Disappointing Experience - Would Not Recommend I had a frustrating experience at the Premier Inn in Rhyl, Wales, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. After driving four hours to get there, I arrived at 2:15 p.m. and was told I couldn’t check in as check-in wasn’t until 3:00 p.m. I find it hard to believe there wasn’t a single room ready at that time of day. While they offered to store my bag, I declined, as I needed to freshen up and use the toilet. The receptionist directed me to a nearby toilet, but her response felt dismissive and unhelpful given my situation. The parking situation was another headache. The hotel is on the beachfront with no parking at the front, and there’s no signage from the main road to help direct guests. The parking is around the back, with only four spaces directly next to the hotel—three (possibly four) of which are designated for disabled drivers and one standard space. For everyone else, parking is located further down the road, which means walking back with your bags—a real inconvenience. When I asked at reception if there was an iron in the room, I was told there was, but there wasn’t one when I got to my room. This left me unable to prepare my clothing properly, which was very frustrating. Reception staff were not readily available either; you had to press a buzzer and hope someone turned up within five minutes. This lack of accessibility left me feeling neglected as a guest. To make matters worse, the restaurant wasn’t open during the day. After a long drive, I was looking forward to grabbing something to eat, but I was informed the restaurant only opens at 6:00 p.m., apparently now catering exclusively to hotel residents. This change is impractical and poorly thought out. The final straw for me was the overall lack of warmth or helpfulness from the staff. While they were “okay,” they didn’t go out of their way to make me feel welcome or valued as a guest—something I find incredibly important as a customer service manager myself. In the end, I decided to leave the hotel that evening and drive home instead of staying the night. The combination of poor service, inconvenient facilities, and an unwelcoming atmosphere made it impossible for me to enjoy my stay. I would not recommend this Premier Inn to anyone looking for a stress-free, comfortable experience.
