Invicta Hotel

Very friendly staff they could not do enough for you. Breakfast was of the highest standard and whatever you wanted they provided. Location was perfect for our trip. Room clean tidy and well decorated. Room information pack and website needs updating as they say about food and the Bowline restaurant but there is no food only breakfast and the Bowline restaurant is closed. Will definitely stay again and recommend to people.

We’ve now stayed in this hotel at least three times and it never disappoints. It’s well situated close to the Hoe and walking distance from the town centre. The rooms are a good size and well kept, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is always delicious and cooked to order. It’s our go to place when we come to Plymouth.

In my opinion, the whole point of a hotel is to get some sleep, have a shower, and a hassle free overnight stay When I arrived after driving for about 6 hours, I parked my car in the car park, to be told that it was ‘Full’. I was asked to park on the street and pay £15 for parking on the street. To make matters more fustrating, the three spare car parking spots which were there when I arrived were free all night and in the morning when I left. I had to go out for food (Not an issue personally) after being told there was a restaurant at the hotel, and then had to leave my key at the hotel, which didn’t provide much comfort when all of my work IT equipment was left in the room. My room had a flashing red light, which kept me up until about 4:30am where I hit exhaustion and was able to sleep through it. On top of the red light, the walls were paper thin and I could EVERYTHING in the rooms next to me. To top it all off, my two shower temperatures were either Baltic freezing, or at its hottest, room temperature water. The breakfast was a saving grace and was genuinely really good. All in all, staff weren’t the friendliest, place needs a massive overhaul to modernise slightly, and really disappointed. Location is spot on, but would not spend more than £40 to stay here again.

This hotel combines comfort with a great location and attentive staff. Although we went out of season, we were made to feel special and nothing was too much trouble. The room was light, bright and airy, the breakfast had lots of choices. Recommended.

In October 2021 we turned left instead of ploughing on to Cornwall as everybody does. The welcome in Plymouth and the Invicta Hotel was extraordinary. The people are genuinely friendly and happy to see you. In October 2024 we returned to the Invicta. Betty, Ken and team were so welcoming friendly and funny. The Hotel is an absolute credit to Betty and Roy. Stunning three floor double town house hotel with exceptional decor and 50ft high ceilings :) Breakfast of Champions the full English, delicious and the kippers. Well. Fiona had kippers every morning and was in heaven. The rooms are huge and well appointed. You will not be disappointed. 'Smoke me a kipper I'll be home for breakfast.' Five Stars. Outstanding.
