We would strongly recommend the Taktsangri-la as the best accommodation in Bhutan for a number of reasons: First, the authentic architecture of the buildings is stunning, the grounds were beautiful including the rainbow trout ponds. The Taktsangri-la was great for photos. Second, the owner (Mr. Sonam and his wife Missie) were wonderful, genuine hosts and all staff function as a well oiled team. Third, the location is best for tourists who want to climb up to see the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. During our stay we had the opportunity to enjoy delicious local food, sleep on a very comfortable bed in a large room overlooking the mountains and Tiger’s Nest, The owner, Mr. Sonam encouraged us to hike up to the Tiger’s Nest with him leading and explaining the history of the area along the way. Missie, the owner’s wife explained her vision for the complete resort and spa (to be completed in Spring 2025) which sounded wonderful, from private hot stone baths to yoga, and massage facilities. The main restaurant will provide local and international food as well a dedicated Korean hot pot restaurant will also be available. Overall we had a fantastic experience and felt very welcomed into the Taktsangri-la and look forward to staying again when we return to Bhutan. Alexander & Sandra (Canada)
