woods, open grass area and the baloney at the top of the hotel for those stunning photo opportunities. Jennifer (events manager) is an unbelievable coordinator when it comes to weddings. We met up with her 3/4 times throughout the year to makes sure everything was on track and if anything needed done or changed. On the day she made my wife and I feel so relaxed, making sure we just enjoyed the day with friends and family. If there was any issues on the day I wasn't aware due to Jennifer dealing with everything. Staff all day couldn't do enough for us. They looked after all guests and if we needed anything extra they would make sure to get it. We even had a visit from the owner of Parklands which I found it very humbling and appreciated to take time out to see us. The food was delicious, not just on the day but we visited the restaurant a couple of times before the wedding. I'd recommend to go in for dinner to see how good the steak pie is. We visited wedding venues ranging from Greenock to East Kilbride and Parklands came on top. The value for money for a full wedding (90 people for us) is amazing. This is from them organising, planning, the look, great food, professional staff and a stressless experience for my wife and I. I'd recommend to go in for a look and chat, thats all it took for us to know it was the place for us. Thank you Parklands for making our wedding day so unforgettable. Mr & Mrs Grassie

Just to be clear, this isn't a fine star establishment but it does deserve a fine star review for what it provides at the price or charges. City centre location. Lots of shopping and food options around the venue. Staff were very pleasant although more knowledge about bus routes would have been helpful given the number of out of towners that will be staying here. I chose a double room without a window sunder I was literally just sleeping here rather than spending time in the room. It is very clean, nice white bedding. The double bed took up the whole of the Room bar the entrance part but that was absolutely not an issue because I didn't need any more space. There was a toilet and shower wet room, TV, mirror, hanging area (not a full wardrobe but it absolutely sure what I needed). I appreciated the interesting extra touches which had clearly been considered for a compact space such as storage under the bed for luggage, free wi-fi, plug points and light switches by the bed and only having room cleaning and bedding changed on request and for an additional charge, rather than being included in three cost of the Room when it really wasn't necessary or environmentally aware given that I only had a two night stay. I would definitely use this service again. I paid £25 per night through booking.com which for a city centre location is outstanding.
