Cost £596 (One Night) Ok so I thought facilities and cleanliness where good. The ocean suite family room has been refurbished to a v-good standard. Happy. Pool facilities are good too. I do have a gripe tho, and it's a big gripe, not financially, but out of principle. So you get the bill after dinner and it states gratuity... So I tip £5.00 out of common courtesy. But then further down you read that there is a 10% service charge. So this is a bit of a con. But I would be fine with this if the food was amazing, but it wasn't. I had the fish and chips which honestly, as a man that will eat anything, I just wasn't keen on. The three fish slithers where tiny (strange as white fish is readily available in Cornwall)... But they were also very greasy, because they where so thin. It was disappointing. The food is well presented, but honestly, the taste is below average. The wine is good. I'm hoping breakfast makes up for the average dinner. Staff are good. Pool is good. We live in Cornwall so we only come to the hotel for the rooms, view and pool. Newquay it's self is a dive now. In summary food needs to come up in standard (taste wise) and it will tick the basics.

From the moment we arrived we felt at home. Ken was amazing, bags very promptly taken to the room, and a great use of guest name. we used both spa areas, all spotless and the teams were all welcoming and friendly. The views from the jacuzzi are stunning. Pre-dinner cocktails were fantastic, Stevie was great and clearly has a great understanding of all cocktails. Dinner in RenMor was great, I highly recommend the cote de boeuf, cooked to perfection. The team again always on hand should you need anything, and also made to feel welcome. Breakfast is a feast, such a selection of continental, and the cooked set us up for the day. To mention Ken again, we sat in the hall for a few minutes and Ken came over to ask if we wanted the fire lit, I declined, as I would have stayed all day! 10/10 experience and highly recommend. Thank you to the whole team for making our stay so memorable

Enjoyed a stay at Headland recently off season, which was nice. Overall its a very good hotel and the staff overall are excellent. Its a nice privately owned traditional luxury hotel where service matters. Views are amazing, decor is traditional but freshened up, Spa is great but missing a steam room. A few hiccups with coffees not arriving at breakfast, no table salt and pepper and things like that. Also the room service menu, whilst being pretty good and tasty, was missing items most nights. Would give it 5, if these little details were ironed out.

I treated my daughter and myself to an Indulge Spa day. This is their priciest package which promises luxury and indulgence but does NOT deliver. Access to the VIP lounge? Yes, only briefly as it is not accessible during the day only at the end. And we left it pretty promptly because it was so poor. See the pictures for its underwhelming features. TV? Were the fridges meant to be there as decoration? Or in use? On a happier note, the Spa was very good and the Aqua Club was a real treat. The Afternoon Tea was quite good when it arrived. Unfortunately, we did have to wait quite a while. No-one had checked our booking (made the month before) or asked us on check in, to see if we had any dietary requirements so they brought out the non-vegetarian option. It took some time to correct. Didn’t enjoy having our Indulgent Day wasted on waiting. Our massage was lovely and we both felt very relaxed afterwards. We were both looking forward to the Rhassoul treatment but I got the distinct impression that we were being rushed through it (probably so they could clean the room and go home). Instructions were briskly given before being left. No idea if we got the pots correct as there was no way to remember and no labels on the jars. The steam was set running by the staff member when she left. This meant it was nearly done by the time we had scrubbed and applied mud and actually got in to enjoy it. Very disappointing. I don’t recommend the Spa Days here at all. But for general use of the facilities, it is good.

Also mention to those who looked after us in the restaurant including manager Ryan, Molly, Louis, Ruby & breakfast/dinner supervisors (names not recalled). We booked a self catering cottage (Beach 1) at The Headlands to celebrate a big birthday. I was completely underwhelmed by the cottage, although the location is 5 star the accommodation itself is far from. Mould on the bathroom ceiling, tired looking shower curtain, broken dishwasher utensil basket, and unstable fridge. Window shutters could not be closed without moving heavy furniture, extremely uncomfortable sofa which seat cushions needed readjusting constantly. Bed frame unfinished with yellow staining. The welcome tea tray included Cornish tea leaves to be enjoyed however teapot provided could only hold enough water for 2.5 small cups when the cottage caters for 4. We was not made aware that it was 1 double room and 1 twin room, we was not contacted prior to our stay to discuss bed configuration either so was disappointed on arrival. Since arriving home we have emailed The Headlands raising these issues however it seems the only customers they are interested in keeping happy are future guests - no consideration has been given to my disappointment with my stay.

It's been a few years since we last visited the Headland and boy have they been busy. The Aqua spa centre has been finished and it's a real gem. The main hotel restaurant has also had a massive makeover and they have done a great job. Ultra efficient friendly staff (special mention to Mai). We stayed in the cottages and they are perfect if you're travelling with your dog. Look out for packages as you get lots of extras thrown in to tempt you to visit off season. Any whinges? by all means theme your afternoon tea for Christmas but as a current/raisin hater it meant sadly there were no cakes for me. Our package gave a discount on an evening meal in the restaurant but I think if I was eating there more than once then I'd be disappointed with the range on the menu. But the location is stunning, the facilities great and the staff excellent.
