A quirky old house with so much potential. We booked to celebrate my husband’s birthday after reading the recent excellent reviews. Sadly we were really disappointed. The house, garden and pool area at first glance look stunning. However on closer inspection it’s not so good, there is a big tide mark around the pool, although the water appeared clean, a mix of furniture, only a few sunbeds and unfortunately other guests tried to reserve them for later use by putting towels on them (& returning 3 hours later) or moving the beds to the terrace of their room. It doesn’t appear that any tidying of the area is done daily. It was windy and there were many fallen flowers & leaves from the gardens around the patios and in the pool, these were gathering in piles during our stay. There are limited washing airers. The patio table outside our room was very dirty & only had one chair. The studio we had was big but very dark, the shutters could not be left open due to the wind, as there was no way of securing them. The cleaning was not to a standard expected, on arrival we had to request a bath mat and had to ask for the stained bed covers to be changed. We love Greece & the wonderful hospitality usually offered. We have stayed in multiple accommodations in Greece over the last 30+ years (5 on this trip) and were very surprised at the lack of attention to detail. The kitchenette had no cleaning implements (sponge / washing up liquid/ cloth), there was no rubbish bin other than the one for toilet paper. It was boiling hot and all the other hosts on this trip had provided a bottle of water in the fridge . Breakfast was a buffet of homemade cakes (these were lovely), pastries, cheese, fruit etc which was eaten in the garden, but again the tables didn’t appear to be regularly cleaned. With a dynamic cleaning team who take pride in their work it could be a great hotel, unfortunately it’s not at the moment.
