We were back in the Riva after a few years (after Corona and renovation). The location right on the lake and the ambience are still a dream. The facilities and furnishings are very high quality and tasteful, perhaps garnished with a little too many decorative materials. For some time now, an "S" has been added to the 5 stars, which not only increased the price but also the expectations a little. Our room with a side sea view was magnificent and we slept well in the beds. The fact that you can hear music noise from Konstanz on Saturday night despite the windows being closed is not something anyone can be blamed for. We would also like to emphasize the friendliness of the consistently young service staff, be it at the reception or in the restaurant area. At peak times in the restaurant, however, these committed young people in particular are a little overwhelmed by the flood of guests (the hotel seemed to be fully booked at the weekend). Breakfast is allowed until 10.30 a.m., even on Sundays. The buffet is cleared (after being announced) at 10.25 a.m. - quite understandable, after all, the table has to be set up again for lunch. What we (quite spoiled) guests found a little annoying, however, and which we consider to be "potential for optimization" for a hotel of this class, are the following points: - Regarding breakfast: bread that is still frozen in the middle on a Saturday at the breakfast buffet is actually a "no-go" - since all the tables were occupied or marked as "reserved" at breakfast, guests wander unsuccessfully through the rows of tables. It would help if someone looked after the waiting guests and ideally placed them - the cereal/flake containers should be labeled so that you know what is in them. Not everything is recognizable, not even for the service staff. The "psyllium husks" could only be identified by an employee on the second day - renting "normal" bicycles costs 15 euros a day. Half the price for half a day. A half day is only up to 4 hours long, after 4 hours of use a full day is charged, even if the rental period is in the evening to go out to eat after 5.30 p.m. Aside from the condition of the rented bike (squeaky brakes), we wonder whether this rule is appropriate for a hotel of this class. We would have mentioned these minor points verbally, but the friendly reception staff did not ask us when we checked out whether and how we liked it. As I said, the hotel itself is fantastic. There is still room for improvement in terms of management so that it receives an overall 5-point rating.
