We stayed for two nights in one of the Shepherd's Huts (Goose I think). We normally stay in 5 star hotels but decided to mix things up a bit on a week long road trip around Scotland. We arrived on a beautiful sunny day - just in time to see a lovely sun set over Loch Lomond. The Hut was very small - but we weren't expecting any different. However, I would make any future guests aware of a few things that they might not expect: 1. There isn't a direct view of the Loch 2. There was NO wifi in our hut. My husband had to keep going outside to find a 'spot; where he could download news programmes etc. Quite annoying really as they advertise Premium Broadband - so if you need to keep in touch for work/business purposes, bear this in mind 3. There is no TV - not even a radio (and with no wifi, you can feel a bit cut off) 4. The shower's pretty tight to manoeuvre around in, so if you're ample in size, you might struggle 5. Despite booking in for two nights, we were supplied with 2 (yes 2) tea bags and two sachets of coffee which we thought was pretty mean...oh and there's literally two teaspoons. two forks etc. You get my drift! 6. The village of Balmaha is a 5 - 10 minute walk away where you'll find a small shop, small cafe and a large and excellent restaurant (The Oak Tree Inn. Service is a bit erratic but I had the best food all trip here. Make sure you book online) Having pointed out the downsides, I would add that it was an experience we're glad we had.
