I'm struggle to put my review in words cause I am amazed by the services offered by the hotel and the staffs. First of all, upon reaching Gero station from Nagoya station using Hida Line, we are thrilled by the surrounding atmosphere and we took our time snapping photos around not knowing that the hotel offers a free shuttle bus for all their customers. The driver waited patiently at the exit gate, holding the hotel sign board waiting for all customers to leave the Gero station. This is a real PLUS in our stays. After we checked in, the staff lead us to our rooms and explained to us on the facilities of the hotel and the staff helped to exchange the size of Yukata after studying our heights. Very observant and thoughtful. There are 3 different hot springs in the hotel and if you have time, you can visit all of them. You can always put on your Yukata and walk inside the hotel region, including the stunning Japanese garden. Just that, most of the services/shops in the hotel are closed on 9pm JST. Remember to plan properly. The room is very spacious with 2 comfortable beds, a small tatami region for you to enjoy your private Japanese tea time. We love the breakfast provided by the hotel as it offered variety of both Japanese and Western breakfast. There is a shuttle bus service (usually once per hour for instance 10am, 11am and 12 noon) to fetch the customers back to Gero station. The staff waved us good bye is another amazing experience provided by Japanese. It is just amazing feeling. Tips: 1. You can purchase the 5Days JR pass and enjoy unlimited ride on some JR trains if you plan to visit Nagoya region and a day trip to Tateyama Alpine Kurobe route. 2. There are not many tourists during our visiting time (24 April 2023) and we love the peaceful feeling of it. Just that, it also comes with not many restaurants are available during the day.

This is a traditional ryokan. The reception was friendly and professional including tea served in your room upon arrival and an orientation as to the various utilities and yukatas. The room was similar to other ryokans we have visited: large with a low table and two chairs in the centre of the room which are replaced by two comfortable futons put into place while we were at dinner. The difference in this ryokan was a small dressing room with a vanity hidden by a natural beam in the corner of the room as well as four upright chairs in front of a long natural beam table in front of the large picture window. I can understand while some reviewers would see the room as being slightly dated with its dark trim but this is offset by bright halls with their floral carpeting and beautiful stained glass windows. As well, the traditional food was superb - artistically prepared and extremely tasty - with multiple dishes served by our gracious hostess. Given the recent investiture of the new Emperor we had a special menu prepared for Year #1 of Reiwa (the name of the Emperor's era). The onsen was equally excellent, with various pools. A great place to start and end the day. All in all an excellent experience.

Typical Japanese style hot spring hotel. The only one-night tatami experience in a Japanese tour with a group of eight and a half people, and the only hotel to book dinner. It is very suitable for the first time to experience Japanese hot spring culture, and the price is good. The hotel is very old and the hot springs are great (slip). Hotel location is good, just a few minutes walk to the main street, you can see many small hot springs and foot baths along the river along the way, geothermal resources are really leveraged. It is recommended to order dinner, the variety includes a variety of typical Japanese food, it is worth a try.

The building is interesting and staircase. Maybe the original site is a slope, so I think it is made like this. Also, it is interesting to make an elevator diagonally up like a cable car. However, there are only 2 units and it is slow, so it doesn't come easily. The stairs are essential for the person who is troubled, but the stairs are also wide 々, so I personally think that I don't think it's surprisingly painful, but I think it's concerned by some people. The building is old, but I think it is maintained clean first. The room is also bad, but the refrigerator is only available in the old paid specification. I want you to do something to the stone. I think dinner depends on the course, but there were variety and variety that can be drunk with HIDA beef, sushi / stab, dessert, and sake. Breakfast is a buffet but normal. The hot spring is wet with alkaline springs. According to your preference, it is a little wet and is kept in. It is located in 2 F and 8 F, and 8 F is new and open air, so it is recommended.

A very homely feel, clean inn. Limited parking lots next to the inn. A bigger car park slightly away from the inn is available. Private onsen can be booked for ¥3,300 a couple, for 45 mins per session A 2-storey inn, no lift. If you have heavy luggage, they will help you carry to your room. Requested for extra pillow and the rattan bedroom was comfy. They have many yukata to choose from, paired with ko-ko shoes & matching rattan bag for your leisurely stroll. From autumn onwards, they have thicker over-coat as well. Staff are from PRC, Malaysia. Speaking Mandarin & English is a breeze.

Use block discount on weekdays. Overnight with a plan with color 々 benefits. The staff will move the car. There is also a guide to the room. The color yukata of the benefits was not damaged and there were some types. The room is large and clean. Supper is satisfactory with room meals. Breakfast is disappointing. The public bath was comfortable without congestion. The staff feels good. Foreign nationals were also full of Japanese. It was a reasonable and satisfying stay. I stayed overnight for the first time with my cousin and wife. The best time to see it was over, but the autumn leaves on the road to the entrance were wonderful. The building retains the remnants of its founding. It was a historic appearance where successive emperors' families stayed. I stayed in a comfortable Japanese-style room with 10 and 5 tatami mats. The large communal bath is an alkaline simple hot spring. In particular, the open-air bath with natural rocks is the best. The skin became smooth and smooth, and it felt very good. It is better to change the men's and women's baths the next morning. Supper is in the room. There are many types of menu in kaiseki cuisine, and we enjoyed the seafood and mountain food luxuriously. Breakfast is a Japanese set menu in the hall. Breakfast with dinner was also satisfactory and very delicious. It was a memory of a pleasant trip.

