Best Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa Downtown
Best Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa DowntownBest Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa Downtown
Hull | 1.47km from Library and Archives Canada
The Best western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa is the best kept secret in the National Capital region. We are proud to state that we do offer the most breathtaking views - overlooking the Parliament Hill and its library, the Byward Market as well as the Gatineau Hills and city of Gatineau on the other side of the building. With such an ideal location, we are located only a few minutes by foot from the Alexandra bridge, and a convenient 10-minute pedestrian cross-over to the Byward market. Close proximity to many tourist attractions, like the National Art Gallery of Canada, means that a little cultural experience is always an option. Parliament Hill is another must-see attraction and is only minutes from this Gatineau hotel. Our family-friendly rooms, some with balconies, are well-priced and comfortable. On the Gatineau side, we are conveniently only steps away from the Jaques Cartier Parc, the Canadian museum of history as well as the Convention centre. The hotel boasts 133 non-smoking rooms and suites, a heated salt water indoor pool and is the only waterfront property in Hull that overlooks the Ottawa river and the magnificent Parliament Hills. With over 4,500 square feet of event space, encompassing four conference rooms and a grand ballroom, which can accommodate up to 250 people, we offer a variety of options for any group event such as day conferences, seminars, conventions, Management retreats, media events etc. At the Best Western Plus-Ottawa, we leave the choice to our guests whether they want breakfast included in their rate or not. This allows us to maintain competitive price points, which many guests appreciate. We offer a variety of rates that may or may not include services such as breakfast and/or parking, so please make sure to read what is included in your particular rate. We look forward to welcoming you to your home away from home.

I booked 3 rooms as I took my associates to Spa Nordik. We checked in late at night and it was seamless, staff was friendly, lobby looks wonderful. The rest of the hotel though, at least the seventh floor needs updating and repairs. More effort needed to be put on cleaning, very disappointed of the cleanliness of two of my three rooms. Every other BW I stayed at had breakfast included, here there is a $15 charge for a continental breakfast. You can spend about $15 elsewhere and get a full breakfast with bottomless coffee. All I wanted in the morning was a fresh coffee, I did not want to spend an additional $90 for myself and associates just for coffee. I was willing to pay for the coffee but was told “it was not an option.” Really folks? I think the owner, manager, and BW chain should be embarrassed about this. $220 for each room, and I was not able to buy a coffee, in fact a multi million dollar business like BW should’ve just given me one. embarrassing

This hotel is pretty old and it shows, but the room was quite pleasant and spacious and the bed was comfortable. Loved that there was a room air filter machine plus an internal AC unit, though it didn't work terribly well. There was also a white noise machine which was lovely. The bathroom is super-small and the only disappointment during our stay. The staff was very solicitous and professional. Did not enjoy having to pay for parking over and above the cost of the room (that was a surprise), but I guess downtown hotels can command these fees. All in all a very pleasant stay, and I would book again if I could get a deal through Trip.com (rack rate is very pricy).

In central Ottawa, we’re located less than a half kilometer from the Shaw Centre and shopping and entertainment at Byward Market and CF Rideau Center. The University of Ottawa is only 400 meters away. Indoor parking beneath the hotel, several event rooms, a fitness center, indoor pool, and an on-site restaurant and bar complete your stay.

GGuest User 2023.02.21
Stayed at the Novotel for a week in early Feb 2023 while attending a conference at the nearby Westin. I booked for a really low rate through hotwire. After a pleasant check in I was excited to come into a very large on the 8th floor with a separate seating area and a very large TV. Room was pretty clean although when packing up before check-in I found some items under the bed that did not belong to me. Location was perfect, right across from the Rideau Centre and the Westin/Conference Centre and within a short walk to the Parliament Buildings, Sparks Street and Byward Market. My only compliant is the walls must be paper thin as I could hear the ding of the elevator and conversations in the hall from my room. I was also there a four hour during a power outage in the evening. I assume the outage was unscheduled but there was a lot of confusion and no one at the front desk when it occurred. The hotel shares a building with a DND office which made it confusing leaving the building by the stairs as the stairway lead to a entrance that read ”DND property alarm will sound”, it took awhile to figure out how to exit by the stairs.

