BEST boutique hotel in West Yorkshire.

Booked for four of us for Sunday lunch, and one of the party has a severe allergy to garlic, and the restaurant called back to cancel our reservation because they could not make gravy without garlic!!!! What sort of restaurant cannot make gravy without garlic. Anyone can use an OXO.

We went for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. Not the cheapest option around the town but the service and the food quality was brilliant. James and his team in the restaurant ensured we had everything we wanted. For a special treat it’s well worth trying.

Had afternoon tea yesterday which was quite different from the usual afternoon tea we have had at other venues. It was absolutely delicious! Whoever made the pastries is an excellent chef. Hotel, service and food were excellent. This was a gift from a friend for our 50th Wedding Anniversary and turned out to be a lovely experience.

The hotel itself is nice. The room spacious and well decorated. Air conditioning control panel was broken and flashing all night long. Main hotel service was good, but unfortunately the experience was let down by the kitchen dining area. Very disorganised with too few staff. Not welcomed on arrival and unclear whether to order at the bar or wait for service. Food was okay, but very slow. You could see we werent the only people having breakfast who were getting annoyed with how long wait times were for pretty basic food. Overall i would say that the restaurant service has let the whole stay down. Would i stay again? Probably not.

Yesterday’s visit to The Manor House was our first visit and we will definitely return. The whole experience was a delight from walking up the drive and seeing the impressive building for the first time and to the fountain in the grounds. A very good first impression. On entering The Clock Tower Lounge I immediately noticed the beautiful decor and the calm feeling of the building. We were warmly greeted by a male member of staff and soon seated at our table. I wish I’d got his name as he was an absolute credit to your team. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he was so polite and friendly, just the good customer service I love to receive. Another male member of your team also waited on us and he too was so nice and both were professional. I didn’t visit the bathroom whilst I was there but my husband did and he was impressed by the quality and cleanliness of the gents bathroom. I’ve had afternoon tea many times before in different establishments but yours was by far the most superior for quality and taste. If I had to make one suggestion for improvement is perhaps to include one more savoury item and one less sweet item. This is just my own personal taste and preference as I prefer savoury over sweet and I find on every afternoon tea I’ve had that I’d prefer less sweet items. It is my 60th birthday in December 2025 and I’m already planning to book at least one celebration meal at The Manor House. Thank you for a lovely experience.
