The owner and wife were kind and smiley. It was the first guest house and the first dormitory, but the person in the room also communicated with the translation app and enjoyed it! The room was clean and very cozy! I also missed the game of the Nintendo (laughs) and I played it. I wanted to use it when I went to Arashiyama again. *ˊᵕˋ*

An unexpected incident occurred when I first arrived at the hotel. The order information was ”Kyoto Gojo Livemax Hotel”. The map navigation of the order was correct, but when I arrived at the hotel, there was no reservation information. Since I was unfamiliar with the place, I first asked the hotel staff to help confirm the reservation. The address and phone number are not theirs, and then ask the hotel staff to help find out where the address is? Then it was confirmed that it was ”Nijo Castle Livemax Hotel”, and I asked a ********* friend to contact the website to confirm. It was confirmed that the information was incorrect. I hope the website can strengthen it to prevent similar incidents from happening again. I thought I was going to sleep on the street. The hotel is not far from the JR station, so transportation is convenient. It is also clean and tidy. Even though it is a smoking room, there is no smell of smoke when you check in. If you need to change towels, you have to go to the counter to get them.

Everything was fine until the end. In comparison to other hotels I stayed at throughout my trip, this one is cleaner and more spacious. It's close to Tokyo Station, so it's easy to get to other areas, even if it took me quite a while to figure out their operation and routes. The hotel will be cleaned one time every three days. So, generally, it will not be cleaned throughout your stay. However, you can request that they change the towels every day. The check-in and check-out processes were straightforward, however the machine did not accept my Visa card - this is the only site in Japan that did. The hotel also helped you store your belongings before and after check-in/out. However, I was discriminated against by one of the hotel's employees when sending the luggage after checkout. Before me, he stayed near the check-in/checkout machine, assisting a Japanese couple with the checkout procedures and handling the bags. So I waited, thinking he also approached me to assist. However, after assisting the couples, he did not approach me and came back to the counter. Then I beckoned him to his assistance. Instead, he hailed me with his fingertips to come over his counter, rather say anything like “Please come over the counter to do the procedure”. It shocked me. Furthermore, the way he handled my luggage request was really unpleasant. When I asked for his name because I didn't see it on his tag, he became more agitated. So that is why I requested him to write his name on the receipt card. How is it possible for him to treat people so differently? Should Japanese people be treated more respectfully under the hotel's policy? After my interaction with him, all of my positive feelings about the hotel vanished.

The reception staffs were very friendly and helpful. They could also speak English well. Environment is clean and convenient with supermarkets nearby and restaurants too. Even drugstore is very near too.Hotel is quite new and very clean. Highly recommended 👍

11.11 I went to Osaka first. It was one or two stops away from Shinsaibashi. The hotel cost around 350 and the facilities were pretty good (there were a lot of Chinese people). But after I went to Kyoto, the hotel cost around 650 (far away from the business district and in Marumachi). Nearby, close to the JR line, it is a sunken entrance, not easy to find), it is much worse than the ones with more than 300. The room is very small, the bathroom is small, it is very cramped for two people to stand, and there is just enough room to put a The bed and suitcase are barely open, as shown in the picture when the door is pushed open. Although breakfast is included, it is almost nothing. There are only slices of toast, a small package of dry noodles, and drinks, see the picture. A relatively new establishment, Ala Hotel Kyoto boasts one of the finest outdoor onsens I've encountered on my travels. Perched on the 10th floor, the onsen is accompanied by a tranquil zen lounge, ideal for unwinding post-soak or awaiting laundry completion. Though laundry services are complimentary, guests should note that detergent is not provided. While complimentary snacks were notably absent, the expansive onsen facilities and serene ambiance compensated for the oversight. However, it's worth mentioning that the onsen's operating hours are relatively limited, closing at 11 pm nightly, with only two hair dryers available. Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised by its spaciousness—ample enough to accommodate three luggage pieces comfortably. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the bathtub affording breathtaking views of the hotel's surroundings, perfect for soaking in the beauty of sunrise or sunset. Complete with access to YouTube and Netflix, the room provided ample entertainment options. For a delightful treat, indulge in soft-serve ice cream from the cafe adjacent to the hotel—an ideal conclusion to a day of exploration. The bed exuded comfort, while the addition of a sofa near the entrance provided a convenient spot to unwind without soiling the bedding with outdoor attire. Overall, while Ala Hotel Kyoto may lack certain amenities, its spacious accommodations, strategic location, and reasonable pricing make it a standout choice for travelers seeking tranquility and convenience in equal measure.

Staff Are very attentive and quick, they are able to assist you in English too if you can't communicate in Japanese. Transport is easy as it is located about 10-15 minutes away from Kyoto Station which has Shinkansen/JR trains/bus available. Given a cozy room with various options of daily cleaning (none/basic/partial/full) main difference being if you want the bathtub to be washed / bed to be made, so you can hang it by your door to notify the crew accordingly.

When visiting Kyoto, we wanted to enjoy some time in an onsen resort so we decided to spend two nights in Ogoto Onsen. After checking the details in their website, we booked a ”Biwa no kaze”room with private onsen and view of Lake Biwako. And we were not disappointed. The room looks newly renovated, and is very spacious with two beds and sitting area plus a tatami room. They offer different dinner packages, and we have chosen crab with steak as the main dishes for the first night, and lobster with shabu-shabu the second night. The foods were of very high quality, tasted and looked very nice. The breakfast buffet was very good with a wide selection of different items. The ryokan is excellent in nearly all aspects. We would stay here again when we next visit Kyoto.

I used double － m for one person, but when I entered the room one step, I thought, ”Is it not so large?” In fact, when I was arranging my luggage in the room and moving color 々, I realized that if I was alone, I would take a room that was quite easy to use.
