I have stayed at this hotel 5 times in a row. It is also the hotel where I have stayed at the same hotel most times in Japan. Compared with the super popular Ginzan Hot Spring next to it, I prefer Elbow Hot Spring. It is a very quaint hot spring street and has many attractions. With a century-old history, I highly recommend this hotel. The boss is super nice and the waiters are super considerate. Every dish uses the freshest local ingredients. It definitely reaches Michelin standards. Every time I go there, I have a different feeling. It makes people feel at ease. A different style of Japan, I will definitely go there again!

A tasteful old inn in a hot spring town. It is located behind the former Hijiori Onsen Post Office. The hot spring town itself is small, and since I visited during the winter, it had a quiet impression. The inn faces the river and has an open-air bath on the rooftop. The meals were locally produced for local consumption, and I was able to enjoy the delicious delicacies of Yamagata. In particular, the imoni was made with plenty of wild vegetables, and I even wanted to stay the night to eat it again. It was about an hour's drive to Shinjo Station, but I was grateful that the inn provided a shuttle service.
