Blue Sea Puerto Resort

This hotel was our second choice as the one we wanted was not available. This hotel is differently not 4 star more like budget. The suite we were given was very dated but clean. We did bed and breakfast - breakfast was ok - not fantastic. We arrived on a Thursday and went to the Botanical Gardens on the Friday, the next day my partners arm was covered in small bits. We thought is was from insects in the garden but we was wondering why so many in a short space of time. It is only when we come back and consulted a doctor that we have been told that they are bed bug bite. I have since seen other reviews for this hotel about the bugs. I am horrified and disgusted that a hotel can have these nasty insects and it seems to be a ongoing problem. It has been very upsetting. We will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

We booked the Bluesea Interapalace which was white wash and lovely rooms. We got therw then made to stay in the sister hotel across the road. The facilties were good you could access all 3 hoes but the rooms were shockingly dirty and extremely dated and mouldy the carpet was like cardboard and no AC.

Pros: - Staff - especially the restaurant staff, they are all very hard working and friendly. - Public areas kept nice and clean - Two decent sized pools - Food - generally good, very samey and like warm, breakfast was the best meal for us, although on our second to last evening I had some meat off the grill in the restaurant and woke up 8 hours later with sickness and diarrhoea which I had for near on 12 hours, so with the air con barely blowing any cool air out and the back door letting warm air in it was an awful experience to say the least. - Wi-Fi - good in all areas including rooms and it is free. Cons: - We were one of the lucky ones who did not experience any bed bugs, both room were thoroughly checked! - we moved rooms the morning after we arrived as our air con didn’t work at all, there was white powder all over the carpet- we assumed to ward off insects but guy at reception couldn’t honestly tell us what it was, I am 6 months pregnant so didn’t want to risk breathing in anything harmful. We also wanted to move as our lovely neighbour stayed on his balcony most of the night drunk screaming and singing as loud as he could - this was room 121 which directly faces a row of bars/karaoke bars..be warned. - the carpet in the rooms is awful and adds to the heat, it’s not cleaned during your stay and even on arrival doesn’t look like it’s ever seen a hoover. - the housekeepers start between 7-7.30am and are quite noisy in the corridors, banging doors and talking with each other, if you put the sign on your door for a service please be warned - they knock once and let themselves in! We had 2 services done in the week we stayed, first one only made the beds, didn’t dust or hoover or empty the bin, second service again just made the beds, we had put the towels in the bath as stated if you wanted fresh and she refolded our wet towels back on the shelves. - towels gate!! What is it with us British people who reserve towels and then don’t return practically all day to make use of them, during our stay there was two families together who repeatedly did this every day, there was about 15 of them altogether, ironically there is several signs around the pool areas saying this isn’t allowed and hotel staff will remove your towels. - the hotel was built in the 70’s we believe and it’s stayed there ever since, heavy old fashioned doors which you literally have to slam shut, same with the wardrobes, the new owners have only focused any kind of upgrade in the public areas, maybe rooms are on the list to be done?

Arrived at the hotel and was immediately told go next door to the other reception, what we eventually found out was there are three hotels and it’s pot luck which one you stay in. Got to the room and very outdated but this was not an issue. Things got worse…. We moved rooms three times as the rooms were full of insecticide as there was an issue with bedbugs, looking more at our room it was infested. Second room exactly the same. Third room no bed bugs but insecticide everywhere. Continually during the holiday we saw maintenance people throwing insecticide around which concerned us for our health. If we had been in a position to change hotels we would have. Staff - poor attitude verging on rude, we gave up trying to improve our stay there. Food - this was very good and no issues other than food type and allergy information was mixed up. Entertainment - there was not list of what was on so you had to just try between the bars and it was pot luck if anything was on. Location- fine and only a short walk to the town. Overall until they can sort this bedbug issue out I would not recommend the hotel and can only score it 1. Blue sea you also need to talk to your staff and find out if they actually want to be in the hospitality industry.

We reported a bedbug problem in our room, so the hotel staff offered us a new room which also had bedbugs. We were forced to ask for a new room again for the third time during our trip. Our whole bodies were covered in bedbugs and we had an allergic reaction.There was no significant compensation related to this
