Expected more. There was no instruction in how to get there! We had to search on website and it wasn’t even accurate. The hotel cannot be reached by car but the website said we could reach by car. In reality we had to park at a certain car park spot which is far away from hotel and hop on the hotel bus, then get on the ferry. Staff english was very poor as well. The hotel was very outdated. But nice view.

Really unique hotel that is built on a cave! The room was very clean and big with an amazing view of pacific ocean. I really enjoy the various onsens especially the cave ones. It is highly recommended to anyone who is looking for a special onsen experience.

Nice hotel with superb hot springs tag along with its natural beauties. Unfortunately not much of food choices and always full booking, only a Lawson inside the hotel.

Pretty good place. Staff can speak little English, but enough to get the idea across. The location is great though, it feels like an island resort, but without beaches. The onsens are great though, you can feel and see the waves crashing against the cliffs right next to you. It's unconvinced in that you need to take the ferry, but there is a road and bus there if you miss those. I recommend trying to get the rooms in the building in the back side of the mountain or the expensive ones at the top building, which also has an exclusive onsen with a top view.

Urashima is a unique hotel with friendly service, good buffet dinner and breakfast. The cave onsen is truly unique. Although the hotel seems full, the onsen didn't feel crowded as the opening hours are long

The hotel and port town feels like a time capsule but they are charming. It was nice coming here to chill and rejuvenate after a long arduous hike through the Kumano Kodo trail. The view of the Pacific Ocean from the rooms were amazing and so was the experience of watching waves crashing right next to the onsen from a cave was simple awesome. Take time to discover the garden that’s on the top of the island, especially during sunset. It’s amazing. But don’t expect much from the buffet. It’s not bad but not great either. Highly recommend that you go to the market by the pier for lunch.

Like a journey back in time to the Showa era. The huge building complex is mostly well preserved and well maintained. For me it was an extraordinary opportunity on a trip that I have actually been planning for about 30 years to at least get an impression of what it might have looked like back then. The diverse onsen (with a special atmosphere at the two in the caves) are not only relaxing but also relieved my neck tension enormously and at the right time of day (around 10:00 to 11:00) they are not very busy. If you manage to get up at 5:00 a.m. you can also enjoy the sunrise there. The Japanese-style room in the Nisyokan building was generously sized, well equipped and soundproofed. The breakfast buffet is fresh, extensive and is carefully replenished. If you time it right, you can take the Space Walker (three super-long escalators like in the Moscow metro) up to the Sanjokan building (otherwise you can take the elevator) and enjoy a wonderful view in all directions from there. The entire island is criss-crossed by an extensive tunnel system to ensure not only the transfer of guests but also the entire logistics. I actually don't even want to know how much it costs to maintain this huge complex and hope to be able to stay there again in the next few years. At the entrance to the Boki-do spa there is also a photo documentation of how the hotel and the springs have developed over the years.

The hotel is on a peninsula. Cars from outside cannot enter. You need to take a shuttle bus or ferry to enter the hotel. The hotel has 4 buildings connected by cave tunnels. The hotel has many kinds of hot springs. The guests who come to stay are mainly Japanese who take hot springs. People wearing hotel clothes are everywhere, either on the way to the hot springs or on the way back from the hot springs. The scenery on the top of the mountain is very good and can't be missed. There is also a whale house opposite the bay.
