PortAventura Hotel El Paso - Includes PortAventura Park Tickets

Salou|0.51km from PortAventura Park
Where do I start….We visited El Paso around 9 years ago prior to having children with my family and we all had an excellent holiday! So I didn’t have any apprehensions about booking early this year to take my 2 children (3 & 1) . As it got closer to the time I saw some reviews and started to panic as we hadn’t had a bad word to say about the hotel but wondered had it gone down hill?? Needless to say we went with an open mind and there was no need for any worry at all!! One of the only reasons I haven’t given 5 stars was the check in. We arrived at 11am and check in took my husband around an hour (I think this was more other people maybe faffing around a bit as when he actually got to the counter he was there 5 minutes and it was done) but it took us 3 separate occasions of going up to ask if the room was ready at 3pm before we could actually get in. There are lockers you can put you’re luggage in for €10 but there was no way ours would of fit in 1 so we didn’t fancy spending €20 !! So we hung around the reception for 4 hours (a beautiful reception) but with 2 children we found we were having to juggle one person staying with the luggage and the other entertaining the children. Check in aside the rest of the holiday was all we could of asked for! Room : We had requested a quiet room and we had been put the other side of the pool away from all the bars which was perfect…the room was beautiful. Bunk beds for our 3year old which he loved (although the top bunk is not safe for a younger child as the side very easily comes off!) but this didn’t effect us as we had a cot for our 1 year old. The room has everything you would need for a holiday..storage, bathroom, comfy bed and a balcony. The only downside was there were a few schools visiting when we were there and they had placed them in the same block as us so it definatley wasn’t a quiet room ! You could hear the teachers trying to keep them quiet at 11pm at night but it’s not great when you have young children trying to sleep…maybe the hotel should have a separate block if they know they are going to have a lot of school children in??? Pool : the pool is a absolutley huge and very clean. The water is a perfect crystal blue! The pirate shop was a firm favourite for our little boy. Although they are a little strict with allowing sunglasses in the pool (you need them as it’s so bright haha!) the lifeguards make you feel very safe. There is a vast area of sand around the pool which is perfect for the children to play in….(actually made ours happy enough that he thought he’d been to the beach so we didn’t have to venture to Salou!) Food : I saw a lot of reviews with people complaining about the food. We didn’t have a problem at all. Yes it can be samey, but considering they have such a large demographic to cater for I think they do very well with what they do have! You can always find something to eat. It’s typical all inclusive food. When you check in they give you a QR CODE to select a time fo

I'm usually quite fussy with cleanliness and although there were places for improvement the rooms was very pleasant and perfect for myself and 10 year old daughter. We were so pleased to have a double bed each. I desperately want to know which mattresses they use, I suffer with back problems but while at the hotel these were minimal, they were a lovely firm foam, surprisingly comfortable, I wish I'd taken a picture or looked at the brand! The plug on the bathroom sink was broken so the drain smell was a bit awful, I kept a soap filled sponge over it or it smelled eggy. There were hand soap, shower gel and shampoo provided, the hairdryer though small, worked well and the air conditioning was amazing, it cooled the room so well. The noise is a bit of an issue as mentioned in other reviews, the chairs and furniture dragging on the floors especially and even with the balcony door closed, it sounded like a window was slightly open. We both got a very good night's sleep though despite the noise because the entertainment finished by 11pm things settled around 12am. We stayed on the 5th floor over looking the pool. Food was awful for us on the first night, however breakfast there is something for everyone, and the following evening meals I myself found delicious. My daughter consumed a lot of chips bit she's a very fussy eater. She enjoyed the pasta most evenings and the desserts - especially the rice pudding, that is a stunning dish! The stew like dishes I throughly enjoyed. The Spa wasn't up to much and you have to buy a swimming cap to enter which isn't made very clear until you are told at €3 each. Best tips: queue for dinner at 6:45pm, there are very long queues some nights. Get to the pool reasonably early, the beds get taken quickly if they're in the sun. Use the stairs to come down and the lifts to go up if you can. The lifts can get very busy and while they didn't break down while we were there, they do feel like a bit of a death trap! They don't stop closing if you're in the way either. Location wise, this hotel is just fab. Its a 10 minute walk to portaventura and ferrari land, a 10 - 15 minute walk to the beach and its far enough away from the main ***** to stay away from the noise. We went at the end of October so probably out of season so maybe this helped with the noise. Overall pleasant, comfortable and I would stay again.

We stayed here at the end of our holiday as the apartments we were in for most of the week closed down mid October. First impressions were good, the lobby and pool area look great. There is a board with kids activities on throughout the day. The luggage storage facilities were very handy as we arrived before our room was ready and checked out with most of the day before our flight. Pool is a good size and clean, although I can see that this would get very busy in the summer. Rooms are pretty standard, they look quite dated and if the sofa bed was out, there would be no room to get past to the balcony. Toiletries are provided. Shower temperature wasn't great, it didn't heat up well at night although it was better in the morning. There is no lock on the bathroom door which isn't great when you have teenage kids. The rules in the hotel are quite off putting. Cards in the room stating rules such as no smoking on the balcony, no leaving the tap on while you brush your teeth, no using the toilet as an ashtray etc etc. We were sat on the balcony at about half 11 when all the outside lights on the balconies went off. Must have been our bedtime. One redeeming feature was the food. There was a really good selection at dinner time, and it was all very nice. They also have a free water machine which makes a nice change, but the drinks are overpriced so free water was much needed. The waiter who led us to our table was very friendly and helpful but some of the other waiting staff looked very miserable, borderline rude. Breakfast unfortunately wasn't so nice, the selection wasn't as good and the only juice options were orange and pineapple (no apple!). They do have a ”diet” section with low fat/low cholesterol items. Overall it's not a bad hotel but I expected better from a 4 star hotel. I wouldn't return only because I think there are better value hotels and apartments in Salou.

