Our circa 1796 hotel is steeped in history being the boyhood home of our nation*s 15th President James Buchanan -- built by his father James Buchanan Sr. -- Buchanan*s father opened a store in what is now the Pub and introduced young James to the problem of keeping things accounted for and in their proper places. By the time James was 10 years of age his father was one of Mercersburg*s leading businessmen. When Buchanan was sixteen he left Mercersburg to attend Dickinson College. No one at check in . No one told me restaurant and bar would be completely closed entire weekend . And don't even provide bar soap in the room !
Very noisey as well .

The property has some nice aspects, like the historical feel and redone bathrooms, and the hotel is easy access to Mercersburg Academy if you’re visiting a student, but they have a clear service problem—the desk was never attended, the floors in my room were dirty and the restaurant took forever to get our very simple sandwich meal.

Absolutely wonderful and such a beautiful building and area, right near Amish country! I’m sorry that it was a quick overnight on our way home to Maine. So, I plan on returning for a few nights next time.

My room overlooked the street and was very noisy. Between the trucks and people talking on the stairs, not sure how anyone sleeps here. I tried to check in early and there was no one around. Then when I came back later had to hunt someone down. The room was very small and not particularly clean. Will not return.

Priceline errantly broadcasts "breakfast included." FALSE and misleading. The hotel is historical and enjoyable for a couple of nights. Reasonably clean and modernized. Wifi horrible. If adverse to road noise, book a room towards the back of the hotel. Or better yet, book at a legit 3-star.

This was a great quite hotel in a great, quiet town. We were there on a Sunday night so the restaurant/pub was closed unfortunately as it looked like a great place. We had a really ample sized room which is great with kids, our own living room and kitchen to hang out in after the kid's asleep. All super easy to check in and out. And historical to boot!
