Comfort Inn Prospect Park-Brooklyn

New York|2.1km from Hometown Bar-B-Que
We have now stayed twice at this Comfort Suites ”Prospect Park” and the first piece of advice is bring your walking shoes. It's a 10-15 minute walk UP the slope to the SW entrance of Prospect Park. That's fine for us, we loved the Park and (closer) walking historic and amazing Green-Wood cemetery. We're regulars at Comfort Suites in several different states. This one is more on the expensive side, but I think it's a decent bargain for NYC (we paid $300 per weekend night). From MTA ”R” train, it's a 4-5 block walk from 14th street station. We drove up in 2021 and lucked into a parking spot out front - don't count on that. Parking is VERY limited at the hotel, auxiliary parking two blocks away under freeway. Remarkably, that freeway does not seem to add to the noise at this CD...BOTH our stays (2021 & 2021) were quiet...and each time we had rooms facing 20th street. These are NY-sized rooms, but they are clean, comfortable and modern. Our room was ADA accessible (though we didn't ask for it) and had a big walk-in shower. These rooms only have one chair (at desk)...an additional compact or folding chair would be helpful. As regular travelers...we notice the lack of horizontal space (shelves) in these rooms -place to put your ”stuff”. Also, the shower had no place to PUT the complimentary soap, shampoo etc. Who builds a shower like that? Nonetheless, the bathroom was clean and spacious enough. Breakfast area is small by ample food to get you started for the day. It seemed to get busier toward 10am...so eat earlier and avoid the crowd.. We had coffee and a muffin...then walked to breakfast up near Grand Army Plaza at Prospect Park. One final bit of warning about walking in Brooklyn...the rapid growth in the use of scooters, e-bikes, etc., means that the ”bike” lanes are now MORE dangerous than crossing traffic! Look carefully before crossing the bike lanes, or you could get flattened by an e-bike going 30 miles an hour with somebody's dinner to deliver. Our observation: most of the bikes are now electric, and most pay little heed to traffic signals. Like mom said... look BOTH ways, every time.

Everything is fine. The location is convenient, 20 minutes by subway to Manhattan, an hour from the airport by public transport. The internet was bad. Not very clean rooms.

My room had a nice view. I originally booked it for four nights, but I couldn't check in due to something unexpected. I applied for a refund and the hotel agreed. But one thing that made me very angry at the time was that the staff didn't lock the door for me after house keeping was completed. I went out at noon and came back at three o'clock in the morning. There was no theft or anything like that. The ice machine was right at the door of my room. There are so many people coming and going that it makes me scared just thinking about it!

I really like the hotel's add-ons given that it is a budget hotel. Has a gym, some free drinks (but give up the coffee, it's awful), ice, free breakfast. I hope the hotel and change it). The room is tidy and the public spaces too. I didn't get lucky enough to get a room with a view of the statue of liberty. But I can't ask for more for the price!

We were generally pleased. The Emrah Bey at the reception he met all our requests, laughed and helped. Ms. Ayla helped us to spend my son's birthday in the best way. The service of the tube was very good. The staff working in restaurants and bars were very practical and lazy, we were happy with the service. Barmen Tolga Mr. is our favorite. The lady Zeliha was very well careful of us. We admired the energy of Vlada Lady from the animators, was very kind, she added color to our sofas and made the hotel even more beautiful. Thank you very much. We had a nice holiday.

The environment is average and the window locks are broken, but the service is okay and the service attitude at the front desk is very good.
