Great place to stay just off the M6. Food and service was excellent. No extra charge for breakfast which is freshly prepared. The staff are all friendly and our room spacious with everything you need. Meal in the evening was very good, with varied menu. Highly recommend.

Chalet was nice enough with basic facilities no food after 7pm so we had to get food before arriving then left out in the cold for over 45 minutes on the morning to shut premisses and no breakfast which was included in the prices so not great hospitality none existent food

We stopped here for the night as a half way point of our journey up to Scotland. We found the staff warm and welcoming, as was the pub with a lovely open fire. We opted for the pizzas for an early dinner and they were delicious, huge with a nice thin crust. We stayed in one of the garden chalets and it was perfect for us and our little dog. Warm and comfortable with our own parking space right outside. I’ve seen people moan about the motorway noise but not sure what you expect if you pick somewhere within close proximity to the M6 but it didn’t bother us too much. Lots of choice for breakfast which was very tasty. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here overnight on journey south. We had one of the chalet rooms at the back of the pub. The room was spacious with a big shower room. There was a small area of decking outside but there was no chairs to sit on to enjoy the nice evening and a bottle of wine we had with us , I suppose they want you to buy drinks from their bar. They provided shower gel, shampoo and conditioner but there was no hand soap for the sink. We thought it might be noisy being a Saturday but apart from children playing in the garden it was quiet. Being close to th M6 we could hear some traffic noise. We had an early night and slept very well on the lovely comfortable bed. Breakfast was served in the pub and the cooked offering was tasty although the portions were on the small size. We were able to park right next to the room.

This is a funny place. Room wasn't the best on first sight. No hangers or hooks for clothes. Bathroom very basic. But shower was hot and room very clean. The food however was delicious! We wish we had been given one of the chalet rooms in the garden as these looked really nice. This is a great base to explore the Lakes without paying the eye-watering expensive prices in the summer.

Visited here on a warm Sunday evening on our detoured Coast to Coast walk. It was an absolute god-send after walking through no-man’s-land for hours. The staff were attentive. The beer selection was excellent and the Sunday lunch was very very tasty. Everything has seasoned to perfection and it nourished my mind body and soul. Giving my broken self the motivation to push on to complete the task in hand. The staff were more than happy to fill my bottles with water when leaving. Very friendly place with a good atmosphere. Beer garden was like paradise. Would love to visit again if in the area.

My wife and I called at Tebay services (southbound) at lunch time on 12th May 2024 but it was absolutely packed out, so we decided to leave the M6 at the next junction to see if we could find a pub instead. We found the Cross Keys and had an excellent and very tasty Sunday lunch with a drink and without the crowds! We like Tebay services but it has become too expensive and overcrowded, so this made an excellent alternative. We'll be back!!!

2nd stay in the cross keys and again just really loved it. Went for pizza again. Huge pizzas, but thin and crispy 👌 3 pigs was epic. They do have an a la carte menu, my wife had the steak frites. Really nice bit of meat and cooked perfectly. We stay in one of the chalet rooms down the back and it was everything we needed and a greats nights sleep. The place is just bursting with character and charm with it dating back to the 16th century I believe. After dinner we enjoyed a few cocktails up at the bar. 2 for £10! All the classics. It was nice chatting with the guys behind the bar and the locals. Another top visit. See you soon guys and thank you!

We stayed here to break up the long journey to the Highlands and we're really pleased with our stay. The room was clean comfortable and smelled lovely and both the breakfast and dinner at the pub were fabulous. All the staff we encountered were friendly and professional and check in and out was easy. Would stay again!
