Very good service. Clean, good breakfast. Situated in center of London, very close to Paddington rail station and subway. You can get whatever you want very easy. Nice surroundings. Compliments to Bogdan from reception.

Spacious room and bed was really comfy. Air conditioning didn't work well and we could not lower the temperature in the room which made it stuffy. The bathroom was very tired looking and really needed a refurb. We ordered some room service at 11pm as we were late checking in first night. The menu literally consisted if 2 items. We ordered a panini which was disgustingly bad. We expected more choice and certainly better quality. We complained and the hotel agreed to refund us but still waiting for the refund almost 6 weeks after. Breakfast was really good and made the most of this to make up for the poor food the night before hand. Its buffet style also which is great if you are proper hungry.. Staff were pleasant and helpful, just not sure about the security guys at the front door who look like they don't want to be there and struggle to even say hello, which we felt was very odd.. My review is neutral, we've stayed in much nicer places in London around the same price.

Mercure London Heathrow - Saturday 19th November 2022 - 15:15 Entrance is on street level door and has automatic doors. On arrival there was a coach party queuing and the queue went out the main door. I joined that queue and eventually checked in approximately 20 minutes after I joined the queue. The male receptionist seemed flustered and the female receptionist didn’t seem to be doing much. I’ve checked into other hotels where I have been part of a coach group and they normally make us all stand to one side and then call individuals/ couple over to check in; that way when other guest arrive at least one of the receptionist can switch to the new guest and then they don’t have to join a long queue and be inconvenienced. Our room was on the ground floor but I did see lifts. Room: The usual things like a hairdryer, iron in the wardrobe, fridge and safe in a cupboard and on top of the cabinet was the coffee/ tea facilities but no spoons to stir your drinks. Big TV - there seem to be a decent amount of channels my only issue was the back of the control was missing so you had to jiggle the batteries to get it to work; I took a photo just in case they try to charge me for damage. Bed was comfy, pillows were ok. There is a lamp and spotlight either side of the bed. The switch on the wall by the bed operates the main light, you switch the lamp/ spotlight off using two black buttons under the arm of the lamp; not an obvious way to control the light. A desk with lamp and phone, quite handy if you have some work to do. Bathroom: Floors a bit weird, it looks like they have stuck some Christmas paper over the original tiles to cover something up, poor workmanship, looks cheap, not a good look. Usual towels and shampoos and things; I was going to use the bath mat in the shower but when I saw how dirty and stained it was I didn’t bother. The sealant around the sink and bath taps needs redoing and there is rust around the bathroom taps. Toilet handle is a bit loose and it took 3 attempts to get it to flush. Parking: There are two levels to the parking, I drove into the top level, very tight parking and for a hotel of this size there isn’t enough spaces. I informed the reception I’d parked my car and was informed of the £16 charge for 24 hours. I paid my fee and entered my registration on a system. Bar: Small bar but plenty of seating. We asked a member of staff at what time the bar closed and we were told last orders were at 22:45 which would imply if you went to the bar at this time you could still get a drink. At 22:40 they were cashing up the till. Initially when you walk in the room it looks really nice but then you notice the faults. This morning I went to get something from the car and as I walked through reception you could see the tables from last night hadn’t been cleared as they still had glasses on tables from last night. The pictures on the hotel website and pictures posted by the hotel here on TripAdvisor do not accurately depict the the reality of the place. The pictures containing food are not from this hotel or hotel restaurant. There is no garden sitting or outdoors (garden like atmosphere) dining here. The reality is that the rooms (at least the one we stayed in) are tiny. If you have a large piece of luggage or more than one, you will struggle. The A/C in the first room we were given did not work. This was during a 32+ deg (90+F) week in London. It wasn’t until I told them we were going to check out that they gave me a different room. The new room was a bit dusty and the carpet was very dirty with some large stains by the door. The shower drain did not drain very well, so one had to turn off the shower and let the drain keep up, so that bathroom wouldn’t get flooded. This is not by any means a 4 star hotel. The elevator is very small and only accommodates 3 people without luggage and there is only one. The room halls are narrow and one feels claustrophobic in them. The location is great as it is near Paddington Station, but this is really the only advantage we could come up with. The food in the restaurant which is not really the hotel restaurant is not good, and the service is average at best. The street the hotel is on is dirty with some questionable individuals lurking around. We can’t recommend this place to anyone, and we for sure will never stay here again.

This hotel isn’t all bad. I wonder if I just had a lot of little things adding up to a bad experience. However. My room had no windows. I can live with that, but hadn’t expected it. The overhead skylight had a blind, but there was no way to close it. So there’s the worry about privacy, then early morning light came streaming in. My clothes iron was useless and the plug was loose. The replacement wasn’t any more effective. The phone in the room seemed to connect and disconnect itself from the network. When I needed to ring reception, I couldn’t. And overnight it would light up randomly. Every 45 minutes something clicked loudly. Presumably heating or plumbing, I never worked it out. But it kept disturbing me. None of these things are awful in themselves. But this morning I’m exhausted before I go off for the day. On the plus side, the room is clean and comfy. The bathroom clean and useable. There’s a pod coffee machine and guest mini fridge. The staff are friendly. Breakfast for me as a veggie was standard, which is fine. Honestly, I’d stay again, but never in that particular room.