• The Motel Adam Report (G-town, QC @ Feb. 2022) Cons: icy parking lot; not a kitchenette w/ stovetop for that price ($3,200/month); 2nd door lock sticks a lot, which is obvs dangerous re 🇨🇦 terrorism; washroom cabinet design flaw —> no handles + slams shut; handicap bar taking space @ an already too-small shower makes it exceptionally difficult for someone severely disabled to shower @ that too-small washroom; incl. brekky incl. *untoasted* bagels directly from the pkg (w/out even toasters @ the rooms) (!); hotel necessities not accessible for the guests, which should be common Covid practice @ 2022—guests should NOT have to ask; TV remote often didn’t even work (ex. try to adjust volume & the cartoon network appears, repeatedly); temp gauges fluctuate a lot, require frequent adjustment; someone STOLE our DND sign; hotel staff shovelled front walkway loudly @ 8am @ a Sat.; wifi sign-in requested repeatedly & then didn’t work AT ALL 1 day; a different day, all the water was orange (sink, tub, ‘n’ toilet); snowplow beeping loudly & repeatedly @ our parking lot @ 5am @ a Sat.; water @ entire hotel (or city?) went kaput morning day checking out (when we were rushing anyways—disability); key expired day we were checking out before that, when we were rushed, esp b/c of water issue The insisted-upon-by-the-motel-owner-visiting-our-room-w/out-warning-&-even-coming-inside-(!) “cleaning” EVERY DAY W/OUT EXCEPTIONS: put 2 dirty towels there + NO soap (took ours w/out stocking) + ignored our simple safety/disability request re *not* uncovering the window (but crumpled the note it was on); then it was done inappropriately differently each day, often taking our soap w/out replacing it + putting both toilet seats UP; had to go no matter what—even day experiencing intense disability flareups; stole at least both soap & Kleenex instead of stocking those; tossed our note once; evidence of our stuff being touched for NO reason; our DND sign was stuck to the wall using our post-its once, suggesting a more personal B&E; evidence of our stuff being stolen, including from the fridge—so we stuck a “do not open” sign there & then the motel cleaning staff put a long, curly hair in there… Pros: motels are preferable re not requiring a mask (‘cept @ lobby of course) + less crowding; windows easy enough to cover sufficiently & door easy enough to wedge closed; microwave; decent shower water pressure; toilet doesn’t break (til day before we relocated); dressing area

I rarely stay in hotels however I came to Ottawa to celebrate a kilometerstone (milestone for Americans ;-) birthday and decided to splurge a little. I was able to talk a friend into coming with me. I first saw this hotel on TripAdvisor, went to their own website and found I could book 4 nights for $119/nt. I spent about an hour looking around some of the big Internet travel sites and found the exact room promoted on one of them for $89! I called the hotel and asked if they price matched. After about 10min of them looking online to find the promo I was looking at, the shift supervisor approved the match! I had to agree to pay for all 4 nights whether I used them or not. I didn't care because I was coming! The location is GREAT, next to TransCanada/417 highway. That was very convenient as I had to drive to Carp the next morning and that was the highway I used. I was on that expressway 2 minutes after leaving the hotel! Check in was fast and efficient. The person checking me in was confused when I told her I was on a $89 promo, she had not heard about it but eventually found some notes on my reservation in the computer. Even though there was free parking, I wanted to leave the car at the hotel most days and take public transit downtown. I had heard even with the government shut down, parking was scarce and expensive in the city center. On check in I happened to ask how close a bus stop was to take us downtown as I wanted to do the double deck Grayline tour on Sunday and Monday. The desk clerk said I didn't need to take the city bus as the double deck bus picked up their guests every morning at 9am at the hotel! BONUS! I'm glad I asked. Our room was on the fourth floor and included two very comfortable Queen beds with 7” mattresses and fluffy comforters, a very nice bathroom, 40” LCD TV, small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. They also had WiFi that worked great! There was only one ceramic cup and one plastic cup for the first night, we would have liked two ceramic cups but it was too late to call down and ask. Both my friend and I noted how quiet the surroundings were. Almost the entire floor had booked rooms for two nights but we didn't hear much noise. Also, we were on the back side of the hotel not facing the street or highway so that may have contributed to it. If I were to return, I would ask for a first floor room on the same side of the hotel as each had direct access to the parking lot. Although the room was very clean and comfortable, there were not enough electrical plugs and the only available one to plug in my cell phone and computer was so worn out that the cables would not stay in the plug. I always bring extra cables, I had a long extension that ran from near the head of my bed to the table at the other end of the room. Without it, I would not have been able to charge my devices. One thing that would help is a USB hub of some sort on the night table - maybe a hotel lamp with USB hub built in. That would hav