Just back a couple of days ago from a 5 day visit to Salou, our first to this are of Spain and also first time visitors to this hotel. To give you the short version, it’s a good hotel, not a great deal to worry about and I’d encourage you to consider staying here. Ignore the negative reviews which are largely based on personal circumstances than overall issues I’d say. To give a bit more detail though, on arrival we found several human skeletons on the forecourt and in the trees, thankfully this was part of the many Halloween decorations put out by the hotel. Certainly they didn’t belong to anyone who had starved as there is no shortage of food, more on that soon. Reception staff were great, and in fact all staff such as bar & receptionist etc were very helpful. First impressions were good and the main entrance area feels like you’re in a nice hotel. They give you wristbands to wear throughout your stay, which seems to be a thing for this brand of hotel. Depending on which hotel you’re in you seem to get a different colour, however nobody really checked the wristband noticeably so not sure how much they are used. They are not easy to take on and off so make sure they fit it losely if you want to be able to remove it at night etc. The room was fine, some say dated, yes maybe a little but no worse than any Premier Inn. The only thing I found was the walls are pretty thin, but wasn’t really a problem for me. Hot water can go from lukewarm to hotter than the sun, so one to be aware of. The only stressful thing was mealtimes at peak time, it can get extremely busy and chaotic. Getting food was no problem, there was never a shortage or long queues, it’s more the amount of people moving around the hall in different directions with hot food etc not looking where they’re going. Also some of the staff push these big carts around collecting plates etc, they seem to expect you to just move out of their way, the guy drove one into the back of my leg cutting it, and just shrugged. Basically, get there at the start of the sessions for a more chilled experience..! The pool seemed good but it was pretty Baltic so didn’t stay in there very much. The slides were good fun, they are around the side of the hotel so you could miss them if you don’t know where they are. There was a lifeguard managing the slides, but sent us down saying it was clear at the bottom when it wasn’t, leading to me and a 7 year old being stuck under a big Dutch guy..! (To be fair she said that was her favourite moment of the holiday so.. ) Nightly entertainment seemed good, they have a kids mini disco with all the same tunes every hotel in Spain uses, plus a bizarre Spanish version of the 80s Black Lace classic Superman. Then later there was further entertainment with a different act ever night including magicians and singers etc. There is also a sports bar showing football etc, so you can go in there and escape the Spanish Rod Stewart tribute act if you wish. It is about a
H10 Salauris Palace

The H10 Salauris Palace, is in a great location to go to Port Adventure & Ferrari Land. You can't check in until 3 pm, so we had to leave our luggage in the lock up room. The beach is about 10 minutes away. Bars, restaurants & shopping nearby. Very good location, it has a very impressive reception area, with friendly staff, ( apart from the customer relations manager, she seemed to look down her nose at everybody ). Plenty of seating areas inside & outside. ROOMS - Great size, 2 big comfy double beds pushed together. 2 big mirrored wardrobes lots of space in them. FREE safe included. Fridge, TV only had 1 English channel. Armchair & table in the corner. Soft closing drawers & doors great idea stopped the noise. Large balcony with good size dryer we got all our washing dried. Bathroom - double walk in shower great water pressure & always hot water - no bath, toiletries included & good quality. Towels & bedding changed regularly, fantastic cleaners always did a very god job thank you ! FOOD - The restaurant was chaotic at times, lots of queues at he entrance to get in. There are a lot more 4* hotels in Salou, with better quality foods. It was luke warm most of the time. Breakfast - cooking station, the chef will do fresh omelettes, pancakes & fried eggs. Bacon, eggs, sausages, black pudding, cheese, ham, cereals, breads, pastries, fresh fruit. Coffee, juices, water. Dinner - cooking station, meat & fish. Salads, soup, cheese, ham, fresh meats. 3- 4 luke warm choices a couple of veg. Shell fish. Desserts, fruit. Good quality ice cream. Children's section that they couldn't really get to as it was to close to the adults queuing for warm food also adults eating all the children's chips & potatoes as they didn't put it with the warm food. The children's section should be on a separate area. The pizza was shocking, worst ever, the staff need training. Loud & noisy like a school canteen. Nice large pool with disabled hoist. Lots of sunbeds, you have to chase the sun round. Sunbathing area on the top of the Hotel is great, fantastic views of Reus, Ferrari Land & the surrounding area. Great for topping up your tan. Jacuzzi, shower & toilets. The area was looking a bit tied, decking needed repainting, but the best place in Salou for sunbathing. Adults only area over 16's only. Live entertainment every night, kids club, pool tables, video games, air hockey. Children's aster turf football pitch, children's play area Lots of places to sit & read, free reading books to borrow. Jet2 & TUI rep desks. Steam room & sauna. You can hire pool towels 5 euros each towel refundable on return, 1 euro for washing. Well equipped gym, indoor pool you need to wear a swimming hat. Underground parking. Room tip, wouldn't pay for a pool view - noise from the entertainment on a day & night until 12 am ( usual in Spain ). We had a room overlooking the road, facing Ferrari Land which was quiet & nice views. We would go back if we got a good price, b

You get what you pay for - ok stay We had to book a last minute apartment due to a flight cancellation due to the French Air Strike. Swimming pool was well kept, however there weren’t any sun loungers - not even one. The spa was ok - dated and small. Apartments were dated, but spacious, which big balconies. It’s a 150 euro deposit on arrival also, which I didn’t see at the time of booking, however returned straight away. It looks run down to be honest, lots of potential but being left as it is. Cheap accommodation - pictures of the rooms do look nicer, guessing taken a few years ago. It served us well for a night stay - fairly central location.
