Na de negatieve reviews zag ik er tegenop om in het hotel te overnachten, maar het werd een totaal andere ervaring. Bij binnenkomst deelde ik mijn bezorgdheid. De receptioniste bleef zeer vriendelijk en beleefd. We kregen de geboekte suite, maar vonden de 2e slaapkamer overbodig, te groot. De 2e suite was heel ruim met imposante foto’s/ kunst aan de muren. De badkamer en toilet waren gedateerd, maar alle toiletartikelen waren ruim aanwezig. Ontbijt erg goed. Gedateerde zaal, maar niet zo benauwd zoals ik in eerdere reviews had gelezen. Prachtige entree, monumentale trap en zeer vriendelijke receptioniste die ons een heerlijke Italiaans restaurant adviseerde.

Superbe bâtiment et accueil très agréable. Rien à dire sur la chambre (315) très propre et bien insonorisée avec vue sur le blockhaus Dollman. Petit déjeuner exceptionnel et je pèse mes mots. On y retournera d’autant plus qu’il semble qu’il y ait de belles choses à voir au Mans en dehors du circuit automobile.

De entree van het hotel is statig. Op zondagen zijn alle winkels dicht en veel restaurants eveneens en zo die open vaak vanaf 19.30 uur, maar met een uitgestorven centrum op de zondagen……. Gelukkig zijn de bakkers open. Het restaurant van Mercure is helaas op de zaterdagen en zondagen gesloten, jammer dat dat niet in de omschrijvingen staat. Dwz ik kon het ook achteraf nergens vinden. De hotelkamers zijn schoon, met tapijt en airco. De badkamer redelijk compleet, zonder bidet en een bad, waarin ook de douche is geplaatst. De tv had wat groter gemogen dan de 42 “. Als tussenstop hotel, als je onderweg naar huis of Spanje rijdt, voldoet Mercure. Eigen parkeer garage of op een afgesloten binnenplaats achter het hotel ad. € 13,00 p.dg. Dus je bagage voor de eindbestemming kun je in je auto laten liggen. Wifi. Het ontbijt is Frans.

A lovely building with great underground car park but the hotel is tired and in need of a makeover. Positively our privilege room had plenty of space and a great shower but had no individual air conditioning and antiquated lighting system. The restaurant was shut but that was not an issue as it is an internal space without external light and so is quite stuffy and claustrophobic. Breakfast was there and it was average for a Mercure. There is also a small bar adjacent the restaurant with limited seating and it was not attractive to us at all.

The staff was amazing, I will say that. The hotel itself, however, needs to be gutted and renovated. The entire place is musty, and our room was so old no amount of cleaning would have helped it. The carpet was old and stained, the bathroom had a slight smell of urine. We had picked the hotel because of its location and the fact it had a gym, but given how old and consequently unhygienic the place was I didn’t even try the gym. Avoid if at all possible.
