Hotels near Inside Magritte in Milan

after reading a few bad reviews about the hotel i was skeptical about it however we found that it is actually very nice and didn't look like the pictures people have put on here. Our room was very spacious, clean and had a comfortable bed; the bathroom was also nice and clean with a good enough shower. the hotel is situated in china town and a bit further out than the main part of Milan so don't be fooled by the hotel name 'city center' because it is not! We didn't mind this though because we had an amazing receptionist inform us that the metro was a five minute walk and so was the nearest tram stop so we used trams the whole time we were there to get into Duomo which was very easy! The receptionist who informed us of this also gave us a map with lots of key places to visit and information about the city which was very helpful to us because we had never visited before (i think her name was francesca). The breakfast was also nice but we thought it had a very random and limited selection. Overall we enjoyed our stay here

The hotel is somewhat off-centre (away from the business districts of Milano), but within broader city centre with reasonable public transport (~20 mins tramway including wait at the stop) and ~10 mins by taxi. Lively city area for non-business travellers (tourists) with choice of restaurants and more public transport links to areas of interest. The cleanliness is rather good, I only scored it less (2/5) because of the interior in bad need of renovation. The design is 1970-s/1980-s and the age since last decoration is probably not much fresher. This gives it the appearance of a run-down place, although they make good effort to keep it clean. The choice of darker brow-nish colours, combined with the installation of (very) very economic light bulbs, makes the room feel too dark and thus - less pleasant to stay in. For a business traveller it is impossible to read anything outside the spot of the reading lamp. It is also impossible to shave in the dark-ish bathroom, except for people who know their face well enough to shave with their eyes closed. The extra lamp above the mirror did not work, it was a bare little bulb (apparently in need of replacement) and the lampshade gone. Further need for maintenance in the bathroom was the sink - with the waste plug not opening to empty the sink, and the latter filling to the safety hole near the top, even form just a brief handwash.. The breakfast area has capacity for a busy crowd in the rush hour of all tourists taking a late breakfast, but the staff struggle to serve everyone fast enough. Some supplies were not replenished (e.g. bread, the fruit juices, milk for coffees) and later nobody ever came to the table to ask if we need something (perhaps they are not meant to serve tables, just clean them and replenish supplies?) The reception area was much brighter lit than the rooms, had modern automatic glass doors, and overall felt newer and better. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Based on the overall experience, approx. 4/5 is a reasonable score, but by the hotel categorisation criteria I think 4 stars is too much and 3-star would describe it more accurately. They should remember that satisfaction is always biased by expectations - from the higher expectations of '4 stars' there would be more dissatisfied guests (like yours truly) than if you honestly promise a decent 3-star experience (then I'd have scored everything 5/5). This wouldn't impact revenues as, from what I know form MIlano hotels, the price was very competitive and would fit a 3-star property. Would I recommend it? To tourists - yes; to business travellers - only as a backup in case of fully-booked Milano like duringthe trade fair or Fashion Week ;)

The Conceirge, Savo, went above and beyond and completely exceeded our expectations when assisting us with travel plans. The room was cleaned twice daily. Front desk staff were all professional and kind. The food was wonderful. Our room had a lovely view of the park. We enjoyed the walk to the Duomo and charm of the surrounding area. We were happy with everything this hotel had to offer.

In Milan, I have also stayed at B&B Hotel Milano Cenisio Garibaldi, Hotel degli Arcimboldi, Lloyd Hotel, Hotel Pierre Milano, Hilton Milan & Mokinba Hotel King. My reviews, to compare, can be found on TripAdvisor. Pros: - Location: (Walking) Porta Nuova (6mins), Corso Como (8mins), Brera Art Gallery (15mins), Monumental Cemetery (17mins), The Fashion District (20mins). - Bathroom amenities: Soap bar, combined shampoo/body wash, shower cap, hairdryer. - Free in-room WiFi (average speed approx. 29Mbps). - Quiet at night. Cons: - Room design is rather impracticle: no chair with back if you need to work (only a pouf stool), small desk not deeper than a laptop, almost no storage spaces, very dimly lit, bright neon light for the keycard slot that you cannot disable during sleep, in-room safe not large enough for a tablet or laptop, no door on bathroom area (so if you travel with someone else, make sure you are comfortable seeing each other intimately). - Breakfast is quite odd and overpriced. Located in the reception area, you can see and overhear all the discussions with guests (or gossip among staff about guests, which we found rather unprofessional!). A set menu plate with no choice (so we had a lot of food wastage). No standard items, ie. no fruit yoghurt, no cereal, no pastries (only a mini donut and mini muffin), no fresh fruit, no hot food, savory items only a couple of slices of ham and cheese from a plastic supermarket packet. Same items every day, mainly bread-based. - Staff need more training for a 4-star hotel. Check-in was slow, used toiletries not replenished when cleaning rooms, unprofessional staff behaviour as mentioned above. - Quality of towels and toiletries very low (more suited to a 3-star hotel). - Many fire escape maps in the hallways are completely incorrect, wrong room numbers and wrong hallway designs. Unsure how these passed safety inspections.

Service: Glam Hotel did not honour the booking but instead they put me up at Smart Hotel next door. Hence the review is on Smart Hotel. No explanation was given by Glam except that they had issues with their reservation system. My friends checked in 1 day earlier with no issues. Smart only provided body shower gel. No soap toothbrush etc.i also could not adjust the room temperature. It was hot. Room was clean though.

We requested for high floor but was given ground floor which is just next to the street and it was really noisy. We couldn’t open the curtains or window as well. We did not complain as it was just a night stay and we were leaving early in the morning anyways. Mattress was quite hard and the pillow was quite soft for my liking. Room was quite small for 2 pax and 2 large luggage and it the design didn’t look like what we have booked but the room we have gotten still looks acceptable. The only thing I didn’t quite like was the bathroom floor. It was the same level as the bedroom. So as we showed, some of the water will flow into the bedroom. Other than that, it was a comfortable stay.

The hotel is very close to the train station, but the entrance is quite small, causing some difficulty in finding it. The breakfast on the top floor is excellent, and the rooms provide a view of the train station.

I stayed in this hotel for almost two weeks in March and April 2023. I was satisfied in every way. The reception staff are all very experienced, helpful and kind. Special thanks to the Mr. Stefano and Mr. Simon and the all other colleagues. The breakfast was also very good. The hospitality of the ladies in the breakfast section was excellent. I had a long stay and the hotel staff treated me in such a way that I didn't feel like I was away from home. My room was big and very clean. The ladies who were in charge of cleaning the room were experienced in their work. All in all, I had a very good experience of staying there and I also strongly recommend this hotel to others. I was so happy that the hotel is located 300m away from the metro station that has elevator and escalator access. I was carrying a luggage that is 40kg over and I’m happy that the metro it’s not far from the hotel. The hotel staffs upon checking was very nice and I decided to extend 1 more day and the staff was happy to assist me on that. My room was at level 6 which is great because I prefer staying at high floor (level 7 was the highest). When I inspect the room upon checking-in, it was very clean althought they only provide soap, shampoo, towels & toilet rolls. No toothbrush etc. which I don’t mind at all because I brought my own. The housekeeping was great although some only speak Italian and don’t understand English but they did their job in cleaning my room every single day, just like how I entered it on the first day. They did change the towels to fresh towels and make my bed. Overall, I will stay again at this hotel whenever I’m in Milan.

Had a room with a balcony. A nice view from room on upper floor Staff are in general polite. Even 🏨 is not in downtown Milano, guests can utilize public transports to move around. ( - )Lack of commodities in the 🚽.
