Upon arrival at the airport, things just went downhill. My wife had booked a ride from Ocean Inn from the airport to their hotel prior to our arrival. Our ride never showed up even after my wife confirmed with the hotel staff. Called them and not one response after several calls. Great way to confirm everything and then leave your customers high and dry. We ended getting our own ride. Ocean Inn hotel is situated in a what I would consider a more or less slum area. I saw multiple locals finish their drinks and then tossed their trash over into the sea when there’s garbage cans just a few feet from them. There’s a lot of garbage sunken and floating in the water everywhere. Countless rats scurrying on the ground and roofs in broad daylight. The area reeks of sewage. When we checked in, the gal in the front didn’t like her job. No greetings. No smiles. No friendly service. Not sure if it’s a cultural thing that I’m misunderstanding. I felt like she didn’t want to help us. Never did. The entrance of the front desk had an overwhelming smell of mothball. In our room, my wife found strands of hair between the sheets and blanket. The room smelled mildewy. The restroom smelled like a heavily used public restroom. The shower pressure trickled. I just don’t know how some of these reviewers gave this place a 3-5 stars. Absolutely baffled!!! Overall, there’s little nice things to say about Ocean Inn except that the AC works well. I’ll let you readers run wild with your own imagination that I’m painting. I would never come back here again. Thank goodness it was just for one night stay.

Difficult to say this was a 3-average, but the description of a 4 is ‘very good’ which is a stretch for my experience. Should be about 3.5 I’d say. Decent rooms, beds are comfy, generally clean and rooms are provided with AC, tv, towels, kettle, coffee, tea and basic toiletries. Half a toilet roll was a touch! Had to ask for more, though. Wifi was ok the first night, of two, but then dropped off to very slow speeds, barely capable of loading social media feeds, which was frustrating. Otherwise easy to access, to find and centrally located to the sea-side of Semporna.

It is far from the pier and you can hardly get a taxi, but the administrator will arrange a taxi. The hygiene is OK and I didn't see any ants. But the door is difficult to open, close and lock. You have to press the door very hard. The mushroom is a bit old. It would be better if you can explain and demonstrate the door opening and locking to future guests, or update the door lock to improve safety.

I really like this garden B&B. There are only 7 rooms in total. The boss and service staff are very enthusiastic. It feels like we are friends. The breakfast is different every day. It is cooked as you go. It is delicious. Dinner can also be booked in advance. We Stayed and ate for 3 nights. The boss's craftsmanship was excellent and the dining environment was very comfortable. But remember to bring mosquito repellent, there are many mosquitoes. There will be a car to pick up and drop off the town for free. In the last half day, the boss took us to a local supermarket for shopping and bought a lot of coffee to give to friends. Semporna Airport is very small and the queues are long. You can’t go wrong by arriving at the airport 2 hours in advance. Our plane took off 15 minutes early.

We do snorkelling and the water is quite clear and have different sea creatures.
Even there is no air conditioner i think the temperature inside the room is ok. Better open the window and doors and the wind can pass the room.
The food provided is okay and abundant enough for two people.
in conclusion, i think it’s better stay two nights. The accommodation here is much better than that near the pier.
Ps the price of island hoping is cheaper in the Accommodation compared to the shop near the pier.

GGuest UserA very wonderful water house experience. First of all, the boss answers questions very attentively and seriously. Every detail is considerate for tourists. Both pick-up and drop-off are well arranged. There are three meals a day. The breakfast, lunch and dinner taste good and the ingredients are fresh! There are also arrangements for afternoon tea! In the snorkeling area arranged by the boss, you can see a lot of corals and small fish, and you can have a panoramic view of the underwater world. The waters are more beautiful than the island hopping we arranged ourselves. There are two beds and a sofa bed in the room, which is more convenient for bringing children. You can see the sea view from every window, and it is also very pleasant to sit on the balcony!

