Absolutely shocking hotel. Not worth the money at all. Stay clear of it. No double glazing and heard every noise going from outside. Toilet leaking. Carpets a mess. Dampness on the wall. Waist of £80. Complained got no where. Tried calling and message emergancy number. Nothing back.

Fantastic meals. We went two nights and were so well received. The food was amazing. All home cooked and very well cooked. Compliments to the chef. Staff were very welcoming and great to chat to. Would definitely recommend and we will be back.

Lovely find went 2 nights running on Saturday night they fitted us as they were extremely busy. Had sweet and sour chicken it was lovely and very good value. On both nights Only draw back is there is quite a few stairs and we could not see a lift. Staff were lovely.

Angela was wonderful. The man?? not so much. Complained about my having a double booking and canceling twice. I don't know what he was referring to.

An old school experience with world class food . Always an enchanted experience with friendly service and a chef (Craig) that’s been there for 100s of years . We always eat there when on the island and last week had the scallops to start , the steam pie and the sticky toffee pudding . Having eaten in some of the world’s posher 1 m-star establishments , I, for sure , prefer the food at the Esplanade . The table looking down to the ferry port is always my fave and it’s where we were seated last Friday .

The description for this hotel is very misleading. it says: The front desk is open daily from 8am - 7:30pm. Front desk will greet guests on arrival. I arrived at about 3pm to find the hotel locked up. On phoning the hotel, I was told to go to a different hotel. Someone took me back to the Esplanade and checked me in. I also had to go to the other hotel for breakfast and to check out. This was just inconvenient for me, but for someone with mobility issues would have been completely unacceptable and the hotel should not misrepresent the position in the listing. Other issues relating to the listing: No bottled water in the room Very limited toiletries in the room (soap only) As well as the issues with the listing I had the following issues: The bathroom light wasn’t working Only one time was offered for breakfast The room was very, very noisy. On the noise issue, I expected some noise as the hotel is located on the front. My room was at the back of the hotel overlooking the castle. It overlooked a small square which was extremely noisy until around 10pm. In addition, a drunk fellow guest kept me up from 1:30am despite my earplugs. The staff at this hotel were lovely, but I definitely don’t recommend it.

After a family member recommended here for dinner we went with out 2 children, staff were lovely, it was very busy so did wait a while for food to arrive which was expected due to it being so busy but was so dissapointed hubby got the steak pie which was tasteless and the puff pastry had been cooked probably earlier that day and just heated up (he is a head chef so knows when things are "shoved in the box" to reheat) my daughter got cajun pasta far far too spicy, no peppers or onion in it either. My son wanted a roast dinner and this was the most expensive out of everything and if he wasn't so hungry I would have complained there and then the portion was ridiculous (and no it wasnt a childs portion she told us it was just adult portions which I would have ordered anyways as he was hungry with us traveling all day) a few bits of veg and about 4 green beans and 2 YES TWO baby potatoes with a couple of slithers of meat drowned in gravy no mash or roast potatoes just 2 undercooked, hard baby potatoes no yorkshire puddings, I got the fish and chips was expecting the batter to be lovely and bubbly crispy but it was flat as a pancake had to give my son half my chips as what he got was shocking for being the most expensive plate at the table, chips were the only thing that was good but not enough of them don't know if it's because they were too busy but definitely not worth the money and wouldn't recommend to anyone we know unfortunately

We visited this restaurant after returning from a boat trip. We were very surprised when we entered the restaurant as from the outside it looks very tired and dated. But a warm welcome was awaiting us. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Had the steak pie which was very nice, good sized portions. Did not have the wine we wanted, but sent out to get us some which was very good. Worth a visit.