I found this hotel by fluke. They gave me an AMAZING rate. I'm a fairly picky person, I was concerned prior to arrival that this property may not be up to my standards. When I arrived, I was greeted with a friendly smile at the desk. Upon entering the room I was impressed. So clean. Didn't smell like stale old cigarette like MANY non smoking hotels still do (i travel, a lot.). There was no old musty smells. Nothing. It was wonderful. Beds were comfy. My only real complaints and they're not even that really, was that the heat/ac unit doesn't know when to shut off on its own, and the bathroom fan was extremely annoying. Other than that I loved my stay so much I have booked the motel twice more for future visits to the capital. It's in a very accessible area, anything you need is a very close proximity. The muffins in the lobby in the morning are moist and fluffy. It's homey and quaint. Felt almost like I was cottaging, but inside the city. I can't say enough amazing things about this place. I cannot wait for my next visit! See you soon, and thank you for the incredible hospitality.

I loved this hotel! A little off the beaten path, but worth it due to good pricing and proximity to Tanger Outlets and the highway. I've visited twice now and will be sure to book again when needed. Pros: Rooms are a very decent size, and the hotel just opened recently as of this review, so everything is gleaming clean and new. The beds are very comfortable, and the bathrooms are lovely. Cons: The TV could be a little larger, and I'm sad that despite marketing materials to the contrary, we weren't able to connect the TV through my YouTube account as I have been able to do at other hotels, but it was a small disappointment compared to the pros. My largest concern is how quickly the right-hand elevator door closes without warning; it bashed me a good one as I was walking in , and while I can take it.and brush that off, had that been a small child they could have been seriously hurt. Please get that checked out. In summary, I will recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a clean, quiet, recently priced place to stay while visiting Kanata 😁

AAlicia York-BirdHad a little wobble at the beginning, when the room I was given had a giant crack across the window; however the issue was resolved quickly and professionally. The replacement room was excellent and while the tv remote was non functional, I was able to have it swapped out quickly and with no fuss for a working remote. The restaurant was fine, and while a little pricey, was tasty. Cleanliness of all common areas and the room itself was top-notch. Next to the Ottawa airport, so super-convenient for travelers, and I never heard a thing from outside so the sound dampening is excellent. I would definitely stay here again.

GGuest UserWe chose this hotel because we were going to a concert and it was so close we could actually walk to and from the venue!! It is also still close enough to take a short Uber ride to local malls and restaurants, not to mention an Outlet mall only a very short walk away. The hotel itself is very busy, but clean and the staff were very friendly. The complimentary breakfast was mostly good, we'd give it an 8 out of 10. Our overall experience was great and we will stay here again.

GGuest UserThe hotel is well situated in Bells Corners, with numerous amenities within walking distance. Due to Covid, proof of vaccination was required and a room key was required to enter the building. I had trouble finding an ice machine that worked. Room was fine. Free parking and breakfast...but the breakfast was pretty awful. Would return if the price is right, otherwise we'll stay at the Hyatt.

