The service, facilities, and food at this hotel are truly impressive. First, the amenities are modern and comprehensive, from the comfortable rooms to the luxurious fitness center, ensuring guests feel right at home. Additionally, the restaurant offers impeccable cuisine; whether it's the diverse breakfast selection or the exquisite dinner dishes, everything leaves a lasting impression. A special mention goes to the hotel owner, Chris, whose warm hospitality and meticulous service make every guest feel genuinely welcome. Overall, this hotel excels in both service quality and dining, making it highly recommended.

Response from Property: Thank you so much for the wondful review and hundreds of photos! Chris and Team Welliesp.s. I think the reference to the fitness center was a typo, unless the guest is referring to our staircase.

The atmosphere was very relaxing, the interior was stylish, and the owner was very friendly, making it a wonderful memory. The breakfast was also delicious. I'd like to go back soon.

The quality of the accommodation environment, the landlord and his wife are very welcoming, and the breakfast is also good. Except that the location is far from the station, it takes a long time to drag the luggage to the hotel. It takes 10 minutes to walk. It is quite inconvenient without a car to pick up and drop off. If this part can be improved, it will be better good

If I had a family home in England, this hotel would make me feel like I was back home. The gardens were well-maintained, the hotel rooms were spacious, and the bathroom and toilet were separate, so I was very satisfied! I'd like to come again! Thank you!

The room has a great sense of design:) It’s a 10-15 minute walk from the station. I enjoyed walking back slowly with the wind blowing~~ The boss and his wife are very cute. I will choose this place again next time^^

The hotel is a private hotel owned by foreigners. The location of the hotel is quite remote. It takes 15 minutes to walk from Nakakaruizawa Station. In winter, there is snow on the road and it is difficult to walk with suitcases. It is not easy to walk to the hotel. There is no elevator in the hotel. You need to carry your suitcase up to the second floor. The so-called mountain view room looks out onto a wasteland, the hotel facilities are also relatively old, and the corners are full of dust. The most speechless thing is that I booked a twin room by mistake. Because I chose the wrong number of people, I was charged an extra room fee for one person.

Response from Property: This review is hilarious. Normally we were 7 minutes walk from Naka-Karuizawa station. If you have suitcases, take a taxi! It's about 8 km from the mountain view of Mount Asama. It's an active volcano, you don't want to go any closer! The rooms are all newly renovated and spotless. Guests should be aware that in Japan you are charged per person, so don't try to cheat small businesses!

A British-style hotel with great characteristics and atmosphere, managed by Chris, an Englishman. The location is a little difficult to find. It is in an alley in a residential area with a small garden and lush vegetation. The surrounding walks are wild and interesting, and the scenery is naturally beautiful. The hotel is decorated in a British-like style, cozy, timeless, natural and warm. The room is very atmospheric, with large windows and a beautiful view. The separate sitting area is very comfortable. The hotel service is like home, attentive, warm and responsive. Although it is not a promise, as long as there is time, the hotel will take the initiative to offer pick-up and drop-off from the station and nearby attractions. Also recommends good restaurants nearby. The hotel's English breakfast is traditional and hearty. Lunch, dinner and afternoon tea are also highly recommended. We just mentioned it in passing, and Chris made British fish and chips specially for us, which was relatively traditional. The hotel's dinner that night was also excellent, with fresh ingredients, many of which were homemade. In terms of quality and taste. The meals are very good value. Excellent experience.

First of all, the toilet paper posted a reminder to throw toilet paper into the toilet instead of the trash can. It was written in English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. However, the Simplified Chinese part was obviously enlarged, and a big exclamation mark was added to each sentence, while the English and Traditional Chinese were not. , Simplified Chinese has a stronger tone and is more targeted. Those who are sensitive to this aspect may pay attention. In addition, this is a family-style accommodation, not a hotel. There are some random things. For example, although it says that there is a pick-up and drop-off service, the boss said that he was leaving for Tokyo early on the day I left. There was no way to drop me off at the station when I left. In the end, I It was early to leave the store and I took a ride with him to the station. Another example is that the room instructions indicate that it is recommended to return to the hotel before ten o'clock in the evening, and the hotel must lock the door. On the second day of my stay, when I went out to play before seven o'clock, the boss called me to ask what time I would return. He locked the door, although it was not mandatory. But there is invisible pressure. If the guest has not come back before ten o'clock, it would be more reasonable to ask again.

