My husband and I booked this hotel for a date night out. The lady checking us in was friendly when we checked in. We got up to our room and immediately noticed the loud yapping dog in the room directly across the hall from us. We waited a few minutes and the dog did not stop barking. It was a loud continuous yapping that was very annoying. We did not want to chance hearing that all night and possibly being woken up by it in the middle of the night or early morning hours. So we called down to the front desk and informed the lady. She said that that dog had been there three days and was not an issue but she would look into moving us. 10 minutes and she had not called our room back. So my husband called back down there. She proceeded to to tell my husband how those guests have been there for 3 days with that dog and the dog had not been an issue and that they had not had any complaints and that their first step is usually to try to call the owner to make them aware of the situation. She stayed on the phone with my husband and said we could switch to a different room. I then walked down to the front desk with our keys in hand and was shocked to be met with a very rude tone from the lady. She very angrily told me how the dog has been there for 3 days with no complaints and that the owners just stepped out to have dinner with their grandchildren. I said I understand that but we have a valid complaint because we don't want to risk being awake all night hearing the dog. She said, and I quote, ”I'm not happy about this move.” Quite frankly we are the paying customer and I do not care if she is not happy about having to move us rooms. She gave me the keys to the new room. By this point I was very upset at how rude she was. I took the keys and walked away and she shouted as I walked away, ”You're welcome.” My husband and I travel very frequently and typically we have our two sons with us. But occasionally we get out for a date night. We typically must do at least 15 or more hotel stays a year and have been doing that for at least the last 8 years. Never, and I honestly mean never, have we been met with such an unfriendly and unwelcoming worker. There are dozens of hotels in the Westport area. I would never choose to stay at this hotel again. We are the paying customer. Our complaint about a yapping dog was completely valid and for her to tell me she was unhappy about having to move us is completely unacceptable to me.. And also when my husband and I left the room an hour later, we still heard the dog yapping, as we were just moved to a room down the hall. We also took audio recording of the dog yapping.

Hampton Inn St. Louis/Westport

Maryland Heights|3.63km from Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park
The location of this hotel is excellent for many popular St. Louis attractions and activities. The AC worked great and they actually let you control it without any automated system to shut it off when you are sleeping and there's no movement or when the room is unoccupied (which is hard to find in Hamptons anymore). As of 2/23, the facility is undergoing a complete renovation and there were some distributions, but the staff made up for any issues. The rooms are going to be nice, comfortable and have modern amenities. As of 2/23, rooms on the 4th floor where still under renovation with small details here and there incomplete. This did not distract from our comfort in the least. What DID distract from our visit was the raucous ”music” booming out of the neighboring restaurant, Sybergs. The bass reverberated through the room with the window closed and AC fan on high to the point that I could feel it laying in bed and hear it through my pillow. It was extremely annoying. Management may want to consider improving the sound blocking windows and sound insulation on the side toward Sybergs. If you stay here, ask for a room in the parking lot side of the building if you want to sleep before 1am. You'll thank me! Due to the disruptive neighboring business I was unable to give a 5 star review. This was a difficult decision, but the neighboring business had a major impact on the overall quality of our stay.

Courtyard St. Louis Creve Coeur

Creve Coeur|2.39km from Walgreens
Pros: Clean, comfortable guest room; Good location close to highway, restaurants, and shopping; excellent nightly rates. Cons: Hallways and rooms are a little dark. Note: I typically enjoy hotel pools and hot tubs while traveling but the pandemic necessitated these being closed during my visit, therefore I cannot comment. This is an older property- true to its name with an actual ”Courtyard” nestled in the middle of the U-shaped building. Despite its age it is well-maintained and extremely clean. The hallways and rooms are a little dark (indicative of older Courtyard decor) but the furniture is more functional than what's being installed in new and remodeled properties. For example, the couch is actually comfortable for reading and watching TV, and the work desk has a low, expandable pull-out section useful for laptops. Creve Couer appears to be a nicer section of the St. Louis suburbs, if the plethora of luxury car dealerships are an appropriate indicator. Within walking distance are Aldi and Dierberg's grocery stores representing both ends of the spectrum. Other restaurants and shops are equally close, as is the I-270 interchange. The airport is about 20 minutes away; the heart of St. Louis is a few minutes further. There's nothing exceptional about this Courtyard but my stay left me struggling to find any legitimate complaints. The fact that rooms can be had for outrageously reasonable prices make it a very compelling option while in the area.

I arrived to the Red Roof Inn after working a 16 hour work shift as a nurse. After make reservations over the phone. Justin the GSR greeted me with a hello at the front desk. Justin offered me a bottle water. My reservation was not able to be booked due to computer error. Justin asked if I had time to wait. Justin called the reservation line and got my room booked. In the meantime the General Manager Serena upgraded my room made sure I got my points for my stay. She even went to my room her self and made sure the room was clean. This best customer service ever. The hotel staff is friendly and each one treated me like I was their number one priority. My room was clean and housekeeping staff always made sure that I had enough towels and clean bed linen. The bed was comfortable and the laundry room was always clean. I always request a room on the first floor on the backside of the building. One of the best things about this location is access to the highway and local businesses. My only issue is, hotel guests that leave their trash all over the sidewalks when there are signs indicating where trash rooms are located.
Residence Inn St. Louis Westport
4.5/575 Reviews
We stayed at the Homewood Suites Riverport one week and at the Residence Inn Westport, a couple miles away, two weeks later. Both were one bedroom suites. Same price but the difference was huge. Our Residence Inn room was much larger, had a separate desk for working, and a bathroom completely separate from the bedroom. It also had a complete four burner stove with oven, not just two burners. The bed was comfortable and not jiggling the other person all night long. The biggest difference for us, though, was the air conditioner. At Homewood, it is a big noisy unit under the window, but at Residence Inn, the room is very quiet because they have a nice ducted ac system. This place is relatively new, well-maintained, and feels and smells clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. And they have found a way to serve breakfast in a pandemic-safe way, whereas the Homewood Suites didn't bother to try. We will be making several business trips to St. Louis in the coming months and will stay at this Residence Inn every time.