GGuest UserThe Fairfield Inn was as good as you could expect for a lower-priced hotel near hockey venues. We stayed for several nights for a kid's hockey tournament. The good: Staff. While fairly short staffed (it seems that the night we checked in, there was literally one staff member who checked in, got cots, made any room changes, etc.) the staff was super pleasant and helpful. The manager even gave our group of players and parents complimentary access to a boardroom so we could have meals together and get out of our rooms a bit. So a BIG thank you to that wonderful person. Location. Easy access to ice rinks, the Senators arena, and lots of shopping and restaurant options. Not close to downtown in any way, however, so if you're there to ”see” Ottawa, this isn't the place for you. The good-enough: The rooms are fine. Large enough for our hockey family of four, but no door separating the bedroom from the rest of the room. Handy to have a fridge and microwave. Beds are comfortable enough and the rooms are generally soundproof enough. For this kind of trip, the hotel was adequate. Breakfast was fine. Lots of carbs, and it seemed like the staff were trying to throttle how much people ate by putting out refills in very small ”waves” (like, refilling the muffin basket with... 4 muffins). I would suggest making your way there early and with lots of time before departure if you know there are lots of families in the hotel, because the good stuff goes fast and isn't replenished quickly. The bad: Don't, for any reason, attempt to use a cot as an additional bed for your trip. It was basically a set of springs wrapped in a sheet (zero actual mattress padding) - no one in our group would even think about sleeping on it. We slept on the couch cushions instead (ick) and still were charged the $15 extra bed fee. The extra bedding wasn't in very good shape, also (major ick). Bring an air mattress and your own sheets if you need a bed outside of the pullout and other bed.

GGuest UserStayed at this hotel recently during March break. Check-in was very quick, as I did the online check-in beforehand. I got the room I wanted, away from the elevators. The hotel lobby and common areas were very clean, as was our room. The room was quite spacious, we opted for 2 Queen Standard. The complimentary breakfast had lots of warm and cold options. The ladies running the show were super nice and very helpful. As soon as an item ran out, they replaced it immediately. The desk Manager was also nice. My only complaint was the noise inside the room. We would get an intermittent noise that sounded like fireworks being launched. It was a bit disruptive. Also, I think the heating system was quite noisy too (or it was another non-traceable noise). The indoor pool is very tiny and there is no hot tub (which would have been nice). Overall, nicely appointed hotel and well-situated

Just minutes from downtown museums or office. Only 15 minutes to the Defennbunker Bunker Museum. So many things to do that are close. Of course the Thanksgiving Dinner at my sisters was the best attraction. Thanks for a great sleep. Will see you again.

Our room was exactly what we needed for a 1 night stay, comfy bed, fridge, TV. , water was nice and hot, fan in the bathroom didn't work and the AC took awhile to get the room at a nice temperature. CCoqerssuisjyI have visited this property several years ago and it was really run down. But now there is no change. The rooms need to be painted as there is paint peeling off the wall! The check-in staff were really rude and didn’t recognize I was a choice member. One thing I might add I don’t know if all rooms have been renovated and look the same as it’s a problem with some Econolodge hotels that every room looks different. Room: I had a 2 queen bedroom on the 1st floor exterior corridor. The bed sheets were yellow and the room didn’t look modern at all there was mould in the bathroom and the floors didn’t look clean. The coffee maker was dirty and the coffee didn’t taste good at all. I didn’t enjoy the beds as they were uncomfortable the heater was so loud and smelt weird. There was no fridge or microwave in the room even though the guy on the phone said there is in all rooms. Breakfast: I do want to say that the breakfast was a bit week and didn’t have much variety though. I think the rooms should get newer coffee makers and better coffee and the amenities in the bathroom were a bit cheap. Overall my stay was very miserable and was not up to my expectations of any hotel budget or not. I would stay away as this isn’t even my a good deal! Unless changes are made I will not be staying here!
