I didn’t stay here, I ate here. Staying around the corner, poked my head in the door and noticed a decent full bar setup. That in itself is rare in this part of the world. I spoke to the manager about making me a Frozen Mudslide which Thai’s have never heard of unless they met me. She said of course, come back at dinner hour. I’ve found Thai women (she was Burmese) are more open to learn a new drink. Thai men tend to get defensive. I came back at 6:00 pm for the start of dinner and ordered spicy ground chicken, rice and a fried egg on top, The egg was overcooked well done, almost dry, even though I asked for medium. To be fair, there is a strong language barrier almost everywhere you go and I’m always shocked when a young Thai (under 40) starts talking to me in perfect English (extremely rare). So unless you put a lot of effort into your description of a “wet” egg; it probably ain’t gonna happen. The mostly dry fried egg aside the meal was ok. It wasn’t expensive ; I believe a little over $5.00 US. It was a light meal; on the small side, but not an appetizer. Rice cooked well (I would hope so. We’re in Asia.) Ground chicken ok. Spice level high as advertised. Everything said, no complaints; just the egg. Now let’s talk about the real star of this performance; the mudslide. Yes, take a bow; you deserved it. The bartender/manager had a great attitude to agree to learn a new drink and she followed through and hit a home run. Practice makes perfect and the 2nd drink was better than the first. She tried a taste and decided it was going onto the menu. 2 three liquor drinks- 410 tbd 1 spicy ground chicken w/rice-156 tbd Making the world a better place one mudslide at a time-Priceless I almost forgot; the managers sister is the cook and she provided me free of charge these dessert sugar balls. I have no better way to describe them. They were little white balls of something stuffed with raw brown sugar. Very chewy, Not melt in your mouth. The kicker here is the cook makes a batch and spikes one of the sugar balls with hot pepper so you get an unexpected experience you may not have been wanting. From what I picked up on from the body language of the Burmese sisters was, the dessert was free but I was going to get the one spiked hot pepper of the bunch. Didn’t happen. The sister that cooked them got it. Priceless part II. Stop by and spend a few baht with these two fun sisters. Recommend.
