This hotel was specially booked. The hotel has a long history and a good location. The deluxe bed booked this time, the front desk service is very warm, and the scenery outside the window is the most attractive to us. It is beautiful. The hotel's service is a plus, the pool is also a plus, the front desk and lobby concierge service is particularly good, it is a special trip. Satisfied

Good overall location and the refurbishment since the last time I stayed is a huge eye-opener. Good to see more investments going into the area El Conde as the place was going into decline.

The rooms are super big and the facilities are very new. We are just across the road from the beach. Unfortunately, our room is relatively low and does not face the sea. However, I only stayed for one night, and I checked out at noon to 2 am, which had little effect. Breakfast is average, for Chinese, there are few choices. The hotel is integrated with the casino and the gate is separated. Overall the hotel is very good, next time I consider to choose this one, but be sure to choose a high-level sea room

The hotel belongs to the city landmark building, the facilities are modern and new, this plus points. Free underground parking, easy access, and the front desk clerk is very friendly. Remember to add 20-30 US dollars, apply for a high-rise suite, the view is super good; there are free snacks and fruit water before 7:30PM every night. Breakfast is very good. The most important thing is that the dining has Chinese food, tea, the taste is very good, this is a plus. The room is a suite, living room, horizontal, bathroom independent space and large enough. The living room has a kitchenette (microwave, hot water bottle) coffee and tea. In this Caribbean island country, you can find a hotel produced by Chinese food, which is great! If you come here for business trips, it is highly recommended!

Cleanest hotel I've stayed in Santo Domingo, best food and exceptional staff. I dropped my credit card down the lift shaft and Francesca had it back to me in 20 minutes. Ordered a burger medium and got a burger medium, something 1/2 the restraints in the US can't do. I'll stay no where else when I'm in the DR.

PpengliyaoThis review is written 7 years later. Back in Jan 2017, I made the mistake of booking for the date of arrival. We had taken a red eye flight into Punta Cana and it was 100% my mistake that we did not actually have a -no, two -room(s) booked for ”the night before.” I still remember the great kindness we were shown by the late night/early morning hotel staff as they struggled to ready a room that was not-being-used because of shower repair issues. They changed sheets, found a roll-a-cot for our then 20-something year old daughter, and waived off all of our gratitude. And they totally moved us into the proper roomS as early as they could the next morning ... leaving us free to tourist as best as we could with our red-eye depleted energies. I am currently culling travel paper clutter, and revisiting memories. This is a fond one - my mistake was greeted with great humanity.
GGuest UserHotel Dona Elvira was recommended to my family who planned an overnight trip to see the sights of Santo Domingo’s colonial zone. This hotel did not disappoint. Aesthetically, it’s gorgeously historic. Its common area is open-air, covered and cooled by a magnificent mango tree with a pool in the middle (I’m not sure if the pool is meant for swimming, though it is clean and clear). Our room was large, very clean, air-conditioned, and well stocked with toiletries, towels, etc. Great, filling breakfast options are included in the room rate with a supper menu offered as well (not included in the rate). I found the staff to be VERY friendly, helpful, and accommodated some small changes to one of our room reservations without hesitation. We had a light, casual conversation with the owner during which he touched on the hotel’s history. I really do wish I could have spent more time in S.D. and taken in more of this quaint little boutique gem of a hotel.
GGuest UserI get my reservation though the sales department. The person I deal with is very courteous, 1. I agree with couple of bad reviews here,,,,, Key issues, room outdated and moist smell on rooms and hallways, ( they are trying to fix the issues with dehumidifiers throughout the floor's hallway.... 2. front desk : they have inexperience front desk agents..... ( looks like no customer service skills training is happening at this location.... 3. to give the benefit of the doubt, this location has what is called club members that are not guest of the hotel, but they use the facility's gym, pool, sauna, and amenities from the hotel. so I think this ism the reason why the front desk and some of their staff lacks of just serv. skills. mix of people ...... and locals that visit or are member of the club are the med high class of the country and treat staff like if they are slaves..... so part of the problem lays in that, they try..... talking about the front desk staff....... 4. other staffs, they think they know everything..... one thing that bothers the most is when someone is trying to cover a fault with an excuse that doesn't even make sense.... please don't BS a Bs'r. 5. Rooms: other than having a moist smell, they lack of insulation ( sound proofing) you can hear everything that is going on on the other room, and when I say everything, is EVERYTHING..... my 11 years old asked me if they were killing someone on the other room..... 6. ammeneeties and restaurant staff, very courteous, and pleasant tried to accommodate me as much as they could possible can...... 7. Staff at 8th floor. they have a cigar lounge up there and more of a pleasant view away from most locals that visit the facility...... 8. if you want to have a nice sleep try executive rooms. everything is different.... by the way THIS IS A VERY CHEAP ($$$$$$ WISE) HOTEL.
Well, the hotel is not that bad that many reviews on ******* say. Of course, this is a cheap place, but everything is functional, the sheet are very white and so are the towels. You can find many hotels that are MUCH more expensive with grey and worn out bed sheets and towels. The towel I got even had Hotel Anabella logotype, which looked kind of fancy. A big drawback is the absence of windows. There are no rooms with windows in this hotel! It was a surprise for me. You can't tell time of the day when you are inside. It's hard to wake up in complete darkness. Another thing is complete absence of sound insulation. There was a door in my room to the next one and it had 2 cm opening, so I could literally hear my neighbour's breath at night. But it was no better for other sounds - I could clearly hear people talking in the lobby or watching something on their phones. People seldom use headphones in this country. But the place is really cheap. So, if you can stand out with the things above you can save some bucks.
The room was furnished with a hair-dryer and no night-time meal because it was not suitable. Yellow bed of lack of hygiene and the receptionist on Monday 19 August night a whole despot: still being customers, we had a countertime with the taxi and wanted to take advantage of our discomfort asking us a thousand pesos for the attempt There are many hotels in the surroundings with similar price and more human quality in their workers.
IIndo_backpackerzPro: -safe area even at night, because just beside the militery area of the presidential palace, even at 10pm there is still a grocery open.
- Breakfast is simple but good enough: toast with cheese and ham, coffee and a boiled egg.
-Spacious and clean room, friendly staff, can refill drinking water.
-500m walking to the gate of the colonial area.
- Taxi stand is at the same street
- Nice, spacious outdoor, sitting area
- A personal fridge in the room
Cons:
-A bit noisy from the road/a bar until around midnight.
- Shower is not really hot (only slightly warm).
