I stayed at the Old Bankhouse on Nov 20-22nd last and booked 2 rooms. These were for 4 adults, 2 couples of who one couple were 80 and 82 years old with mobility limitations (unable to stand or walk for any appreciate time or distance). We were booked into rooms 3 and 18 resp. We were not happy with our stay and in particular with the lack of heating in room 3. My issues were: The radiators in room 3 were clearly on a timer. They came on for approx. 90 mins at 6.30-8PM each evening. Despite being set to a maximum setting on the radiator dial- they were clearly centrally controlled. I called reception on Nov 20th and was told no one from maintenance was available. I told them it was not a maintenance issue- but a central control setting of the heating. Despite this nothing was done and we were given 2 Dyson extractor fan heaters that are manually operated and cannot be put on a timer. This meant that on days when there was snow and sleet and freezing temperatures outside we had to endure a freezing cold room – especially each morning. This is the most important complaint I have. This is just unacceptable and I am not prepared to pay €386 to be frozen in a “luxury suite”. There was also issues with heat in room 18. Again the heaters are on a timer and to have 2 octogenarians in a room without adequate heating- when they wanted it- is unacceptable. When we arrived I learned there was no hotel reception in the Oldbank. In fact it was in another hotel down the street- The Blue Haven. Why is this not disclosed on the website? This is totally misleading. One of the elderly guests in room 18 needs to refrigerate flat back packs that she wears for pain relief in a belt around her lower back. As there was no one in reception in the Oldbank- I had to leave these in a freezer at the Blue Haven and walk up and down between the 2 properties twice a day to get a fresh frozen pack. Totally ridiculous that the Oldbank is not a standalone hotel….as it is advertised online. There is NO mention of checking in at another hotel and that there is no one to help on-site at the Oldbank at any time of the day. There is NO room with a number 3 on the door. Only for I tried our key on the “Post-Master suite” or similar named door and it worked I would have had no clue where to go. We sent 2 Octogenarians to floor 2 (we were told room 18 was on floor 2) by the lift and again they and we could not find a room 18. It turns out room 18 is neither on the 1st or 2nd floor- but on the return half-way up the stairs between floor 1 and floor 2. I only found this out because I had to walk from the Oldbank to the Blue Haven and get the person at reception to come back to the Oldbank and show us where room 18 was. This was a ridiculous waste of time for 2 elderly guests with limited mobility. The rooms are tired and not up to standard. There is wallpaper peeling off the wall in room 3 and a large stain in the carpet in the bedroom area in room 18. There is a knocking noise to

The First room they gave us was awful. Top floor, stained carpet, generally grubby and overlooking the main road. It was not a "beautiful room" as described in our booking. After complaining, we were shown to another room, peeling wallpaper and not much better. We were due to stay 2 nights but left after one night. How it get's an A.A four star rating is beyond me.

8 of us stayed here one night and enjoyed the historic building. it’s older, but has charm. The breakfast was great and their pastries were something to brag about. We even laughed about having to use our room key to open the front door after the staff left for the evening. We walked around this town and loved the pubs that we visited. Traditional Irish music was all around!

Nobody was really interested in taking my reservation - booking page on website too clunky so emailed and then called to make a booking. Asked if there was parking 5 times - no reply so I guessed not. Will be arriving late - do you have a night porter to let us in - no answer ! Tried to book the sister high end restaurant- that was too difficult for them as well !! Only positive was the breakfast and staff at the restaurant- delightful!
