Lisa is so nice, there is free breakfast, but unfortunately we didn’t have time to have it, she still prepared for us the day before. it is nice to meet her.

There was a thief. I bought the Chanel and put it in a box the day before I left. When I returned home the next day, I found it was gone. Someone in the hotel must have entered the room and stolen it.

As far as the hotel is concerned, it is a very good one. The location is within 10 minutes from the Rome train station. There are large supermarkets, Korean supermarkets and restaurants, Chinese restaurants and Vietnamese Pho nearby. When you feel tired of Italian food, you can change your taste! It takes about half an hour to walk to other attractions in Rome (except the Vatican). The hotel staff is polite. Lisa carefully explained the hotel facilities and how to open the door and the hotel door. The air-conditioning in the room is cold enough and comfortable, but the water pressure difference is small. You must bring your own slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste. The most surprising hotel provides free breakfast with bread , cheese, scrambled eggs, ham, orange juice, milk, cheese, and oatmeal are good enough. The most heartwarming thing is that if you go out early, you can WhatsApp the hotel staff, and they will put the breakfast in your room one night earlier, which is convenient for those who travel early, which is commendable! Overall, I am very satisfied with this stay. Thanks to Stefania for helping me prepare breakfast!

Staff is excellent. Very Kind and upon check in made sure we knew how to use the amenities and entrance. They immediately gave us recommendations for food and detailed instructions on how to get to the local laundry mat. Breakfast was delicious. Good variety of items. Just remember it's not a buffet. They offer fresh coffee the moment you go to sit down. Elevator is for 2 people with no luggage. So stairs were used here and there. The room has a small balcony with automatic shutters. Wall AC unit worked like a charm! Has a closet, desk with chair. Plenty of outlets but make sure you have the proper plugs for American tourists. 12 min Walk to the colosseum. Lots of restaurants within immediate walking distance. Same with markets and shops. I highly recommend staying here. The only thing I would say is to ask for a room away from the entrance because the door is automatic but slams shut. At night, it gets annoying and cannot be ignored. But again, other than that it was absolutely wonderful. Definitely would stay here again.

I discourage others from staying here. I arrived for a 3 night stay, and I quickly realized there were serious safety issues. None of the rooms/hallways had smoke detectors or emergency lighting. There is also an automated door to access the “hotel area” on the third floor that requires a room key card to get into the hotel space from the hall. Guests must use their key card from the inside to get out to the stairwell. I asked the staff how I would get out in an emergency if there was a power outage. They said that they “thought” the door could be pried open but they weren’t sure. My concern was that if there was a fire during the night, and if a person was lucky enough to wake up during the fire (no smoke alarms to alert you), they’d need to navigate in the dark to the exit door (no emergency exit lights). Then once they found the door to the hallway in the dark, they would have to figure out how to pry it open just to get out of the hotel area to the stairwell. Then it would be 3 floors down in the dark hallway to the exit door that opens INWARD. The staff was very nice/friendly but when I asked about the fire safety/emergency exit issue, She said I was the first to ever voice concerns about safety. The manager spoke with me over the phone to tell me that they are not required by law to have smoke detectors or any safety measures.. I left and found a hotel nearby with safety equipment. I lost the cost of the 3 nights stay because they would not refund me

Perfect for families with connecting rooms. Very clean and the breakfast was delicious! The location is near the railway station which makes airport transportation easy and great if you want to make excursions. Walking distance to all the famous sights.

This lovely guesthouse is nicely situated for exploring Rome, with short walks to most of the big sights. It’s situated on the third floor of an old apartment building, which gives the guesthouse a unique and intimate feeling, taking only a handful of guests at a time. The breakfast area reflected this in particular, and the attentive lady (who spoke about as much English as we spoke Italian - very little!) who ran the area was very welcoming. My partner and I were made to feel very welcome when we arrived and throughout our stay. The room was airy and very comfortable, with a fridge and a small balcony. Breakfast was typically continental but served with a lovely Italian coffee. It was certainly a good start to a days exploration.

Excellent property in all ways: polite and so supportive staff, especially Stefania who was our hostess during the staying at Rome; excellent location, 10 minutes walking to Coloseum. Nice and very clean room, everything is new and in great conditions. Calm and beautiful place for everyone. We kindly recommend Merulana In Guest House Rome. Bojana and Dusan Nikolic, Belgrade Serbia

We stayed for 4 nights and it was amazing value for money. The location is perfect, a short walk to the Colosseum, 5 mins to the major train station, and lots of restaurants and cafes near by. Also the Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore is literally on the corner. We stayed in a really quiet room, which meant we got a great rest. I heard Rome hotels can be really loud. We enjoyed the breakfast every morning, the coffee was excellent too. The room was made up every day, and it was all so clean and tidy. The staff were lovely and helpful. We can highly recommend this guesthouse. Sarah & Derek

The room was nice and clean. They even provided breakfast, which was nice. It was a good location for seeing historic Rome and close to the Termini train station. We had a room facing a busy street, so needed earplugs at night. I would stay there again if I was in Rome. I prefer the quaint guesthouse experience instead of the big hotel experience. The staff was friendly and helpful!