GGuest UserThis hostel is located very strategic and all the restaurant, pharmacy, mini market,etc is within the walking distance. The room was clean. It has hot shower, A/C, amenities, coffee and tea as well. It comes with drinking water too. Room not too big but not too small as well. The hostel doesn't have a lift. It has a common area for people to hang out and have some coffee and tea. The staff was superb. Her name is Fadilah if I got her right. She returned back my wallet which I lost it and she found it at the front door of the hostel. She saved my day. I must give her a two thumbs up for this. The wallet was returned to be as it was before it was drop at the front door table. Thank you Fadilah. This will be my next hostel whenever I will come to Semporna. It has dorm as well with cheaper price.

Aahlam88We loved our stay here at Santiri Island Resort. We celebrated our 10th year wedding anniversary and it lived up to our expectation. The resort was beautiful, it was small and intimate and not many rooms, which we enjoy because it limits the crowd on the island. It really felt like we had the island to ourselves. The picture doesn't do its justice. You need to go there to see it for yourself. The resort is unique as it has a sandbank when it's low tide, good for pictures taking or taking a stroll. The food was delicious and you could also get them to cook your seafood that you buy from the sea gypsies. They will try their best to entertain your request. You can snorkel, kayak and paddleboard around the area. The corals are very nice here. The staff here was very helpful and friendly, I would like to thank Dato' (owner), Mandy and Sam and other staff for your hospitality. We Will definitely come back here!

AAnonymous UserI don’t recommend choosing this hotel, the location is too remote. It is about 800 meters away from the lively area of the town and far away from convenience stores, laundries and restaurants, which is very inconvenient. Most dive shops are at the pier, about 1.2km away. It's not very far to walk there, but there are no sidewalks on the road and there are a lot of cars, so you have to walk in the mud next to the road, which makes it very dirty. There are also a lot of mosquitoes on the road.
The store has a car delivered to the pier every day, but the time and location are fixed. The dive shop I chose is not at the pier, so I didn't use it. I have seen several other hotels with similar prices before, some of which are more conveniently located and have in-room toilets.
The bathroom and toilet are shared and it is not convenient to go to the toilet at night. The toilet is quite dirty. The dirt on the toilet seat is so serious that it cannot be wiped off with paper towels. At the same time, there are many mosquitoes when going to the toilet. The water pressure in the shower is also very low, and there is no cold water if there are other people taking a shower nearby.
There is only one bed in the room and no other facilities. The hygiene situation is okay and the bed is relatively clean. There is a small balcony, but the balcony door is broken and cannot be opened. The only thing worth mentioning is that the bed is very comfortable, it seems to be a latex mattress.
In addition, my room was close to the outside and the window faced the road. People passing by the bus can see directly inside, and the noise is very loud. Every night I wear noise-canceling headphones to fall asleep.

Jjohn12193 bedrooms are available, 4 double beds and 1 single bed; can accommodate 7 people, the air conditioner and water heater are normal, the front desk will give you the air conditioner when you check in (deposit 100), and it will be refunded when you check out. Downstairs is the restaurant, and there are resident singers at night (until around 11 p.m.), which is a bit noisy. The microwave, oven, and water dispenser in the room can be used; the Gree air conditioner is very powerful? Will not feel hot. Yantai is very big, you can directly see the scenery downstairs, don't smoke in the room, you can smoke in Yantai. Fat Ma's seafood is so-so. It takes a few minutes to walk to Nanhai Fishing Village, where the price is very high. There will be a queue at mealtime. Note: the door of the hotel apartment is on the right side of Zhan Quanji by the sea. There are a bunch of children at the door who will help you carry things and ask for tips. Unless you really can’t carry them, don’t give a penny, because there will be a bunch of people around. In addition, the possibility of late check-out is not high.

