Beautiful location and for the most part the service was great. First the pluses ....beach is super and the staff down by the beach was friendly and welcoming and they do a great job of creating safety (lots of lifeguard drills it appeared!) and overall the sense of a lovely vacation feel. There are golf carts to take you everywhere on the property, which is pretty necessary as the property is steep and quite spread out. You just give a call and someone shows up in minutes. Many of the drivers have a great personality, just made it surprising when a few of them seemed not friendly--and for us there was no need to speak English--I was always happy to try my Spanish! Ditto for the staff in the main restaurant--some were friendly and welcoming and a few others were all business and not very welcoming or patient. On with the plus items...the beds are very comfortable, rooms are private and quiet, and the policy of free mini bar snacks (with free restocking) is wonderful! The monkeys and iguanas --and sloths--on the property are terrific. There is a dinner in the beach restaurant on Wednesdays, Sats and Suns and since we were only there for the Wed dinner, I wish that the staff at breakfast had reminded us of it and also, there could be a small guide in the room that would include the beach dinner evening schedule as well as a map of the nature trail --with distances. We wanted to walk it ourselves, without their guide, but didn't have a good sense of the overall length of the trail. There was a little sense that they wanted to encourage us to sign up for their guided (for a fee) walk. The food in the main restaurant was good, but not exceptional and the dinners are quite expensive. The breakfast has many choices and again, it's good but not exceptional--but nice that it's included in the room price. Overall, however, it's a lovely place, clearly the nicest place to stay in Manuel Antonio, but also quite pricey, which you know if you're reading this! Trip.com had the best price by far, at least for November.

Stunning beach, excellent food and drink, great staff. The property is mostly accessible by golf cart once you check in— I had planned to walk to Manuel Antonio some during the trip but that’s a bit of a project. Everything you need is right there though!

It’s an absolutely gorgeous hotel, and a gorgeous location, but be prepared to walk. There are no elevators tons of stairs lots and lots of uphill and downhill. They have golf carts that take you anywhere, but they can’t take you up the stairs to your room.

My wife and I had a beachfront suite for 4 nights. The suite was immaculate and we were given a bottle of wine in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. The staff was incredible. The property is fairly hilly but the hotel has golf carts to transport patrons to the different areas of the property. Being there in the off season was great as we felt like we had the whole property to ourselves! The driveway to the facility and some of the roads leading up to the hotel reception area are in dire need of a make over but that did not affect our stay. The staff was incredible. I know I'll forget some names but Alexis, Carolina, Yonathan, Christian, and Amanda were all exceptional. They all knew us on a first name basis. The private beach was amazing. We loved being immersed in the jungle, looking for sloths and monkeys. The monkeys came to visit often but we did not see this as a problem. They will try to enter the restaurant to steal food so beware! We were not bothered by insects while we were there. We were told to bring bug spray but it really wasn't necessary for us. I'm not sure if the bugs are worse during other times of the year. We will definitely be back!

This hotel far exceeded my expectations, and my expectations were already high. The views from the room were outstanding and the service and hospitality was top-notch. The food was incredible as was the beach. I would highly recommend staying here and would happily come back again in the future.

For our 35th anniversary we were looking for a special combo of comfort and activity. Costa Rica is hot and Arenas Del Mar was the perfect location. Our room overlooked the Pacific Ocean and had its own private hot tub. There are 2 pools and a private beach all with food & drink service. The food was outstanding, as was the friendly staff who knew our names. The concierge booked all of our activities which included horseback riding, zip lining, sailing and a private eco tour of neighboring Manuel Antonio National Park. Great spot. Great anniversary. Highly recommend.

A beautiful designed resort nestled in a Rain Forest on Bahia Manuel Antonio. The rooms are spacious with beautiful beach terraces on the cliff above two separate coves. But what makes this resort, Is the Staff: Friendly and professional. The attendants made you feel special: recognizing us and knowing our names. The location of the resort allowed you to explore the area easily (including fishing sport, Zip lining, whitewater rafting, access to the national parks). The resort is nestled in a rain forest, so monkeys, sloughs, and Macaw are sighted on the property. The property uses sustainability practices to maintain the forest land. For all the above reasons, Arenas Del Mar was a Magical place place to holiday. We will return!!!!
