Over the past 20 years, I’ve been coming to Trout House. I don’t come here every year but when we do, it’s always in the fall. Usually October for my birthday. For us, and our dollar, this is the BEST place to stay ok Lake George. Keep in mind, it’s not in Lake George Village so there’s a bit of s drive to get into LGV (about 25 miles). The Pros: all the cabins have a great view of the lake. Over the years I’ve stayed in two different cabins. General Borgeouyne and Ethan Allen Log. Ethan Allen Log (not the Ethan Allen patio) is my favorite, feels like home to me. The staff are all really nice, helpful people. They know what they’re doing around here that’s for sure. They take care of your needs as a guest here, but they also leave you alone and don’t bother you! The views. You’ll never get bored of the amazing views and because the resort property is so large, you’ll get all kinds of amazing views and pictures It’s open year round. I love the off season because it’s not crowded, it’s very quiet and you’ll appreciate the privacy. But if you’re a summer person, there’s lots of activities right on the property that’s fun for families or couples or a bunch of friends getting together. They base prices on seasons which is fair! Why would I pay a higher summer price in the dead of winter? Wood burning fireplaces. Some cabins have gas but I prefer a nice crackling wood burning fireplace. They set it all up for your first night, after that it’s up to the guest to build your fire. Which takes literally two minutes because they provide everything! Wood, kindling, matches, newspaper etc. It’s just simply beautiful The cons: Not too many negative things to say, honestly. I’ve never had any issues with service, price, billing, reservations etc. everything always goes smoothly. The cell service can be spotty. But come here to get away from the cell phones and internet! It’s not too much of an issue. Non connnection only happens sometimes. Tips: I would come ready and packed with groceries and the things from home that keep you comfortable. You cannot just “run to the store” around here. The stores are not close by and can have weird hours in the off season. So make sure you bring the hygiene products you need, food for cooking (if you stay longer than two days, you’ll definitely be doing some of your own cooking) bring all your snacks, bring food that you love but that’s easy to prepare. They have a full stocked kitchen so you don’t need pots pans dish cleaner etc. bring your alcohol with you if you plan to have drinks etc. just do a good supermarket shop before coming so you’re prepared. Again, shopping for that stuff up here is not easy and would definitely be an interruption in your fun. Overall: it’s fun, beautiful and most importantly to me, relaxing. I don’t come here to do much. We hang out, go into town (bolting landing and lake George village) do some souvenir shopping, go out to eat etc. but there’s lots more to do if you’re l
