Best Gaints Castle Game Reserve Spa Hotels

We loved our six-night stay at the Cathedral Peak Hotel this September. At least 12 hikes leave from the premises — we recommend taking the guided hike to One Tree Hill (or do it yourself on a nice day, but be prepared to pick your way across the river), the views are absolutely stunning! The hotel itself is a bit of a “blast from the past”in terms of style, but still very comfortable, with such friendly staff and a wide ranging buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our superior room was lovely with a comfy bed, and big shower with hot water. A big highlight for us was the gift shop. Jenny and Michelle were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the area and hikes, and the shop carried detailed hiking maps for the entire Drakensberg (not easy to find), as well as a good selection of local goodies. Finally, you can’t beat the views from the terrace, so if you aren’t up for hiking, you’ll still feel right in the middle of the mountains. 10/10, we hope to come back!
