The hotel facilities are superb, in line with the five-star standard, the 60-minute free spa is super comfortable, you can use the massage pool and two saunas, the breakfast is very good, you can see the chef is very attentive. The room is very characteristic and not at all. The hotel is the best photo point to climb up to the opposite rock church for five minutes, behind the church is the ancient cave.

We wanted to stay in the Matera Sassi district - this hotel was perfect. It started with staff offering to book a car park in the new area of town. It was walkable to the hotel but we chose to take them up on their offer to have a driver pick us up at the car park - 20 euro for 4 adults. The garage is new and was the easiest parking we've ever had in Italy. Hint: if you're driving, use Google maps on your phone instead of the car's nav system to get to the garage. The car system took us to the wrong place and we talked to another couple who had the same experience. When we put in google nav, we got to the garage easily. Check in was easy and very welcoming. We got lots of info and a nice orientation to our rooms. Everyone was telling us ”relax, this is your home now and we will take care of everything” (and they did). Our rooms were lovely, ours even had a sauna in the larger shower. Nice amenities like robes and slippers and cold bottles of water in fridge at no charge. Note that the rooms are carved out of caves so they are on the dark side. I asked for an extra lamp, and it was very promptly brought to our room. Beds were quite comfy. Breakfast was fantastic! Lots of typical Italian foods along with American basics. The coffee was great, and our waitress cheerfully accommodated our requests. Finally, location is perfect - we walked everywhere. Didn't need the car at all during our 2 night visit. All in all a five star experience!

The rooms are old caves modified to hotel standards and are quaint but comfortable with a small fridge, Sky TV (little in English) and reasonable AC. We enjoyed four nights with friends in Matera. The hotel is well placed, surrounded by restaurants in the heart of the 'Sassi' - Old Town. There are tables and chairs outside the 'Hobbit' style rooms to enjoy an al fresco breakfast or late night drink. There is no bar and reception is closed by 10pm, so you will need to be prepared with beers and drinks. Some reception staff only speak Italian or very limited English. There is no parking at the hotel or for non Matera residents in the Sassi. We found parking at 'Damascus Parking' (details provided by the hotel), was reasonable at 20 Euros per day with a shuttle to and from the hotel. Be sure to organise your return shuttle in good time especially if leaving early. The rooms have a portable dehumidifier which would be well advised to use. If you are not familiar with these boxes on wheels ask the hotel to explain. The access to the hotel and all of the old town is by steps and a labyrinth of paths which are smooth and can be slippery. We advise god trainers rather than flip flops for getting around. We found Matera a charming adventure built in a higgeldy piggeldy warren that is firmly focused on tourism. Three days are more than enough, more would be stretching everything on offer.

Due settimane fa abbiamo tenuto un corso di crescita personale e biodanza presso il vostro albergo che definire un gioiellino potrebbe sembrare riduttivo. A ridosso del centro storico ci ha permesso di vedere l'alba nei sassi. Nella graziosa sala attigua alla reception abbiamo svolto il corso teorico guidati dalla coach Antonella Moccia accuditi e coccolati da Sharon e Emily sempre disponibili ad ogni richiesta, e di Eleonora e Rosalba che hanno tenuto in ordine e pulitissime le nostre camere. Sul terrazzo vista cielo ci siamo immersi nelle musiche fantastiche e guidate dal maestro Nando Gozzi abbiamo tenuto le lezioni di biodanza. Esperienza positiva in questo albergo che consigliamo caldamente per quanto descritto e per la mirabile conduzione del direttore Fabio che ha coordinato tutte le nostre esigenze sistemandoci in camere ampie pulitissime e confortevoli con prezzi indubbiamente convenienti. Magical location in a magical city. Spectacular view from our room across the valley to the cave-filled hillside. It was quiet at night even though close to several tourist attractions. The room, built into an existing cave, was very comfortable and attractive. The staff were very helpful, especially Roberto who gave us excellent ideas for how to explore the city. You can’t park anywhere in the old city of Matera, but the hotel picked us up at the parking garage - just a 5 or 10 minute wait.

We had a wonderful time at La Suite. It was a last minute switch from a luxury hotel too far out of town. We were so lucky to have found la Suite. It was a great location just off the pedestrian area, easy to walk anywhere, the Sassi entry points and the many good restaurants in Matera. Particularly handy in the recurrent rain we faced. The staff were very friendly and helpful in suggesting restaurants etc. Its a great base in Matera. Only hiccup was a bit slow breakfast on the last day when they didn't have many guests and everyhing had to be pre-ordered and a slight miscommunication on the laundry - it showed up finally. All in all a lovely place.