Wanosato is located next to a picturesque rock strewn river surrounded by old pine trees. The setting is quiet and relaxing with just the sound of flowing water. If you’re planning to explore Takayama you will need transportation for the short drive there. The well established ryokan has several baths available and they are all enjoyable. Our room was spacious and clean with good AC and a small refrigerator. There is a charge for non alcoholic drinks from the refrigerator which is different from other ryokans on our trip. Meals were excellent without fail and the service level is very good. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Shuttle service to and from the train station. Very pleasant stay.

PPENGThe hotel is a pure ryokan. The hotel staff arrived at 7pm. The hotel staff immediately prepared dinner. The service was very good. They also gave us Spring Festival gifts. We took the children and prepared 3 sets of kimonos. They were all very beautiful and took photos. Children also like it very much. The roof of the hotel is an open-air hot spring, and the courtyard is small but exquisite.

CConstanceThis appears to be a family-run business with warm hearted hospitality. The hosts didn’t speak much English but we managed to use a digital translator to communicate. Am grateful the hotel provides free shuttle pick up from Hida Osaka Train station. We had to get our previous hotel to ring Senyukan to inform them about the expected timing of our train arrival. We appreciate the immense patience of the hotel shuttle driver. She put up with 2 changes of timing of our train arrival because of significant delays from the Highway bus from Nagoya to Takayama where we had to connect to Hida Osaka Train station. We had booked to stay 3 nights and loved every moment of the stay. The kaiseki Hida Beef dinner had the perfect balance of sweet/sour/ salty taste. Each dinner also had a cooked fish either grilled, steamed or poached, in addition to sashimi ( raw seafood). The soup was exquisitely flavourful as was the freshly prepared salad and tempura ( deep fried vegetable fritters). All the food items were plated with pleasing artistry. We had booked the hotel for its hotsprings which lived up to their therapeutic reputation. Although the sex-segregated pools were for hotel guests, we found ourselves often the only ones who used them at the time. Highly recommend this hotel for its affordability and wonderful value-added hospitality. The only downside of the hotel is that the wifi signal is not always stable in the guest rooms. But wifi is more accessible from the hotel lobby.

MMarcus88The hotel is not in the Gerv area. It takes about 20 minutes to get over from Gerv. There are not many bus shifts. They usually come by car and have plenty of parking spaces. The room is also the size of a general hot spring hotel, but you must go to the hot spring to take a bath. There are many hot spring pools in Xialv. There are also steamed wooden barrels in the hot jacuzzi. The dinner breakfast is very rich and delicious. The price is very good. It is the 𩠌 dish that cannot be selected for dinner outside the official website.

GGuest UserSince my child was 1 years old, I decided to travel with 3 family members and stayed there. There was also a kids room for children, and the children were very excited. The room was large and I was able to spend it freely. I was just wondering if the air conditioner in the kids room and the electricity were not on. Also, in the women's bath, the temperature of the children's bath was quite lukewarm and cold, and the fence of the crib was low, so it was difficult because I couldn't put the child in. But I also took an open-air bath in the room and it was a very enjoyable trip. Thank you very much.

GGuest UserThe owners and staff were outstanding in providing service and making us feel welcomed. For example, because we had an early train and couldn't eat their breakfast, they made musubis for us to eat on the train. The location is ideal, being right next to the station. The room was typical for a ryokan and very neat and clean. The onsen was very good and accurately depictured in the photos. The water was silky smooth. We would stay there again if we return to Gero Onsen.

GGuest UserIt was a stay using the prefectural people. Because I had declared on the phone in advance, the check-in procedure and the application of the prefectural people were very smooth. The guide in the building was a foreign national staff, and there was a wall of words, but it was easy to understand all the necessary matters. In addition, the information you received at check-in was also described in the information you were able to go to each large bath and were able to use all three large baths without hesitation. I was very worried about which dinner to make, but Ogawaya was the first time to use it, so I made it a standard meeting seat, but it was correct. You can eat at the private room banquet hall, and the amount and taste are satisfactory. The dinner attendant was also a foreign national, but it was very polite and very good as the guide. The breakfast buffet was also used after 7:00, so it was not particularly crowded, and the seat was also very relaxing. It was a type with an open-air bath on the balcony, so the stay in the room is also very relaxing and recommended. It was a stay without any inconvenience at all. I like the accompanying people very much and I would like to visit again when I go to Gero.