GGuest UserAlmost completed my 6N5D trip with my family of 4 with 2 teenagers. We had a great hospitality from the diving coaches but feel a great pity that the resort mgmt has wasted a great jewel and have not lived up to its luxurious potentials (maybe due to COVID and the resort had to furlough majority of the staff for over 5 months within the last 2 years and it has yet to recover). First, I was impressed with the photos seen on social media and decided to book this (supposed to be the BEST and most expensive resort near Sipadan) First, the jetty transfer in Semporna was smooth but there were plastic trash all over. If the company wants to portray a good image for international tourists, probably should first clean them up? Once arrived at Kapalai, the welcoming process was subpar. There was no receptionist welcoming us, and we were a bit lost. Since it is lunch time, we just straight dive into buffet lunch. Then, a staff clumsily come to offer a glass of diluted sugary orange juice and we were left there. After almost 1.5 hours, we were reached out by diving coaches about our program (the adults were taking advanced PADI open water, and the kids were taking junior PADI open water) Once we checked into the room, overall “hardware” appears nice, but after staying for 6 days some basic problems surface 1) No intercom/phone in the room - since we are at the far corner of the resort and it takes 10mins to walk to lobby, we sometimes need to call buggies. But we were only given a local phone number to call, and the mobile/cell reception is bad here 2) No proper shampoo and conditioner - for my ladies who have long hair, assuming this luxurious should have this basic provided but they don’t 3) Broken chair in the balcony and water dripping out from air condition unit In term of food at the restaurant, it was ok-ish but there are so many opportunities to let the tourists spent more. No wine, no ice cream and no a la cart ordering. The local store has limited daily necessities and it is essential to well prepared before coming. Lastly, for this type of resort, you will see the general manager walking around to ensure all are good in place. I have not seen it over 6 days and the receptionists all seems junior and lack of international experience/exposure to hosting well travel international guests. In term of diving experience, I can feel that the diving coaches and staff have done everything they can to put on a smiley face. My teenager girls have a GREAT experience on their junior open water (OW) experience (with Linda Ho, thank you!) but less so on the advanced open water. (AOW). I feel a bit rush on the AOW but don’t feel the knowledge has sunk in and that is a real pity. Something to be improved. Many of us really want to learn, rather than just get the AOW license in order to dive in Sipadan (need at least AOW to dive there). GGuest UserWe were shocked and surprised when we arrived Ellys Home on 9 April. There is a Malay staff waiting for us at the entrance and he informed us our stay is changed to Paly Hotel (just next to Ellys Home). The staff passed us a call from the owner of Ellys Home. She said it is Trip.com error that the website still allow and confirm the booking even the Ellys Home is already fully booked. Therefore, she arranged for us the replacement at Paly Hotel.
Generally, Paly Hotel is good. However, it is better to update the travelers in advance for any changes (instead of informing only on that day on the spot). We have no choice to accept the change and this caused inconvenience to update our travel agency in last minute.
For this reason, I will not recommend others to make bookings via Trip.com.

Service: The hotel's arrangements are in place and they can help you solve any problems you have. We booked a charter boat for snorkeling for two people. The instructor is also very professional and will dive to the bottom of the sea to help you catch the fish from the bottom of the sea.
Facilities: As soon as I entered the room, I couldn't wait to experience the slide. At first, I was worried that I would sink into the sea if I slid down. There are life jackets at the front desk, so there is no need to worry.
Free dinner: The dishes are very rich, the chicken is very tender, the crabs are also very fresh, there is crab roe in it, you can’t get enough of the shrimps

GGuest UserBooked this Inn2 because I couldn’t see any commitments on Sipadan Inn 3 or 1. It was okay for overnight. The first time I stayed there, it was a normal small room with window facing the street. However, when I checked in again a week later I got a room in the middle without window, even though I booked the same queen room. The location is not great, Inn 3 and 1 are at better spots in the small seafront town, easier to reach than Inn 2. Among the three, Inn 3 is the newest and, after a visit, I noticed it has better rooms with better facilities. Had WiFi in room at Inn 2, the bed was very basic and sheets not crispy clean, the shower was okay as well as the air conditioning. Semporna is a tiny town with most places within walking distance, though the narrow, car-lined streets are not that clean or tidy to walk through, especially if you carry luggage. From what I heard from other travelers, very basic facilities wherever you stay, so lower your expectations then probably all good.
