The hotel seems new and all the rooms were very clean. There was also a nice little kitchen and a spa bath tub, which we did not find the time to use. Special mention to the kind lady at the reception who was very helpful and informative. Thanks! We drove to visit the Fox Glacier Walk and the Lake Matheson Trail, which was about half an hour drive away. There were supermarkets nearby in case one planned to cook or dine in at the restaurants.

Lovely 2 night stay. Had all amenities we needed. From pots and pans to coffee machine in the room. Fresh bottle of milk in the fridge was a plus as well:)

Perfect location for accessing the glaciers and surrounding area. Immaculate lodges with everything that might be needed, I wish we had longer to stay there. Can’t fault a thing!

The room is very spacious, with 2 large beds, and the other room is inside. There is a jacuzzi, a kitchen, and a very soft bed. Most importantly, the owner is kind. Check-in is until 9 pm. There is parking in front of the room. The best thing is that it is near the tourist information center and the helicopter landing point. Excellent!

It can be seen that the hotel is very new and the location is good. After checking in, we went to the glacier hiking trail. Living here is better than the Fox Glacier town. At least there is a supermarket and more shops.

It was a wise decision to choose to stay at Franz Josef. In fact, it is only less than 30 minutes' drive to Forks, but this company hotel completely exceeded my expectations in terms of room size, bathroom size, and cleanliness.

Very good, great experience

The rooms are warm, clean and beautifully decorated. I was impressed by the artwork. Nice to have the coffee maker plus comfortable bed. We had a great welcome. Rooms are a good size for socialising - we had a group of 8. Walking distance to cafes and restaurants and DOC office.

The apartment was spotless and extremely well equipped in a stunning location. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and couldn't do enough to help. Parking was great with a couple of restaurants within 100m. A perfect two days stay.

This is a very comfortable and quiet motel. The back windows of our room looked out onto some lush greenery with tree ferns and other native flora. The room was larger than most motel rooms we'd seen in New Zealand and the bathroom had underfloor heating. The bed was comfortable and huge. Aside from the underfloor heating, easily adjustable central heating was present also. The kitchenette included everything that we needed. The Wi-Fi was a bit up-and-down but other than that, a great place to stay.

Excellent stay for 2 nights, brand new renovation, modern, well done with a big soaking tub/jacuzzi for 2-3 people. The place was quiet and spotless. The weather was unfortunately not great, 2 days of rain and cold so I particularly appreciated the heated bathroom/kitchen floors. The staff was courteous, pleasant and very helpful. It is located at the end of the village but only a 5 min walk away from restaurants and shops. Deserves to be #1 on TripAdvisor, excellent value for the money. For the food I went to Blue Ice, snake bite and Alice May. The first 2 were excellent with a Asian twist and the 3rd was good too but overrated in my opinion.
