Tropicana Hotel is the one of the best valued hotels in Santo Domingo. For one night you can get a decent room for $30 USD. You can upgrade for $40 for the night to a room with a decent view of the courtyard and pool. The hotel is a bit outdated however, it does preserve its old school charm. The location is not great, you will have to walk at least five or six minutes to reach the *****, but oh what a *****! full of life and music by the ocean ***** (Especially Thurs, Fri, Sat). It is a good place if you are on a tight budget