Nnyan007When I confirmed the reservation over the phone, Mr. Kisoya said, ”If you let me know your arrival time, they will pick you up,” so I asked around noon. It was early for check-in, but they let me through the room. (If you arrive early, some hotels will only store your luggage, so I was very grateful.) I thought there was a customer, so I agreed. As expected, a group came in the evening, and the men's bath seemed to be quite crowded. In the women's bath, there weren't many empty shelves in the dressing room at night. The rose bath was out of season and there were few flowers, but it had beautiful flowers and a good scent. The tatami mats that touched the soles of my feet when I got out of the bathtub were also comfortable. Most of the staff were friendly. When I mentioned the name of the restaurant I was planning to visit, Mr. Nakai said with a smile, ”It's a popular restaurant.” Before dinner, when I was looking at miso in a small bottle at the shop, a smiling female staff member passed by and said, ”I'll be there for breakfast.” ”There's a fireworks display,” ”If you're going, it's cold, so please dress warmly.” The feeding staff (although he was quite talkative) was kind enough to ask me, ”Is it okay to eat?” Breakfast is pictured. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious.

GGuest UserIt is conveniently located along the river. There is a dedicated parking lot not on the premises but a little further away. If you go up the road between the parking lot and the main building, there is a souvenir street, which is convenient. The facilities themselves are quite old, but everything was well maintained and I was able to use it without any complaints. Mr. Nakai was a young and cute person from Myanmar and I had a good impression. Most of the other staff seemed to be foreigners, but they are not dissatisfied and their language is pretty solid. The relatively steep aluminum stairs in the large public bath are a bit scary, but the view from the open-air bath is nice. There are 6 bathtubs for one person in the open-air bath that is replaced the next day? (I think it was). The only thing I'm worried about is that the amount of each faucet is small and the water pressure is low. You have to press 4 to 5 times to fill the bucket, and the water pressure in the shower was not enough for me, who likes strong water pressure. The food was strangely abundant and did not look luxurious, and the seasoning was good and satisfying. Overall I am satisfied.

GGuest UserI used it to celebrate his birthday. I made a reservation for the anniversary plan on Jalan net. When I make a reservation, I would like to pay for the lodging fee without him knowing it in the desired column for the ryokan. Is it possible? I filled in and made a reservation, but there was no contact from the inn until the day before I stayed. He said that he would make arrangements so that the other person would not know. Also, if you are coming from Nagoya, please change it so that you can have dinner in a private room, and if you come from Nagoya after receiving an explanation of the prefectural discount before hanging up the phone, please use it! I hung up the phone with a very good impression. On the day of my stay, I received a call from the ryokan, and when I called back (different from the time of reservation confirmation), it was about the prefectural discount, but people from outside the prefecture could not take the PCR test for free, from Jalan net. I was told that the prefectural discount would not be applied to the reservation, and I tried to cancel by opening Jalan net during the phone call, but I couldn't. I haven't seen that screen right now...” ”I don't know the price of the PCR test.” I was wondering if you called me without looking into anything, but since I'm going to use it for a celebration, I'm fine with the prefectural discount. and hung up the phone. (I wanted to write a review after staying, but the reservation was canceled without permission) I was sightseeing near the inn to change my mood, and it seems that I received a call from the inn again, and I didn't notice the answering machine. When I asked, he said, ”I have something to say about the prefectural discount, so please call me at 090.” Even though I said no more, I was irritated because they asked me to call a different number. Noticing that I was irritated, he called me instead, and when I asked what kind of contact he was, he said, ”Do you have an inspection certificate because you will be using the prefectural discount?” Just in case, he brought a test certificate, so he was allowed to use the Kenminwari. I listened to the phone while being amazed, but decided to head straight to the inn. I was going to take a bath before dinner, and when I went to the reception to pay for the accommodation, I was told, ”I'm not ready yet.” Did you tell me over the phone? When I told him, he said, ”I haven't been able to enter yet...”. ”I'll call you when I'm ready.” He was in the room after the bath, so he was known after all. It's dinner time and the young proprietress? I don't know who you are, but (because no one at the inn introduced themselves), I had a good time taking pictures. The next morning, the same person prepared breakfast for me, and I felt very comfortable going home with him. When I returned the room key and was about to leave the inn, a petite woman in her 70s turned to him and asked me, ”Are you going to be born soon?” I couldn't say anything because I didn't know what he was talking about. I was walking to the car with him, but I gradually remembered what I had said earlier, and said to him, ”Sorry, I can't forgive the person just now, so I'm going away for a while.” He said, ”It's okay, let's go now,” but I didn't allow it. The young proprietress who prepared dinner and breakfast and the person who made insulting remarks were standing side by side, but he stopped me and I left the car. I am still angry about what happened last Sunday morning. There is a saying that all is well that ends well. I think most people stay here to relax their bodies and minds to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, and other occasions. At the end of the day, when I saw him off, he said something that insulted the human body and laughed. He and I were both very upset and ruined because of him. If you're working with people, why don't you at least say goodbye at the end? I feel sympathy when I think that I have only lived like that. I regret booking this inn. Not worth the rating as others have reviewed. It is really a pity.