Response from Property: We apologize if the toilet description offended you. I'm not Chinese, so I asked a friend to make it. We are a small hotel and cannot guarantee transfers, but we will try our best.

Wonderful hotel with a delightful owner and manager. Warm and cozy bar-restaurant with great full-course meals, a nice deck to soak in the sun, and walkable (20 min) to the terrace and forest reserve. Beautiful location in autumn.

This was the only English-run hotel we stayed at during our 4 week trip. Stayed for 2 nights. We're English, but even we thought it was eccentric - in a good way! Chris was really helpful beforehand, met us at the station, and then gave us loads of advice and info during our stay, took us places up in the hills so we could walk back, etc. etc. The basics: The rooms were comfortable, spotlessly clean, the food was excellent, interesting decor, great British music and chat ( with some AC/DC from the Aussie chef). Plus: Chef made home-made jaffa cakes which were the best you'll ever have. Turtle Doves on the bird table. All felt very relaxed and easy - just what we needed after our 8 hour shinkansen journey from Hokkaido. Thoroughly recommended

Everything about this Hotel is fantastic. The owner and the staff go over and beyond to help you. It is well located with beautiful views to Mount Asama. The rooms were spacious , comfortable and very clean. The food is also exceptional , we were a little disappointed that we could not book one of the local restaurants. However after having dinner at Wellies our disappointment tuned to joy. We wished we could have stayed longer.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, with all proper amenities. The atmosphere of the whole hotel was cozy, intimate, and quaint, with an interior as one might expect at a country hotel in England. The owner, Chris, very kindly gave us a ride to the train station as we went sightseeing on our first day as well as after we checked out. (Though the walk from Naka-Karuizawa Station isn't too bad if you're going by train; about 15 minutes.) The meals were excellent (breakfast and dinner). There's also a nice garden with lounge chairs where you can relax and take in the greenery. Also, check out the world map in the restaurant which has marked upon it the many countries Chris has visited and lived in, as well as photos from his travels. Another thing we really appreciated was the background music in the restaurant, mostly 60s and 70s British rock, and that the music was always at a low enough volume to allow proper conversation. (Too many places these days just blast the volume on the music.) We would definitely like to stay here again on our next trip to Karuizawa.

Stayed her for 2 nights in Japanese winter and it was a great experience. Place has a warm and homey atmosphere. The rooms come in different sizes and layouts. We stayed in the deluxe double with double bed and seating area. The room has large windows and nice views. Dinner was excellent with a lot of homemade food and you can adapt to your liking. Really recommended for a short getaway.

The rooms are all different and offer various layouts/beds. All seem to be recently renovated and were clean and well-appointed with amenities. Although called a hotel, it has a more bed and breakfast type of atmosphere (in a good way). The dining room/restaurant is very cozy and there are different table configurations and some outdoor tables were available (although probably more comfortable for pre-dinner cocktails than the full meal). The food was excellent. We had a welcome pot of tea after check-in. For dinner, we had an excellent cheese board with whiskey-infused salmon, pickles, pate and the like. This was followed by coleslaw accompanied by some ridiculously good tomatoes as part of a Caprese salad. The main was traditional beef stew with Yorkshire pudding and various grilled veggies. Dessert was an apple-rhubarb cobbler with ice cream. All was really good. There were a couple of breakfast options, but why not just have the full-English and be happy? In addition to the food, what will bring us back are the people and the atmosphere. After dinner, people gathered around the bar and in the restaurant to listen to records and chit-chat with each other and the owner, Chris. One of the other guests happened to be a piano teacher and we were able to enjoy her stylings on the piano for a bit.
