I was only in Kassel for one night and wanted to book a nice hotel, so I decided on the Hotel Palmenbad. However, I was extremely disappointed with my stay and left earlier than I had to. The staff were very nice and accommodating but not very "understanding". This is a very old building with old, "worn" carpets in the hallways, stains on the walls, scratches on the doors and a really dirty room. I was very shocked when I "walked in" there was dust everywhere, stains on the TV controls and the towels were greyish and partly stained. I asked for the room to be cleaned again, but the housekeeping just laughed at me and it was "just" dust etc... As someone else has already described, it is loud when the window is open because of the tram and in the mornings the smell of cooking wafts into the room. The hotel is basically in a triangle between two streets. The breakfast was also disappointing: the selection was minimal, the items (yogurt and milk) were not chilled and the already cut fruit was dry. Conclusion: This is a particularly lovingly decorated hotel with attention to detail, which is partly "special", but due to the dirty, dusty overall impression, I unfortunately cannot recommend the hotel and it is definitely overpriced. Although the staff are very nice.
