This is a historic building that dates back to 1548 and has gone through 11 owners. Today it is a spa hotel The hotel sits on a large piece of land, with herds of cattle and sheep in front of the door. The restaurant on the other side has a great view of the lake and a large meadow. Rabbits and squirrels often jump around in the meadow and forest. You can reach the lake through a path, or you can hike in the forest. From the elevator, you can feel that the hotel has a sense of age. The spa has a constant-temperature swimming pool, a cold pool, a hot pool, and an outdoor hot pool, facing a large area of grass and woods, which is really pleasant. The only thing to note is: if you check out at 11 o'clock, you must go to the spa before checking out. After 11 o'clock, there will be an additional charge of 20 pounds per person.

Fantastic hotel, where the staff make the difference to your whole experience. The location and hotel is exceptional and I would recommend a stay to anyone here. A great spa, restaurant was great, and despite it being freezing outside, the hotel was beautifully warm. All in all a great stay

We stayed here for one night, it was really beautiful. The room we had was spacious and very comfortable. The restaurant was excellent, we had an evening meal there and breakfast was good too! The spa and massage we had was totally relaxing. All the staff were very friendly and professional. Thanks to the two guys that looked after us in the bar area. It was a 60th birthday celebration and we will definitely be returning. Thank you.

Stayed 5 nights in this splendid historic estate is like being catapulted to 19th Century Downton Abbey. A superb property with palatial grounds set in a lake & mountain setting. Within just 5 days I had the pleasure of staying in 3 different types of accommodation to get the complete feel of the luxuries that Armathwaite Hall had to offer. I particularly enjoyed the sumptuous breakfast with an extensive spread which I would slowly consume over 2 long leisurely hours. They also have a great spa & pool where I had one of the most relaxing massages in ages. Special thanks to Richard Sidaway the Deputy GM, & to Mark Pienkowski Head of Front Office who personally ensured I had a most enjoyable experience. The enclose pictures says it all. We have just got back from the most relaxing stay at armsthwaite hall- situation just by the lake in a lovely tranquil location, surrounded by beautiful scenery & lots of accessible walks nearby. ALL of the staff here were exceptional, very accommodating & friendly, special mention to Liam & to Akhill, we would definately return for future stays- the ladies in the spa are also fantastic, we had a massage whilst we stayed & it was a very relaxing experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you very much Emma & Peter @ Room 152 x

The perfect place to stay! Warm welcome, beautiful hotel and grounds, amazing rooms and the spa was another level! We ate in the brasserie which had a good selection and was of a high quality, followed by a glass of wine in the cocktail bar which was stunning. Views were fabulous too. Highly recommended!

This hotel remains a must-do destination. I visited recently for the first time in 50 years. Delightfully, this historic building remains well looked after and well-run. Significant thought has gone into maintaining and extending the estate. The hotel’s wealth of historic features and furnishings remains. (The billiard room is a sight to see!). Stunning cocktail bar. Rooms remain comfortable and well-thought out. We had a deluxe room with lake view and a very comfy bed. Modern touches included a TV fitted into the bathroom and the spa is of the highest quality. Our complimentary visit to the wildlife park revealed its heartening ethos of conservation and we were lucky to witness a bird of prey experience in the grounds of the hotel. The deputy manager Richard is attentive and supportive. I am looking forward to seeing what the hotel does with the historic walled kitchen garden, which uniquely has a mountain stream running through it.
