The room is small but clean. Breakfast is semi-self-service. You can freely eat drinks, staple food, fruits, soups, vegetable salads and some local specialties. You can choose one main dish, which is very good. The only thing I didn't feel good about was the day I checked in. Due to the typhoon and heavy rain, I arrived at the hotel at 12 o'clock and it was not the check-in time. I asked the front desk if there was a cleaned room that I could check in first so that I could change my wet clothes. The front desk clerk I checked the computer and said that I could pay 1,000 yen for early check-in. Although the amount was not much, I felt uncomfortable. Friendly staff, the room was quite large and super clean and comfortable. Very quiet too. The parking nearby was easy and cheap. The hotel is situated in the long shopping street which is covered, nearby interesting shops, combini and walking distance from the castle and museum. Breakfast is optional,for about 1400 yen,half buffet,with good choices. Go out for dinner at the wonderful Hirome market! Super friendly atmosphere, amazing fresh local products and the famous" Katsuo no tataki ": seared bonito tuna, you will never eat such fresh,tasty fish and prawns.

Location here is everything as you are literally in the middle of the covered shopping street and Hiromie Market is 8 minutes’ walk away. There are also a myriad of izakayas, grilled bonito, sushi and ramen shops in the vicinity. Daimaru is a few steps away as well. The room was smallish but the beds were comfortable. Wifi worked well in the room. Do note they have smoking rooms/floors as well so do request a different room if you do not like cigarette smoke. The bathroom was tiny but had a bath. They provide a variety of bath ‘bombs’ with flavours like lavendar, grape and orange at reception. We requested for harder pillows and these were delivered within 5 minutes. They do have parking but that is located about 5 minutes’ walk away.

This hotel is in a prime location in Kochi, as it faces one of the shopping arcades, offering you with a lot of food options in case of rain. I paid a rate that included breakfast (which was very reasonable), and you get to choose one main dish and then there is a buffet section with rice, miso soup, salad and some other items. I thought it was pretty good value for this class of hotel. The room was a good size, although it doesn't really have much in the way of a view because the surrounding buildings look a little old and rusty. The shower temperature is finnicky. You have to let the water run for 30+ seconds before it settles down. As a foreigner living in Japan, I was pleasantly surprised that staff acted correctly in not demanding my passport or residence card upon check-in.

The rooms were great. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Breakfast was quite good! We had a delightful time and recommend the hotel to others going to Kochi. The hotel location is excellent and walking distance to so many attractions.

The quality and quantity of breakfast is good for the price. I would like to use this again just for that. The flexible response of the reception was wonderful. The room was old, the futon was damp and smelled a little, and the bathroom had a lot of the smell of old rags, which was unpleasant. It leaves a bad impression compared to the average Richmond room quality.

I chose a place close to the shop I wanted to go to. I came by car from the airport, but the navigation system stopped halfway and didn't guide me to the front of the hotel. I had no choice but to let Google Maps navigate me, and it guided me down a very narrow road, and the hotel was located in a place where I wondered if it was okay to enter by car. The entrance was on the arcade side, and the place I entered by car was behind the hotel. It may be easy to understand for those who come by foot, but I don't recommend it for those who come by car. I parked my car there and asked where the parking lot was, and was directed to an affiliated parking lot that was quite far away (about 5 minutes by car). On the way there, I went straight from the parking lot to the shop in the arcade, so it was fine, but the next day when I tried to go to the parking lot, I couldn't find the way. I went back to the hotel, got a map, and let Google Maps navigate me, and finally arrived. The hotel itself was clean and I slept comfortably. When I ordered breakfast, I was allowed to choose my main dish, so it was a pretty hearty menu for the morning. I went to a sake bar recommended by a restaurant I had been to the day before, and stayed there until closing time, so I fell asleep as soon as I got back to my room. The menu was a bit spicy for me, but I didn't have the option of skipping breakfast because it would be a waste. The buffet was self-service except for the main course, but there wasn't much to take, so it's better to check the menu in advance and skip breakfast if you think you won't be able to eat it. I ordered a small portion of shirasu rice bowl, but it was delicious.

I stayed in a single room by car. The front of the hotel faces the inside of the arcade, so it's easy to get there without getting lost, but it's a little far from the contracted parking lot where you can leave your car. The building itself is relatively new, so even the single rooms are reasonably spacious and have good soundproofing. There are USB chargers provided, so you don't have to worry if you forget to bring one. The desk is spacious, but there are no lights around it, so it's difficult to work there. The refrigerator has an ice-making function (but no ice tray). If breakfast is included, it is served in the adjacent restaurant, and it's worth the price. However, it's disappointing that there are no Japanese teas available for drinks, despite the selection of Japanese food being heavily weighted.
