Glenisle Hotel

A nice and clean hotel with friendly staff and great food.

Lovely room, very well equipped, nice bright bathroom with excellent shower. Super comfy large bed. Breakfast was very good, fabulous friendly attentive staff in all parts of hotel.

We booked this hotel for a birthday short stay in Arran - the first time we've stayed in the Glenisle. The hotel makes much on its website of being an award-winning boutique hotel. Our experience didn't live up to that description. We provided these comments to the hotel by email but no response so far. The main issue was that we were placed in the annex next door, not in the main building. The room was average - clean but dated. The bed was average too - a matter of taste, but too firm for ours! Perhaps the rooms in the main building live up to the "boutique" claim - those in the annex do not. Then there's the small customer service things that make a difference to guests' perception of a hotel. In our case, in a two-night stay, there were several. The room door key that won't lock the door - fixed at the second go. The bedlight that doesn't work - reported to reception but still not working when we left. The room coffee and milk supplies not topped up - easy to collect more if you're in the main building but a pain if it's raining and you're in the annex! And finally, the promise of a table with a window view for a birthday dinner - booked a month in advance but when we arrived, all the tables by the window were taken so presumably someone forgot to reserve one as promised? On the plus side, the hotel is undoubtedly in a beautiful location and the breakfasts were great. But our room in the annex and the collection of ******* detracted from the claim that this is a "boutique" hotel. Maybe we would have felt differently if we had been in the main building. Overall, our experience was of a hotel that's average at best and doesn't live up to the price it's charging.

Very friendly staffand good food The bath and shower didnt stay very hot

One night couples stay in June 2024. Staff were friendly and chatty on arrival, check in was easy and we were asked if we would like a table for dinner, which we did. Room was very neat and clean and had everything needed with a large bed and modern bathroom. Dinner experience was terrific, the menu was excellent and we couldn’t choose between three main courses so the staff offered to give us a smaller portion of one of our choices to share… amazing service. We overheard this type of thing happening at other tables with staff doing all they could to look after guests. Brilliant!! The food was as good as the service and we had one of the best dinner experiences we can remember. Staff were the perfect blend of attentive and allowing us time and there was no rush on us at all. Thoroughly enjoyable, topped off by a brownie dessert to remember, re-portioned to suit us sharing. We had a great night sleep in a comfortable bed and a cracking breakfast roll with coffee before leaving. At half the price of certain other places on Arran, I could not recommend the Glenisle more. Genuinely left feeling like we had just visited friends for the night and I don’t think I’ve ever felt that way on leaving a hotel. 👌

We called in here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. It was one of the best breakfasts ever. The staff were super friendly and the room where we ate was lovely with doors out to the garden. Thoroughly recommend having breakfast here, as far as I’m aware they serve it from 8am to 10am.

Just back from a 2 day break at the Glenisle Hotel. What can I say lovely,cosy wee gem. The views are stunning. The rooms are basic but clean and comfy. The food was exceptional. Drinks great selection. The staff were fantastic. Friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble.

My room was so comfortable with lovely furniture too. Tea making facility. Great vegan breakfast and good coffee. Best of all is the really friendly and helpful.manager Joy.. .

Booked this hotel as part of a group booking for a one night stay. Having stayed at this hotel three times previously I was confident that this would be a perfect place stay. What I wasn’t aware of was that this hotel has changed owners since we last visited in 2016. Our room was a cosy double. The room was very cramped with a sloping roof right by the bed, which my husband banged his head on at least a couple of times during the night. The dressing table was cramped and cluttered with a kettle and cups, so no where to put make-up, hairbrushes etc. No water is supplied in the room and by the time we realised there was nowhere open to get any. The room was very hot which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. The bathroom was poorly cleaned, taps that were difficult to switch on. The shower cubicle door had obviously broken and since been replaced with a poorly fitted shower curtain. The door to our room didn’t lock. The standard of this hotel has gone downhill since the change of ownership and unfortuantly this is will be the last time we will stay here.
