Medicine for the soul...despite relentless rain! Was attending the Land's End Trial historic motor event...which turns out I could walk to in 15 mins up the cliffs/S.West Coast Path right beside Driftwood. Travelling solo can be scary at meal times etc.!! But I need not have worried as Liam sat me next to another solo my 1st dinner...turns out we had loads in common! Other nights folk very friendly so didn't matter & many with dogs so I was v.happy! I think I had the BEST Fish & Chips ever (Hake)...amazing! Homemade special burger also fabby. Sunday roast was a little tough...but I was late so NOT complaining. Asked others about their food...all saying really very good. Highly recommend. Cooke brekkie really delicious...super friendly staff too & views to the sea were awesome...with friendly Robin on balcony outside hoping for scraps in the intermittent downpours :). Wonderful sea view room - compact & with MEGA comfy bed, super bathroom...waking to the waves, early birds (some unusual/a treat to hear), general calm floating in through the window, 'mountains' on either side & watching dawn surfers was perfect for early mindfulness! And an AWESOME little jar of handmade 'melt in mouth' Brownies. Found broadband a bit edgy (or was it my phone?!) BUT, A) it is located between 2 giant cliffs so surprising can get any B/band at all(!), and B) it IS good to detox from gadgets...so I was grateful really :) All the staff were super friendly, helpful, charming. I needed an 'escape, detox' with lots of walking, cheery folk, nature, wilderness, good food....Driftwood Spars was 100% my tonic...'what the doctor ordered'!! Perhaps anywhere around passionate Surfers has a 'certain healing vibe'....??? It was wonderful & they were v.friendly at the beach/cliff bar/cafe despite me in full wet walking gear & being zillions of years older than them :) Folk laid back, friendly, loads of dogs which was magical, peace &/or lots going on...take your pick. And plenty of other places to eat/drink at if needed on meanderings, and of course St Agnes at top of hill is delightful for meandering around. Wonderful. Thanks very much Team Driftwood.
