Civitel Creta Beach

The hotel is very suitable for a holiday. It has a beautiful environment, a swimming pool and a beautiful beach. It takes 15-20 minutes to drive to Knossos Palace and Museum. The staff are very warm and friendly. The breakfast is very rich. The dinner is a buffet, which is also very good. The next day There will be music and dance performances with Cretan characteristics. All in all, it is a very cost-effective hotel and the four of us are very satisfied. The only drawback is that the room facilities are a bit old and the water in the wash basin in one room is broken.
Malena Hotel & Suites - Adults Only by Omilos Hotels

Stayed here for 7 days in June 2024, as part of a Jet2 UK package. We had a suite with private pool. The suite was well appointed, with a comfortable continental/double bed, two chaise longue, two desks, three chairs and an outdoor daybed. The room also included two large screen televisions, two air-con units, a fridge, nespresso machine, safe, and a 15ft-ish infinity pool. The room was clean, the furniture in good condition and the air-con very good. The pool was slightly exposed to the hotel driveway but was at a height so bathers weren't overlooked. The safe had no key (which wasn't needed) and the apartment above had a jacuzzi above our bedroom so there was some noise from the water-pump cycling 24-hours a day, otherwise the room was very good. In our experience, the room matched the pictures we had seen before booking. The hotel complex was a pleasant mix of apartments set in a garden, surrounding a communal pool and bar/restaurant area. It was very quiet when we visited and there were always tables and sun loungers available. As advertised, the hotel is adults-only, and when we visited, seemed to be generally populated by adult couples of all ages. We booked on a half-board basis and had breakfast and dinner on several occasions. Breakfast was a continental-style buffet, with occasional Greek additions (loukoumades etc), and was fair to good quality. The coffee machine was not very good so we stuck to using the nespresso machine in our room. Dinner was a five course themed menu, each night based on a region of Greece. This was impressive for a small hotel and we particularly enjoyed the salads. The service at the hotel however, was a bit off. It felt like it was an entirely new team and that they were finding their feet. There was no order to dinner service, with different tables being served at different times and some dishes arriving twice. Drinks taking 15 minutes to arrive, cutlery not being changed after each course (indeed, we were told ”you keep your fork”, after finishing our starters) and a strange, nervous energy noticed amongst the staff. Not a massive problem, but very weird nonetheless, particulalry as the hotel was so quiet. Other reviewers have mentioned the location. The hotel is on a busy road, across the street from a coffee shop and very close to a large dual-carriageway, so there is significant outside noise. There is a sports stadium (and when we visited, a circus), an excellent supermarket, a chemist and a decent beach nearby. However, Amoudara is not a resort area, it is a mixed residential/commerical area and your expectations should take that into account. The hotel is surrounded by scrubland with sidewalks etc in poor condition and there are limited restaurants & attractions nearby. Overall, a decent hotel with some quirks, possibly our experience was due to the early season and new staff bedding in. I would strongly recommend pre-arranging private transfers and/or a hire car if you choose to stay here.
Irida Hotel Agia Pelagia

We stayed here in July and I can't say anything else, it is really a top hotel. The arrival and check-in alone is very chill and can be done through an app. This is very nice when you have just finished the flight etc. Staff is very friendly and want to help you with everything. The stay is made pleasant through the same app with which you can arrange many things yourself (think of room service, making a reservation in the restaurant or ordering a drink at your sunbed). The location is perfect because you are right on the beach and because of the location you have an incredibly beautiful view of the sea. So for us really wonderful vacation.

This hotel did not live up to the advertised blurb by the travel operator, Love Holidays. Firstly, the rooms were fundamental, with the furniture required to be updated. The pictures needed to be updated, as the dining/cafeteria area was extremely basic. There should be air conditioning throughout the dining area, as the kitchen is situated close by, with all cooking smells adding to the extreme heat. There was little crockery and cutlery available at each sitting, and the tables needed to be cleared a lot quicker, leaving many tables cluttered with dirty dishes. Our party had to clear our tables to continue the next course. Fresh Juices are squash alternatives, dispensed only at breakfast. One visit to the coffee machine is enough for one week. Many dishes were not labelled, so anyone with allergies could not choose their meal quickly, and it was very bland and repetitive. It also states that there are lifts within the building, but to our knowledge, they were unavailable to the guests. The swimming pool could be more user-friendly for those who are strong swimmers. The minimum depth was 1.3 metres, but you had to use the only steps available at the deeper end, meaning that a non-swimmer couldn't even get in the pool for a cool-down. There were insufficient toilets available around the pool and bar areas. Far too many steps and slopes made it difficult for those entering the hotel with their luggage to get to their rooms safely. There is no lifeguard around the pool. The sun loungers needed to be more sufficient for the number of guests - no tables to sit at in the evening for a quiet drink after dinner, and you had to use the sun longer - never have I experienced this on travels before. The all-inclusive package only offers limited drinks and closes the bar at 11 pm. All local drinks are required, too. Please remember the text below. Positives Great staff. Good Al a carte restaurants lovely gardens & an amazing setting & views on the peninsula. Daily room cleaning. Didn't think the hotel over crowded but it was out of school holiday times & not all the bars by the pools were open! Making some pools a quiet haven (if you want quiet) Very easy to walk to supermarket & restaurants & bars. Close to bus stop to Heraklion. Negatives This is not a 5 star hotel unless you're looking for more than one pool/spa facilities. Our bungalow room though spacious was in need of an update as are many of the common areas. On all inclusive basis even though 5* it's not what you would see in a 3*in the Caribbean. Drinks (including tea/coffee/water) not updated so you go out & but your own. Only soap/shower gel in bathroom. Bed very hard. Air con good but noisy. Private beach is lovely BUT way over crowded. Conclusion 5* you will be disappointed
Apollonia Beach Resort & Spa

Vacation hotel The environment is good, there is a swimming pool and an exclusive beach There are also cute cats to pet in the lobby. Optional meals included (two/three meals a day) It is far from the city, but there is bus line 1 in front of the hotel that can go directly to the Archaeological Museum in the city center. Taxi from airport to hotel 32 euros The hotel can book a taxi. It cost 25 euros for the two of us to go to the port early in the morning. (A Mercedes-Benz business car arrived. I was a little panicked, but it turned out that I was overly worried; cautious friends can clarify the price when booking.)
