Hotels near Parque Garota de Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro

This a very nice friendly hotel. I stayed there for 9 nights in early March 2020. This hotel is actually a hidden gem about 4-5 blocks from the beach. The location is great because it is right between Copacabana and Ipanema beach. It is in a low-key area in Ipanema and all of a sudden you walk in and surprise! Very nice, clean and fashionable. The price is not too high like your high end hotels and not too low, a nice moderate hotel. What I love about my room was the large walk in shower! The whole bathroom was very nice and clean with a large wide mirror. I had a King suite so my room was very nice and spacious. The morning breakfast buffet was the best i have ever had! Excellent. The staff was very friendly, helpful and speak English too. Someone is always at the front desk to assist. If you like a moderate size hotel and wish to save some money then this is a great place! I will definitely stay here again!

I really liked the hotel, excellent location, very close to the beach, metro practically at the door of the hotel. Excellent service and good accommodation.

We would stay again if less money but we actually paid about £100 per night which was presumably because hotel is so near beach, the actual hotel certainly was not worth £100+ for this reason I am giving it a 3 rating, if it had been around £50 it would have got a 4.

The hotel is well located, but far from the restaurant. Cleanliness needs to be improved. Affected by the epidemic, the room was cleaned the next day, but only two towels were changed in eight days. On the penultimate day, I arrived at the room at 17:00. Although I left the sticker on the door for this reason, the room was still not cleaned. Only after a formal complaint was lodged at the reception, the cleaning lady came to clean. When you reach the corridor of the room, there is a strong musty smell in the room, but it is not in the room I lived in. Very nice reception and helpful waiters. Worth cost-effective.

beach. Hotel looks good on first impression but on closer looking lobby is tired, sofas need cleaning. Rooms very very basic, covers so dated, doors shabby. There is strange sort of small lounge as you come in which doesn't serve any purpose. Curtains didn't meet, only two sockets worked. Air conditioning button seemed to have loose wires and you had to jiggle the switch about to get it working. The tv was a big old grey version (didn't think they were still used) only CNN channel. Breakfast not really good couldn't get a normal cup of tea. Not everyone likes flavoured. Asked for natural tea told didn't have any. Staff not very friendly asked if they could print boarding passes and told no system was done but clearly they were using it at the desk, concierge gentlemen were very nice. Let me tell you about my stay, I went to Rio de Janeiro Brazil for 6 weeks from Sept to Oct 2020 for medical tourism.  During my trip and when I was not in the hospital having surgery I stayed at Hotel Vilamar and I'm so thankful I did.  There are so many things I could list, but I'll just list a few.  After my first surgery and I checked in, I was greeted by the Hotel manager Cecilia.  She was very kind, caring and assisted me in so many ways. She sent me to a wonderful salon to get my hair fixed after 6 days in the hospital.  If my friend (from The UK and I from The US) and I did not show up for breakfast because my face was all black & blue, or issues walking (I had 2 surgeries while there) she or her staff would call our room to see if we needed food sent up to our room. (I do not know if that's standard but to my friend and I, we felt special.)  If we ever called down to the front desk, or stopped at the desk and asked for something, the staff at Hotel Vilamar was on it, and took care of our needs.  In the morning when we would go for breakfast, the girls there would always greet us by our names and ask how we were and always asked if we needed anything. The gentlemen behind the desk were always pleasant and referred us to some great places to see that we did not know about.  One day I had to go to the pharmacy that was right next to the hotel but all the staff only spoke Portugese, Cecilia went with me to the pharmacy and helped me get everything I needed.  One day, post facial surgery I could only eat soft food and my eyes were all swollen, one of the staff members walked across the street to a gelato store and helped me get something to gelato.  The housekeeping staff was always kind and worked around me while I was recovering.   The hotel was always clean and shiny and the staff very attentive to our needs, but they were kind and treated us like family.  There is so much I could add about Cecilia and her staff, but I just want to say;  ”They not only meet our needs but they exceeded in meeting our expectation of the treatment someone staying at a hotel should receive. I have a friend who will be going to Rio very soon, I have already told them about Hotel Vilamar and she will be reaching out to them soon and I plan on returning during 2021 for another 4 to 6 weeks and I would stay at no other hotel.  I truly give them 10 stars!

We stayed here for a 5-day visit to Rio over New Year. The location is great for access to Copacabana and Ipanema, and the roof-top pool is a big bonus, although more sunbeds would be beneficial. Our room was windowless, but was big enough for 2 and the wifi and air con worked well. The bed could do with being replaced but no major issues. Overall a good pick of hotel for exploring Rio.

Many pluses staying here. Great location - around are restaurants, fast food (McDonald's, BK, Domino's, etc), shops, Super marts, Money changer and the Copacabana beach is a short walk away (5mins). Breakfast is really good with a wide selection. Staff were responsive, helpful and polite. Check in was easy and quick. The room I had did not have a view but no biggie. Mini fridge, TV, safe. Room is small but manageable. Hotel entrance is just at the main road, easy for Uber/taxi pick up and loading of luggage. Security is good - there's always someone present at the main door. Will definitely stay again if I return to Rio.

You get a good amount for the price you pay with this hotel. The situation is great- between the beaches of Copacabana and Ipamena. A small supermarket and pharmacy nearby with The Hippie Market on a Sunday just a few blocks away in General Osorio square. Around this square there are numerous restaurants to eat. The bedrooms and bathrooms are basic but there is a fridge. We didn’t find the bar! As you walk in, the two male receptionists are on the left. They were helpful to us in arranging a taxi. The breakfast had 4 hot items - the best we found during our holiday, plus the usual range of fresh mixed fruit, ham, cheese, salami and cakes. The pool on the roof was a good way to cool down in the qfternoon but I did think that the water could have been cleaner. The overall impression of the hotel was that it needed a bit of money sending on it, eg. to repaint areas and to replace a broken glass topped table on the roof.

This is one of the best IBIS hotels I have stayed in. It’s in a great position - just 100m from the Copacabana seafront and less from the nearest metro station. Beds are super comfy and showers fab. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room on the side of the hotel. The view is nothing but its super quiet as it’s away from the road. There is a safe in each room. Staff are smiley and helpful. Breakfast is super yummy with lots of fresh fruit, yoghurt and the usual items. If you like English tea, however, bring your own tea bags as “tea” as we know it doesn’t seem to exist in Brazil. On the corner of the block, there is a 24hr cafe that serves great coffee. The area seems safe at night. The hotel also offers bike hire.
