Nice and clean hotel, good location to browse the city. The staff are kind and friendly. The rooms are not big but family of 3 with one big piece of luggage can easily fit in. Japanese style room is very charming but you might need some time to adjust to a mattress firmness. The breakfast selection is rather limited and repetitive.

Rooms are well-equipped with modern amenities while still maintaining a touch of traditional Japanese aesthetics, such as tatami flooring and sliding shoji doors in some rooms. The service at Ala Hotel Kyoto is noteworthy, with staff demonstrating the attentive and polite service that Japan is known for. They are helpful in providing information about local attractions and transportation, which enhances the overall guest experience. However, while the hotel excels in comfort and service, some guests might find the amenities slightly limited compared to larger hotel chains. This hotel is located right near the intersection of Shijo Horikawa. I checked in at midnight, but the front desk was kind and I was able to respond without a disgusting face. The room was clean and the amenities were substantial, and there was a USB port for charging, which was very helpful. However, probably because it was a premise to use a large communal bath, there was only a shower booth in the room. It may be a negative for those who want to slowly soak in the bathtub in the room. Personally, I was happy with the large communal bath, so there was no problem at all. It was also good that the transportation was convenient. From the Shijo Horikawa bus stop, you can go not only to Kyoto Station, but also to famous tourist spots such as Kinkakuji, Kiyomizu-dera, Toji, Nijo Castle, Arashiyama, and you can go to Gion and downtown Kawaramachi without changing trains. You will need to change trains once, but you can also go to Nanzenji Temple and Ginkakuji Temple. If you walk a little, you will find Hankyu Omiya Station and Arashiden Shijo Omiya Station, and it is very accessible for sightseeing or business. There is a Family Mart just south of the hotel, and there are 7-Eleven ahead, so you don't have to worry about a little shopping. The accommodation fee was reasonable and it is a recommended hotel.

We chose this hotel due to itsʻ location and it exceeded our expectations! The hotel staff was helpful and provided information in Japanese and English. We stayed for 13 days and were impressed with the hotelʻs determination to provide us with clean rooms, towels and other items. This hotelʻs location at Shijo/Karasuma made it easy to get to train stations, bus and the subway. There were also many excellent restaurants and shopping possibilities. One of the features we appreciated a lot was the laundry. We also appreciated that it was quiet.. didnʻt even hear people in the halls or doors close. Having lived in Kyoto for a long time, this was our first time to stay in a hotel and would recommend it for sure.

We had a delightful stay at Hotel Pagong with M's in Kyoto. Although the room was compact, it was perfectly adequate for two guests. The service was consistently kind and attentive. The hotel's location is excellent, with a convenient 15-minute walk to Nishiki Market and both a 7-Eleven and Family Mart less than a block away. We highly recommend this hotel for its comfort, friendly service, and prime location.

This station is a big station, only 30 minutes from Kyoto stops, about 15 minutes. Generally, the tour will go to this station and take a cruise ship Baojinchuan. I want to go to the overpass early in the morning, and I want to go to the same two-jo Kyoto. I don't go to the station and I can take the bus for more than half an hour. The north exit of the station is only 1 minute away. The nearest convenience store is the station. There is an Aeon supermarket and a restaurant within 5 minutes of the south exit of the station until 11 o'clock. Single rooms are the size of a Japanese business hotel, absolutely no 17 square meters. Breakfast starts at 6:45, and there is a rice ball to take away in a hurry.

When visiting Kyoto, we wanted to enjoy some time in an onsen resort so we decided to spend two nights in Ogoto Onsen. After checking the details in their website, we booked a ”Biwa no kaze”room with private onsen and view of Lake Biwako. And we were not disappointed. The room looks newly renovated, and is very spacious with two beds and sitting area plus a tatami room. They offer different dinner packages, and we have chosen crab with steak as the main dishes for the first night, and lobster with shabu-shabu the second night. The foods were of very high quality, tasted and looked very nice. The breakfast buffet was very good with a wide selection of different items. The ryokan is excellent in nearly all aspects. We would stay here again when we next visit Kyoto.

I booked an executive room with an independent open hot spring and a halal menu. The spacious room has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake. The dinner is a lot of dishes and delicious! From steamed crabs to thinly sliced beef, you will definitely have a range of cuisines to choose from. I plan to do it again next winter.

I stayed in this hotel several times before the epidemic. It is more than ten minutes' drive from Kyoto Station and a small square from JR Kusatsu Station. For people who are tired from a day's travel, it is more convenient than hotels in Kyoto with inconvenient transportation. I chose this hotel again for my first trip to Kansai after the epidemic. I bought a Kansai Wide Area Tour Pass and it is not a problem to stay here and go anywhere. Although the facilities are not modern, the room area is large enough, and the service and catering of the old-fashioned hotel give people a good feeling.
