The stay was okay, however the door cannot be locked maybe because the key given wasn’t the actual key for that particular door (kundasang). The friendliness of the crews were outstanding and the overall experience was alright. Thank you for the service and hope to stay here again in the future with better experience.

The independent cabins are pretty good for the price, but there are basically no Chinese people there, and the food is average for Chinese people. The jungle resort a little ahead has Chinese food and more activities.

Good location in nature. In the pictures there was a picture of a larger rectangular pool that didn't exist. The restored one is overpriced with sub-par food. You can see monkeys and squirrels.

The hotel is excellent next to the nursery of orangutans, rainbow bears and rainforest, the territory of the hotel is very beautiful, the pool is small, lived in a house which on the one hand is very authentic and on the other hand modern. When leaving the hotel we could not call a grab taxi, had to use the services of the reception. I do not recommend taking a tour for 3 days 2 nights to Sukau, to see only proboscis monkeys and crocodiles and various birds, one night is the best. It is better to devote more days to Sepilok, there you can see all the birds and animals

Very beautiful and quiet resort. Original ecology. There were bats living under the eaves in front of the cabin where we lived. Staff are friendly and helpful. Not far from the Ape Sanctuary, Sun Bears and RDC. The restaurant is good. If it rains, you will pass through waterlogged paths when walking to the main road.

We stayed for 3 nights and loved this place. The lodges are rustic but very comfortable with air conditioning, the staff are friendly, the food is tasty, and the location is perfect for visiting the Orangutan & Sunbear sanctuarys, and the Rain Forest Discovery Centre. We went on day trip to the Kinabatangan river (organised by the lodge) and saw orangutans, monkeys and elephants. The absolute highlight though was seeing a huge male orangutan enjoying the fruits on the trees above the lodges and then swinging down across the lodge roof back into the forest. An amazing experience we wouldn’t have had if we hadn’t stayed here!

We had a lovely stay at SFER, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The onsite restaurant has an extensive menu and the food was delicious for a reasonable price. Breakfast was also delicious and included a hot and cold buffet. 10-20 min walk to RDC (recommend the night walk), Orangutans and Sun Bears. Rooms are basic (but you're in the rainforest!) and provide everything you need, including a kettle and minifridge! Comfortable beds and lovely view from balcony. Would recommend this place and hoping to come back in the future!

Absolutely loved this place, so close to the jungle but also far enough away to avoid too much jungle noise. The accommodation is clean and well maintained jungle styled villas. The breakfast was more than ample and the staff were amazing, so helpful. Great location, a short 5 min walk to the orangutan and sun bear sanctuary’s. Can’t think of any negatives, the only caution is beware of the leeches when you do the forrest walk at the rear of the property, but that is normal. Highly recommended.

It is comfortable and you hear the sounds of the forest and have a green outlook from your chalet. I liked the quirky outdoor shower area but be aware that it is a bit of a walk on uneven paths from some of the chalets to the restaurant. Food is tasty & ok value at the restaurant but alcohol seemed expensive. I always found the staff friendly and they were happy to transfer our bags to our chalets. Wifi only worked at the restaurant area.

This is a lovely resort in beautiful surroundings. We had the glamping villa which was amazing and the private pool was a nice touch. The staff are fantastic and the food is amazing. You get to see a lot of monkeys up close. We say lots of macaque and a red leaf monkey. The large male macaque can be aggressive so keep your distance.

We were fairly exhausted by the time we arrived at this very special place, but our tired feet and overheated heads were immediately forgotten. Staying in a spacious stand alone bungalow we were treated like kings from the moment we arrived. This unique resort is small, secluded and intimately designed to be away from the rushing crowds. This is not like a chain resort, so if you want multiple dining options, a shop and a hydro slide you won't find it here. This is not a Hilton, so expect rustic and hand crafted as opposed to marble and plush carpet. People were doing yoga in the garden, meditating on the decks, and generally chilling in comfy chairs. It seemed a very respectful place, so welcoming and one of a kind. Leave your shoes by the steps to the dining area to truly set yourself up for the experience, on a raised, sprawling deck with fabulous forest views - you might even get a peek at some of the wildlife... The breakfast was unfortunately nothing to write home about and poorly serviced, which was kind of disappointing after our delicious dinner the night before, but realistically that wasn't why we were there. We also were required to pay separately for our dinner and drinks but I did wonder if this was operated separately from the accommodation. Our reason for visiting was wildlife and proximity to the sun bears and orangutan reserves. We also visited proboscis monkeys and crocodiles while here. Websites quote that resort is 10 minutes walk to the Orangutan Reserve - my recommendation would be set out expecting 20 minutes unless you walk fast or arrange transport if the heat gets to you. Daughter proclaimed this the most perfect place she has ever been. Hard to argue. We hope to return as it felt dreamlike.

Each little hut / house is lined along a pathway that circles around the resort area, concluding at the main reception / restaurant area. This communal area is the only place for wifi and there are board / card games setup and is where you go to eat from the resort's restaurant. The food is pretty average, and service is a bit slow, but you can over look that. There aren't many places as nice as this - and as close to the Orangutan and Sun bear conservation centres. Good location, and I'd rather much stay here than in Sandakan city.

A really nice resort close to Sandakan but out out in the forest. The pool is small but will do the trick if you want to cool down. If you are lucky you might see wildlife. We stayed in a room on a small cliff overlooking the resort. Birdlife is really nice and the rehabilitation centre is quite close. Personnel is nice and accommodating.

We have just returned from a family holiday in Malaysia. We are 3 adult couples and were celebrating my hubby’s 60th. He had to stay on for a few more days and when we picked him up he was like part of the furniture. Thanks for looking after him - a special shout out to Martha and Almie. The hotel is lovely - as others have said it’s not a huge menu but we really enjoyed the food and would sit playing games with a beer in the evening. The pool is small but refreshing because it’s so hot and humid. It’s walking distance to the sun bears and orangutang sanctuary which was great. I’d use GRAB - a lot cheaper than other taxis.
