The Strand Hotel

Needed a room at the last minute and it was the only one available .... looking at the reviews I know why! However we did not experience some of these issues. No homeless around so don’t know if the hotel are still accommodating them anymore. We were upgraded to a sea view twin 227 which was an added bonus. The room was just repainted white so gave a fresh feel but you could see it was a quick refurb job. Furniture very dated and worn. No plug sockets near the mirror to do hair/makeup and you need to take your own hairdryer. I did get one from Reception. The beds were really comfy and although we were on the front with windows open we had a quiet nights sleep. There is free wifi and tea and coffee in room which was helpful. The sink is tiny in the really small toilet so filling the kettle is impossible. No catering facilities as the restaurant is closed but we didn’t need it..... don’t know why ! The lift is not working and this is said to be down to covid but don’t know how true this is tbh ! The place needs updating and would I go back ? Prob not because I couldn’t guarantee I would get a sea view room which I wouldn’t pay £154 for ! Their own website is not a true reflection of the hotel at this time. There is no mention of the restaurant being closed which might be an issue for some.

Our first time at The View Hotel .. and we were not disappointed ! After arriving in the morning, Reception gave us a discounted parking ticket that allowed us to have parking directly outside the Hotel for just £2.00. After having a day out in Eastbourne Town, we returned to find that the sea view room that had been allocated to us ( Room 712 ) had excellent views of the sea and the Pier. We found the whole Hotel to be clean, tidy and modern - and the same applied to our room. We loved the location of the View Hotel, as we were within 10 min walking distance of the town and local bars and restaurants. Breakfast was excellent with a really good variety and we had a lovely view of the sea from our breakfast table. One of the best breakfasts that we have had in a Hotel in a long time. All staff were really helpful and accommodating and that was really appreciated. Full credit to Claire Prysor-Jones and the View Hotel Team for making out stay a really pleasurable experience and we will certainly be returning again and have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel to others.. Rob & Angela - We had fun at Planet Golf (on the Pier) - Glow In The Dark Crazy Golf - We had a nice meal and enjoyed the live music at The Belgian Cafe - Visited the Wish Tower Memorial - Next to the Wish Tower .. Bistro Pierre ( great menu / food at a good price / lovely views)

Excellent location for the beach, various restaurants, shops and the railway station - with the added bonus of having on-site parking. We were welcomed by the lovely Nickole who was full of smiles and very friendly. She explained the breakfast room, showed us the evening facilities (i.e. if you wanted use of a microwave), and where the lounge area was (with drink facilities if required). Our booking was for 2 single rooms and as requested were on the same floor. The rooms, each with their own bathroom, have everything you need and the beds were very comfy. Overall this B&B is nice and clean and in a good location. At the end of my stay I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Steve and through our chat I could see his passion for ensuring his guests would have a great stay (since they took this place on last year), and that he would be a good custodian of this lovely old Victorian building. I look forward to returning in the very near future.

We were checked in for a two night stay and were given 3 rooms in total due to our horrific stay. The first room we were given was absolutely filthy! We requested a new room which we were given and only got worse from there. At 2:30 am we were woken up in discomfort and itchy, only to get up and investigate the bed and find multiple bed bugs across the bed and pillows. It was horrific!!!! The bites I have received were disgusting and what was even more upsetting and disappointment was the reaction of the staff. We were moved to another room at 3am and were told to complain to the day staff in the morning which we did. They only offered us a complimentary breakfast and 10% off our stay which was only £10.30. £10.30 after all we endured during our stay is laughable!!!! If only we could upload videos of the bed bugs we took, the pictures do not do it justice at all. NEVER EVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL. Especially if you value your peace, sanity and skin.

We stayed for 3 nights as a family with children under the age of 6 and had the best time. The hotel service is exceptional, every need was met. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the valet who helped us park the car and take our bags. They reserved our space for us with a board for the whole stay. The children received a kids backpack with hat, yo-yo and colouring in. We went straight down to the health club to the indoor pool. When we came out the reception said our room was now ready and collected the keys for us. Our room was a junior suite, it spotless and sizeable with drinks provided on ice and slippers for everyone. In the evening the children could order complimentary milk and cookies which they loved. The outdoor pool was heated and lovely when the sun was out, this was end of may/June. There also was a waiter serving drinks outside. The breakfast was amazing, great selection and the kids loved have every meal served with a cloche and countdown reveal. The added extras on the service make this a wonderful hotel. The positives far outweigh the negatives, I guess it could do with some new carpets and some new upholstery but the charm of the old building supersedes this and although old it was very clean. The bed mattress was ok, quite soft. The sofa bed wasn’t very comfortable but ok for young children. We will be back again!! Thank you

Arrived here July 26 for one week. Reception staff very efficient and well organized, they had us all off our coach and in our rooms within a matter of minutes. We had upgraded to a sea view and premier room and we were not disappointed, we were pleasantly surprised by the refurbished room, which was large, new bathroom, spotlessly clean. Amazing views. The maid changed towels and sheets on a daily basis. Plenty of storage and roomy. No complaints at all here. The breakfast was help yourself to a wide choice of cereals, fruit, juice and yogurts, there was even porridge. Wide choices of cooked breakfast with eggs anyway you like them cooked, of which we had, delicious poached and scrambled. Staff were excellent with prompt service, friendly and courteous. Would just like to give Daniel a special mention, he was very pleasant young man. Evening meals very good with a wide choice, well prepared and tasty food. Very pleasant bar staff, the bar is located at the front of the hotel, which is a great location. The bar staff could not do enough for you, we ordered champagne for our anniversary, the staff put it on ice and served it to our table after dinner, they also served other wines etc. We ate lunch here, and it was delicious freshly made and reasonably priced. We would like to mention Dace who was very hardworking and attentive to all the guests. All the other bar staff were too. The hotel we thought was very well run and all staff were efficient. On the odd occasion that we requested anything it was dealt with in a very quick and professional manner.
