It's an excellent guest house where Chris and Alison really treat you as a personal guest. The accommodation - rooms, showers, beds, sitting areas inside and out - are very good quality and the location is very pleasant and safe, but it's the personal attention to your dietary preferences, places to visit etc, and the welcome you receive that makes this guesthouse stand out. The breakfasts are excellent and Chris made everything from steak to mouthwatering vegan meatballs for our evening meals. We highly recommend, and the regular guests we met while staying are testimony to the quality of this establishment.

It was an excellent place to stay. The bed was warm and comfortable. All the amenities included an A/C, heater, safe, etc. Incredible South African hospitality. Great breakfast in the morning with incredible tasting Omelette made to your preference.
The property is nice, with a beautiful garden. Did I mention the great hospitality?
They are the best host of people. Cudos to the Owner, Chris, and the manager, Allison.
My stay at Highgrove made the trip to South Africa more enjoyable.

While we only stayed just one night to deal with jet-lag, our host provided us with transportation to/from the airport and prepared for us an excellent dinner. It made our first impression of South Africa a most gracious and hospitable one.

Lovely, comfortable accommodation. It was a pleasure booking and staying at Highgrove. We wanted central accommodation, for 10 family members including our children. I called to enquire about the room layout and then booked directly with them. The breakfast was delicious. Chris and the Highgrove team ensured we had all we needed. Thank you

This was my second time at this lovely guesthouse of Chris and his wonderful team! They all make you feel like you are at home. The guesthouse is located idyllically amidst much greenery, and going for a run was awesome as the area is really nice and also green. It is also located near many of the attractive sites/places in Johannesburg. The guesthouse is tastefully furbished and has a wonderful garden and a pool. Chris is an outstanding cook! You can ask him to cook dinner (and lunch), and he does so with great flexibility and according to your wishes. can only wholeheartedly recommend this great place to everyone!

Absolutely wonderful warm and welcoming! Rooms comfortable and clean. Garden and pool lovely. Chris is a wonderful chef too and so approachable on cooking and suggestions. Allison and the staff truly kind and efficient.

I was a bit lazy to commute to Sandton for the week and needed a guesthouse close to my offices in Sandton. The staff are friendly and super helpful! I mostly had breakfast which was really really good. My rooms and facilities were all very clean!

I stayed here for three days in June 2024. A couple who traveled with us suggested Highgrove Guest House. Deciding to stay here was the best decision we made. The place is homely with a beautiful garden in the back, and the hospitality of the Owner, the Manager, and the caretakers is above and beyond. Our room had a nice balcony with a great view of the garden, a very comfortable bed (heated, I will say), a clean bathroom, and a safe to keep our valuables. The room was pretty large and modern. I am still thinking about the breakfast we enjoyed every morning. The omelet made-to-order with fresh vegetables was excellent. I hope to go back again someday.
